Whether it was true or not, it piqued his interest, and he chased after it even more enthusiastically.
Chu Ci is unaware that because of this one incident, Song Lili will torment him for the rest of his life.
All he wanted to know was how long the people in front of him would have to run before they couldn't run anymore and had to stop.
And so, one person ran with all their might, while the other chased slowly, traversing through the mountains and forests.
Because she didn't know the way, Song Lili wandered around for several hours before finally crossing a mountain.
She was completely exhausted. She had been running for hours, and if she hadn't known she couldn't stop, and didn't dare to stop, she would have been lying on the ground by now.
She felt that she had exceeded her physical limits several times.
However, no matter how hard she tried to grit her teeth and persevere, she couldn't hold on any longer.
Finally, her legs gave way and she collapsed to her knees on the ground covered with withered grass and pebbles, her knees throbbing with pain.
Her face was deathly pale, and she let out a weak scream, too painful to move.
Even so, she still gripped the kitchen knife tightly in her hand, never letting go or throwing it away.
Once the pain subsided, she used her hands to support herself and slowly sat down on the ground, hiding the kitchen knife under her legs so that no one could see it unless she took it out.
She could no longer run, but the people chasing her hadn't stopped.
Song Lili had cursed herself countless times: How could these bandits be so idle? They'd been chasing her for hours, didn't they need to go and rob other people?
Could it be that they know she possesses some treasure, which is why they're so persistent in pursuing her? But she herself doesn't even know what treasure she has.
Then all I can say is that the people chasing after them are crazy.
Song Lili thought bitterly, and also thought that if they caught up with her, she would dare to kill them if they dared to touch her.
With a plan in mind, she relaxed, casually leaning against the withered grass, looking behind her, waiting for the people to arrive.
After waiting for a while, she finally saw Chu Ci slowly appear in her line of sight on horseback.
Song Lili remained on guard, but even when Chu Ci and Ma stood in front of her, she still didn't see anyone else.
Is there more to come?
No, she could hear the sounds the whole time. Those people couldn't be far away, so it was just one person?
Song Lili had countless things she wanted to say.
Why did she have to run for so long by herself? Wouldn't it have been better to stop sooner? A sudden surge of anger welled up inside me.
She glared angrily at Chu Ci as he approached, tightening her grip on the kitchen knife in her hand as she watched him warily.
Chu Ci also stared at Song Lili with curiosity. He only knew that she was a teenage girl, but he couldn't see her face clearly because it was dark.
It was almost dawn, and with the faint light, and because he was close by, he finally saw Song Lili's face clearly.
At first glance, he exclaimed in admiration, "What a pair of bright and expressive eyes! They seem to speak, or rather, they hold a clear spring within them, crystal clear and sparkling."
He had a very good impression of Song Lili from the first impression.
Song Lili, however, had no liking for Chu Ci; she was so angry she felt like she was about to vomit blood.
She stared at Chu Ci, fearing he might do something to harm her, but all she got was Chu Ci staring at her without doing anything.
Song Lili wondered to herself, "Could this person really be sick? Otherwise, why would they keep staring at me?"
Chu Ci, having seen enough, gave a wide, seemingly amiable smile and said, "Little girl, you run pretty fast. I've been chasing you all this way."
Song Lili rolled her eyes. "I didn't ask you to chase after me." I wish you wouldn't come, but who told you to be so shameless and insist on coming?
Chu Ci laughed even more heartily, "Yes, it really was my own idea to come, but how come you're so interesting? So I followed you here to see."
Song Lili was completely speechless.
You were interested, so you walked her around for hours like you were walking a dog?
Is this person mentally ill?
Song Lili was completely speechless, her eyes practically rolling to the heavens.
Seeing Song Lili's obvious disdain, Chu Ci became even more interested and even dismounted from his horse to stand face to face with Song Lili.
"What's your name? Which brigade in Hongqi Village are you from? How come you're so interesting?" Chu Ci asked with great interest.
Song Lili took a few steps back, moving a little away from Chu Ci, and looked up at him, saying, "What's it to you? Why should I tell you? Would you come knocking on my door if I told you?"
She's not that stupid!
Chu Ci did not give up. He moved closer to Song Lili again, squatted down, and got to the same level as Song Lili.
"Tell me, or aren't you afraid I'll stab you?" Chu Ci pretended to be fierce and took out the long sword tucked at his waist and waved it.
Song Lili remained unmoved, wanting to say, "Dude, are you just bored and looking for trouble? Are you trying to mess with me?"
However, she didn't want to say these words. All the worry, fear, and heartache she had felt from last night until now had turned into resentment, and she kept touching the kitchen knife in her hand.
She is now unable to move and can only ignore Chu Ci.
But Chu Ci seemed to be acting like a masochist; the more Song Lili ignored him, the more he wanted to tease her.
And so, he approached Song Lili again with a grin, the long knife in his hand still gleaming coldly. "You have no idea, this knife of mine has slashed several people today." Although it was all with the back of the blade, it still counts as slashing.
Song Lili shrank back again, but Chu Ci moved closer, as if he wouldn't give up until Song Lili spoke.
