The first house Su Nian went to was her neighbor Daya's. When Daya's parents saw Su Nian coming with her little boyfriend, they hurriedly asked them to come in and sit down. They also started making tea and brought out fried pumpkin seeds for her to eat.
"Daya left after the Chinese New Year and went to Guangzhou with her aunt," Daya's grandmother looked at Su Nian with satisfaction, "Now you have finally flown out of this little mountain nest!"
Su Nian recalled that in her previous life, she had gone to the provincial capital and had lost contact with her childhood playmates. She felt a little sad, "Did Daya write home?"
"Here it comes," Grandma Daya instructed her grandson to work, "Xiaodouzi, bring over the letter from your sister!"
The people in Laowan Township are simple and honest, and they don't think about keeping their personal privacy from others. Su Nian looked at the address on the envelope, took out a small notebook and wrote it down, planning to contact Daya by letter after returning to Quzhou.
Daya's father said a few words and left. The men of Laowan Township would gather in the evening to play cards and brag. This was entertainment after a day of hard work, extremely sacred and not to be delayed. Daya's mother went to do housework.
Only Su Nian and Grandma Daya were left talking. After exchanging a few words about family matters, Su Nian put down a few boxes of local specialties and prepared to say goodbye to Grandma Daya.
Grandma Daya suddenly slapped her head and said, "Look at my memory. When I saw you this afternoon, I wanted to tell you that someone came to see you when you were little!"
Su Nian shuddered and looked up at Grandma Daya. "Is there such a thing? What kind of person comes to see me?"
"It was a woman, very young, very beautiful, and very fashionable. She came in a car," Grandma Daya recalled carefully. "As soon as she arrived, she asked about Su Huaiyuan's home. It was only after she came to me that I told her!"
"How do you know that woman was looking for me?" Su Nian looked at Grandma Daya eagerly, with a strange feeling in his heart. If someone had come to look for her, it meant that she might not have been stolen or picked up by the Su family, but was given to the Su family by someone!
Grandma Daya opened a box, took out some cakes and handed them to Xiaodouzi. "Go, sit by the door and eat. Let me know if anyone comes!"
Xiaodouzi grabbed the cake and sat down at the door obediently.
Grandma Daya then said, "That woman asked me how to get to the Su family. After I told her, she asked me if the little girl in her family was okay. I didn't react at the time. She even compared your height, weight, and body shape. I answered casually, but the more I thought about it, the more strange it seemed!"
"This woman came to Laowan Township for the first time. It's not surprising that she went to the Su family. Who doesn't have a few relatives? But you had just shown up at that time. How did this woman know what you looked like? Unless, you had been in her house before!" Grandma Daya said with certainty.
Su Nian just felt like there was thunder in his head, rumbling non-stop!
It was only when Chu Beichen saw that she looked unhappy that he gently pushed Su Nian from the side that she came back to her senses!
"Grandma, when you saw that woman that year, did you hear her last name?" Su Nian asked anxiously.
"I know," Grandma Daya said shockingly again, "We live next door to the Su family. The Su family was talking to that woman in the yard, and I heard her calling her Miss Han!"
Miss Han? Su Nian blinked, nervously thinking about the people around her with the surname Han. She was surprised to find that she had never dealt with anyone with the surname Han since she was a child!
Su Nian didn't give up and asked one last time, "Grandma, do you think that Miss Han looks like anyone?"
