But then Lei Tingjun suddenly pushed back, preventing Ji Wanmei from coming over to hug him. The movement was so large that Ji Wanmei seemed to hear him let out a restrained groan.
"What's wrong with you?" Ji Wanmei asked in surprise.
Lei Tingjun sat up abruptly, his back to her looking disheveled, and said in a hoarse voice, "It's nothing, I'm just going out for a bit."
"Sweetie, you should go to sleep first."
After saying that, he suddenly got out of bed and quickly walked out.

He picked up the wooden bucket with one hand, walked outside into the yard, and then poured it over his head.

Ji Wanmei, with her long hair draped over her shoulders, leaned against the headboard, pulling the blanket up, and blankly turned her head to listen to the sounds downstairs.
It wasn't until she vaguely heard the sound of a bucket of water being poured down in the courtyard downstairs that Ji Wanmei belatedly blinked.
For some unknown reason, she bit her lip, lowered her eyes in the dim candlelight, and her cheeks suddenly flushed red.
Under the lamplight, a beautiful glow spread out.
