But she was wrong. A moment later, she received another hard kick to her calf, much stronger than before, accompanied by an ambiguous look.
Song Lili just couldn't understand why Zhang Qinghua always managed to be so unintentional. Could it be that he did it on purpose?
But why would Zhang Qinghua kick her on purpose? There's no reason for it, and Song Lili didn't want to think the worst of him.
She thought she was still a bit too close, so this time she didn't move. Instead, she stood up and took two or three steps back, about three meters away from the wheat. She thought to herself, "This time I can't kick it, right?"
Unfortunately, she was wrong again; she got kicked again, and this time even harder than the previous two times.
Song Lili was furious. She knew Zhang Qinghua was doing this on purpose. She glared at Zhang Qinghua and gave him a hard look.
"Are you sick? Why did you kick me? What did I do to you?" Because she was angry, her voice was loud, and all the adults and children around the stage looked over.
Zhang Qinghua's face turned slightly red from holding back his anger. He couldn't hide his embarrassment no matter what he did, and his eyes also held a hint of anger as he looked at Song Lili.
"Idiot, moron"
After saying this angrily, Zhang Qinghua led the livestock away, ignoring Song Lili who was furious.
Zhang Qinghua thought Song Lili was too stupid. He had given her such a hint, how could she not realize it?
Now that so many people are watching, he can't even offer a hint; he can only hope she can come up with something.
The way those people were looking at him made Zhang Qinghua feel very uncomfortable and out of place, and he couldn't bring himself to give a public warning.
Everyone knows this is a tacit understanding; no one would be foolish enough to say it out loud. But how could Song Lili be so stupid? Hasn't she learned it after all these years?
After turning a corner, Zhang Qinghua saw that Song Lili was still staring at him, and he felt helpless again. He couldn't resist Song Lili's gaze.
He let out a sigh that even he himself couldn't hear, and slowly approached Song Lili. Under her angry gaze, he whispered, "Fool, look at what everyone else is doing."
After saying that, he led the livestock and continued walking forward.
Song Lili found it strange. Why was she looking at other people? She wasn't just bored; looking at others was less appealing than just spacing out!
And that facial paralysis "Li Qinghua," he was so ruthless, kicking her so hard that her calf is now in excruciating pain, and it's probably bruised.
Thinking about it, Song Lili got angry again. She was still angry, but he acted like nothing had happened and even let her look at other people.
What's so great about other people? They're pale and thin, with sparse hair, and some haven't washed their hair in days; it's greasy and disgusting to look at.
What's so interesting about those people?
Filled with anger, Song Lili turned her head, but then forgot about her anger and was filled with regret. Her heart skipped a beat.
Despite her carefulness, she still made a mistake and forgot to put food in her pocket again.
For a moment, Song Lili's body was stiff, her mind was blank, but the fear welling up from the bottom of her heart was so obvious.
Her hands trembled involuntarily, and her lips trembled as well. Even when she clenched her fists and pursed her lips, it was to no avail.
That fear was a fear of knowing nothing at all, a fear of the times, and even more so, a fear that her abnormality would be discovered by others and endanger her.
She heard too many crazy things about this era from her grandmother, things that always gave her a sense of terror and made her instinctively avoid them.
They always thought about protecting themselves and avoiding crises, never considering taking the initiative to secure a safe future for themselves.
That's why she avoided Luo Weijia, Luo Juan, and even Luo Yuejin, only associating with Yang Mei. Even Zhang Qinghua and the others were just sidelined with Yang Mei.
She was afraid, afraid of the disaster that was to come, and she didn't trust anyone. She was always on edge about everything.
So now that she has discovered that she has made a mistake again, how could she not be afraid?
Zhang Qinghua had already noticed that something was wrong with Song Lili. He handed the livestock to Li Qinghua, who was standing nearby, and quickly went to Song Lili's side.
Then he saw Song Lili's face was pale, her lips were trembling, and in those cool eyes that he liked, there was fear and dread.
His first reaction was that he couldn't let others see Song Lili like this. This thought came out of nowhere, but he immediately stood in front of Song Lili to prevent others from seeing her expression.
Then, he looked at Song Lili and asked cautiously, "What's wrong?"
"No...it's nothing..." Song Lili didn't know how much self-control she had to use to avoid breaking down. Even though her voice was trembling, her emotions remained relatively stable.
She pinched her palm hard, trying to tell herself not to panic, to stay calm, and not to give herself away first.
She took several deep breaths, and after that, her expression was no longer telling. Only she knew what she was really feeling inside.
After composing herself, she looked Zhang Qinghua straight in the eye and said, "I'm fine." She didn't want to say anything more, nor could she.
Zhang Qinghua carefully examined Song Lili and found that she had returned to normal. He didn't mention that her expression was off earlier, but simply moved his foot and stood next to Song Lili.
Then Zhang Qinghua squatted down, and pulled Song Lili down with him, squatting at the edge of the wheat field like everyone else.
He brushed aside the straw to reveal the wheat grains that had been threshed, grabbed a handful, blew off the husks, and popped them into his mouth to chew.
