Chapter 42: Just Waiting for the Harvest

Song Lili wanted to wait a few more days to grow a little longer, but Wang Daming wanted to take them all at once.

Song Lili objected, "No, the time isn't right yet." Most importantly, selling now wouldn't increase the weight, and she was desperately short of money.

But Wang Daming also had his own reasons: "It's even better this way. The tenderer it is, the more people like it and the more they want to buy it and try it." Maybe it will be gone in less than a day.

Song Lili pouted, "What does this have to do with me? Can you give me more money? If not, then forget it."

Wang Daming shut up.

He could only force a smile and approach Song Lili, "Lili, it's only a few days, it's no big deal. Look, this time I'll take them all, so you don't have to go through all that trouble again, right? That's much more convenient, isn't it?"

Song Lili glanced at him sideways and said, "I won't sell it no matter what. If you want it, come back in a few days."

Song Lili was unusually resolute, but Wang Daming was not so easily appeased, and the two began to argue back and forth.

The final decision was that only one of the two cabbages grown in the greenhouses would be sold, and the other would be kept.

After the two reached an agreement, the Song family and Wang Daming, a total of five people, worked together and quickly pulled out all the cabbages.

The larger ones weighed 58 jin, and the smaller ones weighed 53 jin. Song Lili received a total of eleven yuan.

This time, Song Lili took five yuan directly. She didn't want to end up like last time, with all her money gone in the blink of an eye, and not a single penny left in the house.

She still has a lot of things to buy.

Song Lili's actions evoked a variety of emotions in the group.

Song Yongren was initially happy, but then felt heartbroken.

Song Jianshe's situation was much simpler: envy, jealousy, and hatred. His sister was richer than him; where was the justice?

Song Fang was simply happy; she was just happy to have money now.

Song Lili didn't care about all that; she just wanted the money in her own hands.

He gave Song Yongren the same six yuan and told him to use it to buy things.

However, based on Song Lili's understanding of him, she figured that aside from paying off debts, he would probably save the rest of the money.

So Song Lili got a lot this time. Anyway, if Song Yongren doesn't buy it, she will. Now that she has money, there's no reason for her to treat herself badly.

The whole family worked together to load the cucumbers onto the truck, waiting for Wang Daming to leave. Unexpectedly, he looked at the cucumbers in the greenhouse with a regretful expression.

"Hey...why are all your cucumbers so small? I was thinking of taking some with me this time, but they're too small."

He shook his head as he spoke, looking as if he had lost several hundred dollars.

Song Lili laughed and scolded, "You're only interested in these few things of mine. Even if you have them, I won't sell them. I want to keep them for the New Year."

There were only a few cucumbers left. The big ones were all given to Yangmei's family, and the smaller ones will grow a little longer so they can be eaten during the Chinese New Year.

Wang Daming was even more disappointed. "Lili, you really don't know how to make money. All that money you're wasting is money."

Song Lili kicked Wang Daming angrily, "I'm willing. Is it any of your business?"

Then, remembering Zhang Qinghua and the others, he immediately asked, "Do you still want cabbage?"

Wang Daming exclaimed in surprise, "Lili, you're willing to sell the rest?"

"Get lost. A few of my friends also grew cabbages, about the same quantity as the ones I gave you today. They're the tender kind you like. Do you want some?"

"Yes, yes, yes..." Wang Daming nodded like a chicken pecking at rice. Of course he wanted it, he wanted as much as he could get.

Song Lili waved her hand and said, "Then come with me and let's ask if they're selling it."

Wang Daming felt uneasy, thinking that with Song Lili around, those people probably wouldn't really want to sell.

For a moment, I felt sullen and the atmosphere became heavy, and that's how we arrived at the brigade.

Song Lili went directly to knock on Zhang Qinghua's door.

Then a clear voice asked, "Who is it? Come in."

Song Lili pushed open the door and saw a thin, small girl dressed in very clean clothes looking at the doorway.

Song Lili smiled, recognizing Zhang Qinghua's sister, Zhang Aiai, and asked, "Is your older brother here? I need to talk to him."

Zhang Aiai glanced at Song Lili curiously before shouting into the main room, "Big Brother..."

Zhang Qinghua saw Song Lili walk out as soon as she pushed the door open.

Upon hearing Zhang Aiai's voice, she quickly replied, "Coming."

Song Lili didn't say anything else, and went straight to asking, "How are your cabbages growing? Are you going to sell them? Someone is buying them today."

Zhang Qinghua then noticed Wang Daming following behind Song Lili. His eyes flickered slightly, and he nodded, "It's fine to sell it now."

It's only a few days different anyway, it won't make much difference.

"Alright, a few of you go and pick the vegetables. Cash on delivery. By the way, what about Daqing's family? Are they selling?"

Zhang Qinghua really didn't know. "I'll have Qingguo go ask him." He shouted into the house, "Qingguo, go ask your brother Qinghua."
