Chapter 101 Escape

Seeing a glimmer of hope for survival, Chen Dazhuang and his two companions unleashed all their potential. Their bodies, which had previously been completely weak, now felt full of energy. They roared and shouted outside, hoping that the rescuers outside could hear them and confirm their location.

The shelter door had been blocked to prevent water from getting in. Chen Dazhuang and his two companions shouted as they tried to move the sandbags blocking the door, hoping to escape as soon as possible. However, they soon realized that it was all in vain. The sandbags, which they had easily lifted before, were now incredibly heavy. This was because the sandbags were filled with water, increasing their weight, and also because they were extremely exhausted. They hadn't eaten for the past two or three days, so they had no extra strength left.

After failing, Chen Dazhuang decisively gave up and instead focused on making noise to attract people outside. Hou Xiaojun even took a hammer and kept banging on the iron gate, and the clanging sound gradually reached the ears of Wang Qiang and the others.

Listen! Can you hear a sound?

"It really seems to be true! Let's go check it out!"

Everyone was overjoyed and ran towards the direction from which the sound came. They were extremely excited, as if they had grasped a lifeline.

At this point, Wang Qiang had no time to clear the mud and obstacles from his feet. After identifying the direction of the sound, he was certain that it was coming from the location of the shelter ahead. It must have been Chen Dazhuang and the others responding to his shouts to tell him their location and that they were still alive!

"Never mind anything else, let's get ahead. It's only a few dozen meters away, everyone hang in there!"

As Wang Qiang spoke, he took the lead and waded forward with difficulty through the water. He would occasionally call out a few words to respond to Chen Dazhuang and the others, letting them know that he had heard him.

After some effort, Wang Qiang and his men finally arrived at the door of Chen Dazhuang's hiding place. With a nervous heart, Wang Qiang eagerly asked, "Chen Dazhuang, it's me, Wang Qiang! Are you inside? I've brought men to rescue you!"

Hearing the voice, Chen Dazhuang and the others inside the door were moved to tears. Chen Dazhuang choked back sobs as he replied, "Captain Wang, it's me, Chen Dazhuang. All three of us are here!"

After Wang Qiang inquired about the situation in more detail and confirmed that the three people were not in any immediate danger but were somewhat weak, a huge weight was lifted from his heart.

He quickly instructed, "The three of you rest here and conserve your energy. We'll find a way to rescue you right away!" After saying that, he led the others to quickly get to work and clear the mountain of debris piled up at the entrance.

After a long cleaning process, the clutter blocking the doorway was finally removed.

However, when Wang Qiang stepped back and tried to push the door open, it remained firmly shut.

Upon inquiry, it was learned that Chen Dazhuang had piled up several sandbags inside to prevent water seepage. These sandbags were now obstructing access to the room.

Chen Dazhuang initially tried to struggle to his feet to help remove them, but Wang Qiang, worried that this would put him out of danger, stopped him. After confirming that there were only a few sandbags on the ground, Wang Qiang led the men outside and, using brute force, forced the door open.

The moment they entered, they finally saw the three exhausted people inside. Despite their weariness, their eyes were filled with excitement.

The rescuers behind Wang Qiang couldn't help but cheer, because they had finally successfully rescued the three people.

With time of the essence, Wang Qiang immediately organized a team to place the three people on stretchers and quickly transport them to the surface. They carefully carried the stretchers, taking one step at a time, towards the wellhead.

Despite the rugged and uneven road, they pressed on resolutely. Finally, they safely reached the bottom of the mine shaft, nearing the completion of their arduous rescue mission.

"Let me go up and report the situation first!" Wang Qiang volunteered. He decided to personally climb up the well to report to the anxiously waiting leaders, including Bao Ruijin and Fan Dacheng, that the rescued personnel had been successfully rescued, and to notify the rescue medical team already prepared outside to get ready for their arrival. At the same time, he also reminded all departments to make preparations in advance to ensure everything went smoothly.

Wang Qiang carefully climbed up to the wellhead and, once on the surface, quickly reported to Bao Ruijin and Fan Dacheng: "The trapped personnel have been successfully rescued and are out of danger. Please give instructions for the next steps."

Upon hearing this good news, Bao Ruijin and Fan Dacheng were overjoyed. They shook Wang Qiang's hand tightly to express their gratitude.

Mo Yuan then reminded everyone of a crucial detail: because the three trapped individuals had been in darkness for an extended period, their eyes were extremely sensitive to light, and direct exposure to sunlight could cause permanent damage. Therefore, when they emerged from the well, their eyes had to be covered to protect their vision.

Upon hearing this, Fan Dacheng immediately gave a thumbs-up and praised, "You've thought this through very well!" Mo Yuan smiled and nodded after receiving the praise, then ordered Wang Qiang to return to the bottom of the well to continue directing the rescue work.

Soon, a voice came from above the well, indicating that everything was ready and the trapped personnel could be brought back to the surface. Wang Qiang and the others carefully lowered the first trapped person to the wellhead, then blindfolded him with a towel to protect him from the bright light. Next, the second trapped person was also safely brought to the surface.

There was a little incident during the process. Because of the cramped space, they could only go out one by one. Chen Dazhuang, Hou Xiaojun and the other three were polite to each other and wanted the other to go out first!

In the end, Chen Dazhuang, as the eldest brother, demonstrated his noble character by insisting that his two younger companions go first, while he stayed behind. He said, "You go up first, I'll be fine." This selfless spirit was truly moving. Ultimately, Chen Dazhuang was also successfully brought to the ground, and like Chen Dazhuang, he was blindfolded.
