They were woken up early in the morning by a series of phone calls.
Jiang Xiaoli reached out but couldn't reach anything. Zong Jiayu looked at her and smiled, "The phone is in the living room."
He got up, went to the living room, grabbed his phone, and called out, "Mom."
He walked to the bedside and turned on the speakerphone. Li Guizhi's voice came through, "Did I call too early? Are you two still asleep?"
Jiang Xiaoli lay on the bed, resting her chin on the back of her hand. "It's nothing. Have you eaten?"
Li Guizhi smiled and said, "I've eaten, I've eaten. I called to talk about something else!"
She asked casually, "What's up?"
"Your Aunt Xu is pregnant!"
"What?" They both looked shocked at the same time!
Jiang Xiaoli instantly perked up and sat up. "Aunt Xu is pregnant?"
Li Guizhi said, "Yes, she just returned to Kyoto from Xijing yesterday and we had dinner together. Xiaotian steamed a fish, and she vomited as soon as it was served. Today I accompanied her to the hospital for a check-up, and it was confirmed that she is one month pregnant."
She was a little unsure. "Mom, what you're telling us means..."
Xu Feng's voice came from the other end, "Xiao Li, it's me."
"This is all so sudden. Your Uncle Xiao, Xiaoyu, and I weren't prepared at all. I'd like you to subtly inquire about it for me. If everyone can't accept it..."
Jiang Xiaoli quickly advised, "Auntie, please don't act impulsively!"
She assured him, "Uncle Xiao and I won't be back in China for about a week. I'll definitely find out for you then, is that alright?"
Xu Feng agreed, "Thank you, Xiao Li."
