New Year’s Eve is the busiest day. People put up couplets, prepare New Year’s Eve dinner, and pay respects to their ancestors and gods.
Lu Wanwan thought that this might be the last year they would spend here, and they would probably celebrate the New Year in Beijing in the future. Our Ningning had never seen the New Year before, and she was extremely excited watching the busy people, her eyes flickering from one thing to another.
Gu Lei and Jingrui played with Ningning, while Lu Wanwan and the others prepared the New Year's Eve dinner. They prepared a table full of dishes last night and started making dumplings in the afternoon. Every household was making dumplings.
After dinner, the family watches the Spring Festival Gala and stays up all night. At twelve o'clock, they set off firecrackers and prepare to go to bed. Some people will stay up until dawn.
The next day, two bonfires were lit before dawn, symbolizing a prosperous year ahead. Firecrackers were also set off, some early, some late, and the sound of crackling firecrackers continued throughout the morning.
Ningning woke up early, probably to join in the fun. "Gu Feng, take Ningning out to pay New Year's greetings later. Mom and I will be at home preparing to give out New Year's money."
"Okay, Gu Lei Jingrui, come with me."
After saying that, Gu Feng took Gu Lei and Jing Rui out. Lu Wanwan was waiting for the children to come and pay New Year's greetings at home. This year, their parents will celebrate the New Year with their brother. I wonder if it will be lively over there.
The New Year in the army was also quite lively. The art troupe would perform and the canteen would make dumplings. The entire army celebrated together. Lu "" Guo and others were also invited to watch the art troupe's performance. Xia Wen was about to give birth so she didn't go on stage.
They ate dumplings together in the army canteen in the evening. Without much entertainment, they went home early.
There was no need to pay New Year's greetings the next day, and there was nothing else to do.
"Mom and Dad? How long can you take me here?"
"If Wenwen needs care, I can stay for a while longer. Your father has to go back on the sixth day of the New Year, and he can't do without someone there."
"Wenwen doesn't really need anyone. I'm usually at home. When I'm not around, Wenwen goes back to her parents-in-law's house."
"There's no need for us to go back on the sixth day. I'll come back when the baby is born."
"Mom? Can you please leave? Isn't the hospital busy?"
"No matter how busy I am, it's not as important as Wenwen's confinement."
"If you are busy, you don't have to come to take care of the confinement period. You can come to see the baby and then go back. My mother-in-law and I can do that too."
"Yeah, Mom? Our aunt can come over too. It's okay for my mom and Mu Fan to lend a hand. They don't have to come over."
"What mother-in-law doesn't take care of you during confinement? When the time comes, if you need anything, just let Mu Fan know. Mom will be there whenever you call."
"Whose family doesn't take care of their daughter-in-law? Look at how we have done that. There is no rule that the mother-in-law must take care of the confinement period. Let's just discuss the best way. Besides, what will my dad do if you come here alone?"
"With Auntie at home, your father won't go hungry."
"My mom is taking care of me by the way. We are worried about you coming over and leaving Dad alone at home. It would be best if you could all come."
Lu Mufan thought about it and agreed. It would not be good to leave his father and the nanny together for a long time. Although he also trusted his father, if something happened it would be the end of him. He couldn't lose the big picture for the sake of small gains.
Lu Jianguo was furious when he saw Lu Mufan's look. How could Lu Jianguo not know what he was thinking? "What are you looking at me with? Am I that kind of person?"
"Dad, I absolutely believe in you, but I'm not sure about others."
Lu Jianguo didn't say anything else because he couldn't guarantee that others didn't mean that.
"Let's talk about it later. I can live with Wanwan for a while."
"Yes, Wanwan and the others are coming to Beijing City to study, so they should bring their families with them."
The conversation here was lively, and the other side was not idle either.
Lu Wanwan would give a red envelope to every child who came to visit her. The children would say thank you and run away. Children look forward to this day all year round. Although the New Year's money would be confiscated before they even warmed up, they would be happy when they received it.
After a while, Gu Feng came back with the child in his arms. Seeing the little guy looking drowsy, Lu Wanwan wanted to laugh. It seemed that he had woken up too early and was sleepy.
"Gu Lang, are you done with your worship?"
"It's over. I saw Ningning was taking a nap, so I hurried back."
"Then you put her to sleep?"
"Alright."
Gu Feng coaxed the child to sleep, and Lu Wanwan went out to prepare lunch with the family.
Lu Wanwan had just gone out when Gu Feng came out. "Wanwan, I'm going to go see a friend. Listen to the baby crying and don't let him wake up and fall to the ground."
"Brother, go ahead. I'll help you look after the kids. I can't help with cooking."
"Okay, Gu Lei, thank you for your help."
Hearing Gu Feng say this, Gu Lei thought his second brother had been possessed by another body. "Second brother, can you speak normally?"
"Do you deserve a beating again?"
Gu Lei thought, you see, the second brother is still the same second brother. Gentleness didn’t suit him, but now it’s normal.
Gu Feng didn't come back for lunch and only came back when he was almost going to bed at night.
On the third day of the junior high school, Gu Lei welcomed his only friend Xue Kai. As soon as Xue Kai entered the house, he found that Gu Lei's parents, second brother and second sister-in-law were all there. "Happy New Year, uncle and aunt, happy New Year, second brother and second sister-in-law."
She greeted him as soon as she entered the house, and there must be nothing wrong. Then she was about to go into the house to chat with Gu Lei, but unexpectedly, Lu Wanwan gave her a red envelope. "Second sister-in-law, this..."
"What is this? Don't people always give red envelopes when celebrating the New Year?"
"I'm grown up, and I haven't received a red envelope in years."
Ever since he started skipping classes and fighting, his family no longer cared about him. They even saved the New Year's red envelopes and only gave him some pocket money every month. Lu Wanwan made him feel like he was still a child.
"Okay, don't be touched. Don't you want to see the academic master? Wait a minute. Gu Lei, go see if your cousin and his wife are here. Ask them to come over. Just say I'm looking for them."
