Chapter 48 Underground Crisis

Su Yao cautiously made her way towards the source of the strange sound deep within the warehouse, each step taken with utmost care. Her supernatural abilities were secretly circulating within her, ready to respond to any unexpected situation. The light from the lighting equipment was dim in the darkness, and the surrounding shadows seemed to constantly twist and shift, adding to the eerie atmosphere of the silent underground warehouse.

As she drew closer, the sound grew clearer, like the panting of some enormous creature, mixed with a deep roar. Suddenly, a gigantic claw emerged from the darkness, lashing out at Su Yao. Su Yao reacted swiftly, leaping backward to narrowly avoid the fierce attack. She then saw clearly that before her was a massive mutated bear, its body covered in a thick layer of ice crystal armor, its eyes gleaming with a cold blue light, and each breath creating white mist in the air.

The mutated bear clearly mistook Su Yao for an intruder, and attacked again, its massive paws whistling as they slammed towards her. Su Yao dodged, using the surrounding shelves as cover, constantly avoiding the mutated bear's attacks. She knew that a direct confrontation was not an option; she had to find the mutated bear's weakness.

While dodging, Su Yao noticed that although the mutated bear was ferocious, its enormous size made it somewhat slow to turn around in confined spaces. Furthermore, its ice crystal armor had small gaps at the joints. Su Yao devised a plan. She deliberately lured the mutated bear through the warehouse shelves, causing it to repeatedly crash into them, further restricting its movement.

As the mutated bear missed its target again, its body slamming into a shelf due to inertia, Su Yao seized the opportunity, wielding a short knife and rushing towards the gap in the bear's hind leg joint. She concentrated her supernatural power into the knife, which instantly ignited with a ghostly blue flame, stabbing fiercely at the mutated bear. The flame and the blade sliced into the gap together, causing the mutated bear to roar in pain, its hind legs buckling and nearly collapsing.

This only enraged it. It swung its paws wildly, smashing the surrounding shelves to pieces and scattering supplies everywhere. Su Yao nimbly dodged through the flying debris, searching for her next opportunity to attack. She noticed that the mutated bear's head was briefly exposed during its attacks, and its eyes seemed to be relatively weak points in its ice crystal armor.

Su Yao took out some ropes she had collected earlier from her spatial storage. These ropes had been specially treated and were extremely strong. She tied one end of the rope to a fixed object and made a slipknot at the other end. Then, she teased the mutated bear again. When the mutated bear pounced on her, she dodged to the side and threw the slipknot of the rope at the mutated bear's head.

The rope was precisely looped around the mutated bear's head, and Su Yao pulled hard, trying to restrict its movement. The mutated bear struggled, trying to break free of the rope. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Su Yao rushed towards the mutated bear's eyes, the short knife in her hand flaming again. She leaped high into the air and stabbed at the mutated bear's eyes.

The mutated bear sensed Su Yao's intention and frantically shook its head, trying to avoid the attack. Su Yao adjusted her posture in mid-air, and ultimately, the dagger still pierced the mutated bear's eye. The mutated bear let out a deafening scream, its strength becoming even more ferocious. With a powerful shake of its head, it flung Su Yao away.

Su Yao slammed heavily against the wall, feeling her blood surging within her. But she knew she couldn't let her guard down now; she had to seize this opportunity to completely eliminate the mutated bear. Enduring the pain, she charged at the bear again. This time, the mutated bear's movements were somewhat chaotic due to its injured eye. Su Yao circled behind it and used her short knife to repeatedly attack the other side of its hind leg joint, causing it to completely lose its balance and collapse to the ground with a thud.

Su Yao gave the mutated bear no chance to catch its breath. She gathered all her supernatural powers in her hands and unleashed a powerful fireball at the bear's head. The flames exploded on the bear's head, severely burning it. After struggling for a while, the mutated bear finally stopped moving and died completely.

Su Yao breathed a sigh of relief, a wave of exhaustion washing over her. But looking at the supplies scattered around her, her heart was filled with hope again. She continued collecting supplies, storing food, warm clothing, and medical supplies into her spatial storage. During the collection process, she also discovered some special tools that could greatly help improve the defenses and living facilities of the safe house.

As Su Yao finished collecting supplies and prepared to leave the underground warehouse, the system suddenly notified her: "A mysterious energy fluctuation has been detected near the warehouse, possibly related to the source of the extreme cold. Should you proceed to investigate?" Su Yao hesitated. She knew this could be very dangerous, but finding the source of the extreme cold might change the current state of this apocalyptic world. Ultimately, she decided to head towards the energy fluctuation, embracing new and unknown challenges, and searching for more hope for survival in this frigid post-apocalyptic world.
