"Okay! It's a deal!"
"It's a deal!"
After the chat ended that evening, time seemed to be fast-forwarded.
Shen Qingqing and Wu Fangyi followed the experienced senior high school teachers and kept testing all the knowledge they had learned in the past two years with test papers. The answering techniques and problem-solving methods for each question became more and more perfect through thousands of practice sessions.
In the weekly and monthly tests of the senior year, Shen Qingqing and Wu Fangyi were able to break into the top three of the senior year rankings from the very beginning, but it was not stable. Sometimes Shen Qingqing was in third place, and sometimes Wu Fangyi was in third place.
By the time of the first mock exam, Shen Qingqing and Wu Fangyi had already secured first and second place respectively.
From this point on, Shen Qingqing will no longer be able to hold the number one position for a long time, and she and Wu Fangyi will sometimes be in first place and sometimes in first place.
However, the score difference is never significant.
There were three rounds of mock exams throughout the senior year of high school.
Two weeks after the third mock exam, it was June 5th.
After reviewing the practice test papers in the last class, the subject teacher left the classroom, and the homeroom teacher walked in, her previously serious and tense expression replaced by a smile.
"Students, your hard work over the past three years is about to pay off. Every test paper you've completed, every pen refill you've used, and every wrong question you've corrected will not have been in vain."
"I've said these words countless times over the past three years, so now I'll just give you one sentence: I wish all the graduating students of Jinxiu High School a triumphant return in the college entrance examination!"
"Thank you, teacher!"
The whole class stood up, some of the more emotional ones already had tears in their eyes, and they shouted along.
The homeroom teacher smiled with satisfaction: "Alright, pack your things and go home. Have a good rest at home tomorrow. You'll be back at school for exams on the 7th and 8th!"
Jinzhong is one of the test centers. From the 6th to the 9th, the first-year high school students will have a holiday. The 9th is the academic level test for the second-year high school students.
In other words, while regular senior high school students only need to take the exam on the 7th and 8th, Shen Qingqing and Wu Fangyi will have to take the exam again on the 9th.
Every year, the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao) is not far from the Dragon Boat Festival, and the Dragon Boat Festival rains always seem to pour down during those two days.
But this year we were lucky; it rained while the students were already in the classroom taking the exam, and the rain stopped after the exam was over.
This is the first child of the Shen and Li families to take the college entrance examination. Apart from Li Shuyun, who is still working as a junior high school teacher, Shen Rongzhou, Li Xunli, Li Xunjin, Li Yuxing and Zhang Mingfang are all waiting outside the examination center.
For three consecutive days, every time Shen Qingqing came out of school after each exam, she could see her family waiting for her outside the school gate.
During these three days, Wu Fangyi was also forcibly brought along by Shen Qingqing to take the exam together, and they would go back together after the exam.
Wu Fangyi wants to apply to Q University, so Shen Qingqing will absolutely not let her go back to that kind of family environment where she is ignored and subjected to emotional abuse. Even though Wu Fangyi herself has said that it doesn't matter, with the big exam approaching, the slightest emotional upset could lead to poor performance.
Because of Wu Fangyi's affection for her over the past five years—being her classmate and roommate and treating her like a cub—Shen Qingqing could not allow such an accident to happen.
At 5:40 PM on June 8th, the annual two-day large-scale selection competition came to an end.
Many of those who left Jinzhong that afternoon burst into tears right at the school gate.
Even in a school like Jinzhong with a good learning atmosphere, the pressure is not small.
Because everyone around is working hard, the tension is spreading from one person to another.
Shen Qingqing stood there for a few seconds, watching her classmates cry, then turned around and pulled Wu Fangyi into the car.
The battle for the senior high school students is over, but theirs isn't.
The two of them are missing one final period to complete this exam.
On June 9, 2015, at 4:30 PM, the high school academic proficiency test ended.
Shen Qingqing capped her pen and watched as the proctor approached her step by step, collected her exam paper and answer sheet, walked back to the podium, arranged them one by one, and announced that they should leave the examination room in an orderly manner.
It was as if even the heavens were celebrating for Shen Qingqing that day, as it was sunny all day long.
Wu Fangyi declined Shen Qingqing's invitation and went home on her own.
Even after Shen Qingqing returned home and sat down to drink mung bean soup, her mind remained blank.
It seems that all the memories and thoughts were taken away along with the exam paper that was taken away.
After finishing the sugar water, Shen Qingqing unconsciously went to find clothes to take a shower. After showering, she returned to her room, closed the door, turned on the air conditioner, lay down on the bed, and fell into a deep sleep in less than five minutes.
I slept straight through to 5 a.m. the next morning.
The curtains were drawn tightly shut, but a faint ray of light still managed to sneak in through the gaps.
Shen Qingqing lay flat on the bed, stared at the tiny ray of light for a while, and then got up from the bed.
Instead of going to the bathroom in the master bedroom, I washed up in the bathroom outside, then made myself a bowl of egg and ham noodles, slurped it down, and went back to my room to play games on my computer.
Come to think of it, it's been almost two years since she last touched a game, and she doesn't even know how it's been updated.
Four hours later, Shen Qingqing closed the game. She was a little tired, especially since there were quite a few changes. She checked the announcements on the official website and also browsed the information on the forum to find out how many things had been changed in the past two years.
