Chapter 172 Scolding Xia Niu

"Lili, you're back? Hurry up and put your things down and come eat. Are you hungry? Everyone's waiting for you." Song Yongren greeted Song Lili as soon as he saw her.

As Song Lili took the basket off her back, she replied to Song Yongren, "It's alright, I'm not very hungry. You can eat first once you've finished cooking, no need to wait for me."

"Or you can leave it for me, you don't have to wait until now, you can eat it when you're hungry."

"It's alright, it's alright. We just finished cooking. Come and sit down, Fangfang is going to get you some rice." Song Jianshe waved to Song Lili.

Song Lili sat down next to Song Yongren and said, "You guys eat, mine will be here soon."

"Lili, wait a moment, I'll go check if Fangfang is alright." Xia Niu said, standing up, looking a little flustered.

Song Lili looked at Xia Niu speechlessly. Did she really look that fierce or terrifying? Why did Xia Niu shrink away as soon as she saw her?

She didn't seem to have done anything to scare Xia Niu, did she?

"Sister-in-law, no need, you should eat quickly. Fangfang can still serve you rice, no need to go check, otherwise the noodles will get soggy."

"Well... okay... alright," Xia Niu sat down, looking somewhat at a loss, and then glanced at Song Jianshe with a pitiful expression.

Song Lili couldn't help but roll her eyes. What did this mean? It was as if she had done something unforgivable.

Song Lili couldn't take it anymore. "Sister-in-law, I don't think I've offended you, have I? Why are you acting like this?"

"Anyone who doesn't know the situation might think that I, your sister-in-law, have bullied you. Everyone's here, so tell me, what have I done to you?"

Why do you act like a mouse before a cat? Did I bully you?

"No...no, no, Lili, you didn't bully me, you didn't bully me." Xia Niu panicked even more after Song Lili said that.

She stood up excitedly, waving her hands and explaining anxiously, "Lili, you've been so good to me, and Dada and Fangfang have been so good to me too. They haven't bullied me."

"Then why are you putting on that face? It's like I've done something heinous."

"Since we haven't bullied you, can you get along with everyone normally? Don't act like you're being ostracized by our whole family. Who are you trying to impress with that act?"

Seeing Luo Juan's bad mood, she vented it all on Xia Niu. It can only be said that Xia Niu was unlucky.

Otherwise, Song Lili could have tolerated her and let her continue like this for a while before she exploded. However, Luo Juan acted as a trigger today, causing Xia Niu to be scolded by Song Lili ahead of time.

"No...I...I didn't, I really didn't..." Xia Niu started to cry. "I didn't say you bullied me."

"I...I just can't get used to it, yes...I just can't get used to it." Xia Niu's voice grew softer and softer as she spoke, while her sobs grew louder and louder.

Song Lili ruffled her hair in frustration, slammed her hand on the table, and suddenly stood up. "I'm not eating. You guys eat."

She couldn't help but feel a little resentful, blaming Song Yongren for not listening to her back then, and now look what happened, she's ended up with such a troublesome person.

She hadn't even said anything yet, but the other person portrayed the weak and pitiful victim so vividly that they forced her to become the bad guy. Why did she feel so frustrated?

Song Lili angrily pushed open their door, slammed it shut with a loud bang, and then breathed a sigh of relief.

Out of sight, out of mind. No matter what she does, as long as she can't see it, it's as if nothing happened.

Song Lili lay on her back on the kang, her mind a jumble of thoughts. One moment she was wondering what Luo Juan would do next, and the next she was wondering why Xia Niu was acting that way.

Her mind was a jumbled mess, without any clear plan, and she drifted off to sleep.

Outside, after Song Lili left, Xia Niu could no longer hold back her grievances and started to cry.

"Xia Niu, don't cry. Lili is probably just tired today, that's why she's in a bad mood. Don't take her words to heart, she wasn't targeting you," Song Jianshe quickly comforted her.

"Xia Niu, don't cry. It's Lili's fault. Da Da will have her apologize to you tomorrow. Stop crying and sit down to eat." Song Yongren said somewhat awkwardly.

Meanwhile, Song Fang, hiding behind a full bowl of noodles, stood at the doorway, her clear eyes fixed on a few people not far away.

"I...I'm...I'm fine. It's my fault...it's not Lili's fault. It's my fault. I...I'm fine, Dad."

As Xia Niu spoke, she wiped away her tears, and unexpectedly her eyes met Song Fang's clear gaze.

For some reason, when Xia Niu met those clear, spring-like eyes, she suddenly felt a little guilty and didn't dare to look at Song Fang.

It seems that those eyes you sent could see right through her, leaving her nowhere to hide and revealing her ugly side.

Her smile was somewhat awkward and stiff. "Big Brother, let's eat. I... I'll go check on Lili and apologize to her."

"I'm going!" Song Fang said, picked up her rice bowl, turned around and left, completely ignoring the expressions on the faces of the people behind her.

Xia Niu, who had just lifted her foot, didn't know whether to put it down or step out. She stood there awkwardly, her face flushed red with embarrassment.

"Xia Niu, sit down. Fangfang can go see her sister. You should eat your food and leave Lili alone."

As he spoke, Song Yongren sat down, picked up his bowl, and started eating. He had always done it this way before, so he didn't feel anything was different.

Song Jianshe then sat down as well, and didn't forget to pull Xia Niu along, saying, "Xia Niu, sit down and eat quickly. Lili has Fangfang, so it's fine."

As she spoke, she pushed Xia Niu's bowl towards her, saying, "Eat quickly, or the noodles will get soggy and won't taste good."

"Don't worry, Lili isn't that petty. Everything will be fine tomorrow."

“I’ve made her angry before, but she’s fine the next day, so you don’t have to worry. Lili will forget about it tomorrow.”

Song Jianshe thought his sister was probably tired from going to town today, which was why she was so irritable earlier.

Another reason is that Xia Niu has a gentle personality, while her younger sister is straightforward and decisive, which is why she doesn't like Xia Niu's appearance.

Given enough time, once everyone gets to know each other, such misunderstandings will not occur.

"I'll talk to Lili tomorrow, she definitely won't be angry, so don't worry," Song Jianshe rambled on, completely ignoring Xia Niu's face, which was practically burning with anger.

Song Yongren kept his head down and ate his meal, so he didn't notice Xia Niu's flushed cheeks.

Song Yongren felt that this was a matter for the children, and it was not appropriate for an adult like him to interfere, so only Xia Niu was left with her face changing color from pale to flushed.
