Chapter 493: Zombie War

He wasn't a zombie to be feared, but the real threat was the branch behind them, covered in black flesh. The brown vines, carrying leaves, rustled across the ground, making a sound like countless snakes crawling across the ground. The rustling sound of snake scales scraping against the ground was also a terrifying one, and cold sweat ran down their backs. Even if one ran as fast as possible, they couldn't outrun the vines. Just when the vines were about to stretch into a straight line, a new one sprouted from the branch. It was like a bottomless pit, with no idea how far the vines could extend once they fell to the ground.

"Let's split up and run," the person in front breathlessly said to the people next to him. There was only a vine following them, so if they ran separately, there would always be two people who were safe. In fact, they were not doing it out of kindness, but because they hoped that they would be the lucky ones. As for who was unlucky, it was none of their business. As long as they could protect their own lives, it would be fine. In fact, it all came down to the selfishness of human nature. Who doesn't want to live? Everyone wanted the other person to attract the attack of the vine, so that they would be the one who survived.

The person who was speaking saw the direction of the mountain while his eyes moved, and quickly changed direction and ran towards the mountain. The people who were a beat slower reacted and ran in the opposite direction, but there was always one person who reacted the slowest and was destined to not escape the entanglement of the vines.

"Ah~, help!" The man staggered while running, and stopped after a tremor. He slowly lowered his head to look at the vines wrapped around his feet. Seeing the vines, which were more sensitive than snakes, branching out into infinite branches and tightening around his legs, he could feel the muscles on his legs being tightened and contracted. Then his legs felt a burst of pain, which became more and more unbearable. He struggled twice, but not only did he not break free, but he felt his abdomen pierced by a sharp weapon. He lowered his head to look at the vines that passed through his abdomen, smiled bitterly, and looked up at the circle protected by a piece of green. There was pain in his eyes. He was filled with envy. If he hadn't escaped with them, he would be safe now. He glanced at the figure still struggling to run up the mountain, and the resentment in his eyes couldn't be suppressed. If he hadn't encouraged him to escape, he wouldn't have died so miserably. Then the scene in front of him became increasingly blurry, but in that blurry moment, all that remained in his mind was resentment, resentment towards the person who had escaped. No one knew that his eyes, which should have turned white, were filled with blood. Blood mixed with tears flowed down his pale face, leaving two bright red tears. His body didn't fall to the ground, but slowly stiffened. The vines that had absorbed the blood turned even greener, and the leaves on the vines were almost lush. The vines pulled away from his body, suddenly piercing the ground, and the other end of the vine disappeared.

This mutated zombie walked slowly towards the mountain, with red tears of blood still frozen on its face. It was obvious at a glance that this was a kind of resentment that would last until death.

The vines disappeared from the ground and turned into several branches in the soil, like a big tree growing here. The roots spread infinitely into the soil, but the branches went to where the two people were running. There was also a well-hidden root that went from the ground towards Shangguan Wan and the others.

Shangguan Wan and the others were completely unaware of this sudden change. They were still fighting the zombies above using their superpowers.

Shangguan Wan is now somewhat unable to extricate herself. She holds up a huge net with her hands and is still using her wood-type ability to repair the place burned by the cup zombies. Once the net is removed, the people below them will be injured if not killed, and the possibility of being burned to death is higher. The place where they are standing now is not favorable for them. They are standing at the bottom of the mountain, while the zombies are standing on the peak closest to them. The zombies are in a high position, and even if they want to counterattack, they may be injured by their own abilities. This is why Shangguan Wan has been in a passive state.
