Chapter 173 Song Lili, the Money-Giving Boy

The next day, Song Lili went to the place where the elderly people lived before everyone else got up early in the morning.

As soon as she reached the gate of the big fence, her eyes met Li Zhiyuan's. "Grandpa Li, why are you up so early?"

To avoid being seen by others, she got up more than forty minutes earlier than usual, but unexpectedly, Li Zhiyuan got up even earlier than her.

“It’s getting late. We used to have to get up at five o’clock for morning exercises, so this is considered late,” Li Zhiyuan said casually, then suddenly fell silent.

Song Lili was looking down as she opened the door, unaware that Li Zhiyuan's face had turned deathly pale after he said those words, staring at her in terror.

"Grandpa Li, what's wrong?" Song Lili looked up again and saw Li Zhiyuan swaying precariously. "Grandpa, are you feeling unwell? Shall I take you to the hospital?"

Song Lili quickly went over to support Li Zhiyuan, afraid that he would fall. He was old and his body couldn't withstand a fall.

When Song Lili came closer, Li Zhiyuan grabbed her arm tightly with all his might.

Song Lili felt as if an iron clamp was tightly gripping her wrist, causing her to sweat profusely and tears to well up in her eyes.

But she didn't dare let go of Li Zhiyuan, for fear that he would drop her. It wasn't until Wu Zhongge came out that Song Lili was freed.

"Old Li, what are you doing? Let go! You're going to break that girl's hand! You're such a rough guy, how could you squeeze a girl's wrist like that?"

As Wu Zhongge spoke, he used all his strength to pry Li Zhiyuan's hand open and then violently flung it away.

Wu Zhongge looked at Song Lili's wrist, which was red all over, with heartache. "Lili, are you alright? Does it hurt? Move it around a bit first."

Wu Zhongge was worried that Li Zhiyuan might actually break the little girl's wrist.

Song Lili moved slightly, and then hissed in pain, gasping for breath. It really hurt, like being burned by fire.

"It's nothing, it's just a little red." She endured the pain and moved around a bit more, feeling that it was just a superficial injury and the bone should be fine.

To be honest, Song Lili really felt like her bones were about to break just now. The pain was like having her bones shattered, and she didn't want to experience it a second time.

"Grandpa, I'm fine. I'll be alright in a few days, so don't worry," Song Lili quickly told Wu Zhongge, who was still worried, after confirming that he was alright.

"Are you really alright? Should we go to the hospital to get checked out? Otherwise, the old man will always feel uneasy."

"It's alright, Grandpa. We'll see tomorrow. If it gets worse tomorrow, I'll go to the hospital. Don't worry, I know what's serious."

"Sigh... alright, remember that yourself." Wu Zhongge still gave him a worried reminder, then looked at Li Zhiyuan angrily, "Old Li, why are you treating the little girl like that?"

"I...I...I didn't mean to." Li Zhiyuan had recovered from his initial fear and felt guilty, as well as uneasy.

Therefore, when he spoke, his voice was no longer as deep and resonant as before, but instead carried a timid quality.

He looked at Song Lili with concern, but he didn't know how to say it or how to explain it.

After thinking carefully about what had happened, Song Lili understood why Li Zhiyuan had acted that way.

Because Li Zhiyuan was perfectly normal before she opened the door, so it was only because of that earlier comment about morning exercises that he was allowed to leave.

She smiled and said, "Grandpa Li, I'm fine. I just checked, and my bones are fine. Don't worry."

"Lili...Grandpa is so sorry...Grandpa is...because..."

"Grandpa, it's alright. I think you just didn't control your strength well. You're so healthy, it's normal for you to be a little stronger. I understand, I'm like that myself."

To ease Li Zhiyuan's embarrassment and awkwardness, she spoke first, using herself as an example, just to put Li Zhiyuan at ease.

Sure enough, upon hearing Song Lili's words, Li Zhiyuan immediately echoed, "Yes, Grandpa is a rough old man. I hurt you. I'm sorry."

"It's alright, Grandpa, I already said it will be fine in a few days." Song Lili didn't want to dwell on it any longer. "I came today to deliver some things to you."

Zhao Qian and Qian Xianming also came out to check because of Wu Zhongge's questioning earlier, and happened to hear Song Lili's words.

"No need, girl. You've already given us so much. Don't come over every few days. Just keep it for yourselves." Zhao Qian looked at Song Lili with affection.

“Grandma, this isn’t something I gave you. Brother Qian asked me to pass it on to you. I can’t make that decision myself.”

"Xiao Lin asked you to bring this?" Qian Xianming asked in surprise, his eyes filled with joy and delight.

Song Lili took out the money from her pocket. "Yes, Brother Qian said this is his salary, and he told you to keep it for emergencies."

As she spoke, Song Lili stuffed the money into Qian Xianming's hand. This was Qian Liulin's relative, so giving it to him was definitely the right thing to do. As for how the other elderly people used it, that was not something she could worry about.

"Sigh... Xiao Lin is so filial, he cares about us old folks and thinks about us old folks too." Zhao Qian couldn't help but sigh.

“Yes, otherwise, we old bones would be in some corner being torn apart by wild dogs,” Li Zhiyuan said.

"Old Li, shut your mouth! I'm not like that at all!" Wu Zhongge shouted angrily.

Song Lili chuckled and said, "That's right, Brother Qian is very kind, so Grandpa and Grandma, you will be very kind to each other in the future too."

Qian Xianming took out a ten-yuan note from the money Song Lili had given him and handed it to her, saying, "Girl, this is for you."

Song Lili quickly put her hands behind her back. "Grandpa, I can't accept this. This is for you. Please put it away."

"This is yours. Consider it payment for all the things you've given us. Otherwise, we feel bad about always accepting your things."

"Grandpa, you don't need to worry about that. Brother Qian thought of that long ago, and he gave me the money in advance. This money is for you, and he will give me my money separately."

"Really?" Qian Xianming seemed somewhat skeptical, looking at Song Lili with a doubtful gaze.

"Of course, I took mine, this is yours, that's why I brought it over to you."

"Otherwise, Grandpa, do you think all those things I gave you were just for free? I would never do such a losing business. I'm very shrewd."

"Yes, yes, you're so smart, the smartest girl I've ever met," Zhao Qian said with a smile, patting Song Lili's arm.

“That’s right,” Song Lili said, deliberately raising her head in a proud manner, which made the elderly people laugh.

Zhao Qian also took the opportunity to nudge Qian Xianming, pointed to the money in his hand, and told him to put it away.
