Chapter Fifteen: A Huge Misunderstanding

Song Lili clapped her hands happily, "Yes, that's right! We need to interact more. Only through mutual exchange can our relationship deepen. I will definitely help you."

Zhang Qinghua nodded, "Okay, you'll be able to help."

Having reached this point in the conversation, Zhang Qinghua didn't want to say any more. "Let's go, it's getting late." The most important thing was that he needed to think about how to treat her in the future.

Song Lili fared better this time. Having gone through it once, she understood the process and was much better, climbing up quickly.

Song Lili said to Zhang Qinghua, "I might come back here again later, but I'm too scared to go down alone. Will you come with me?"

Zhang Qinghua nodded, he was worried about her coming alone. "Okay, just come and call me, don't come alone."

Song Lili nodded. She wouldn't dare come alone, at least not now. She'd think about it later.

Zhang Qinghua held the rabbit that had been thrown on the ground. The rabbit hadn't moved and its body temperature was very low, so it seemed to be dead.

Then, he carefully helped up the grass that the two people had trampled before leaving.

After a few days of rain, there won't be any trace of anyone having been here.

As for the large hole that the two people outside crawled into, it couldn't be completely repaired. We could only try to plug it up and make the bushes even messier.

Song Lili stayed by Zhang Qinghua's side the whole time, watching him work and silently recording all the steps he took.

From now on, she will need to be even more discreet, and she will need to learn these skills.

This time, Song Lili and Zhang Qinghua did not return the way they came, but went directly down to the bottom of the mountain so that Song Lili could familiarize herself with the place.

Standing below, Song Lili realized where she was and roughly knew its location, because the cave was still there decades later, although the cliff was no longer as steep and people could now enter.

After Song Lili got to know the place, the two climbed the mountain again, searching for something as they went to the place where they had parted ways with Li Qinghua and the others.

On the way, they saw several pheasants, but they couldn't catch them and they got away. They only managed to collect a few wild eggs and some wild vegetables.

Li Qinghua and Yang Mei were getting impatient, but they didn't know where to find the two people, so they could only wait while looking for wild vegetables.

Li Qinghua comforted Yang Mei, "Don't worry, with Qinghua with you, Lili will definitely be fine. They probably found something good, which is why they were delayed."

He also had a selfish motive: to give his brother some space to be alone together, since his brother had never cared about a girl this much before.

He himself also needed a space for two, and although the two of them understood each other without saying a word, he still felt uneasy.

And so, while saying they were fine, he made the most of his time to spend with Meimei. Who was his brother? He was a ruthless man, you know?

It was during those three years of hunger that he never realized how ruthless and kind his brothers were.

Therefore, Li Qinghua was not actually worried; it was just that Yang Mei was worried, so he couldn't pretend to be carefree.

Seeing Zhang Qinghua and Song Lili return safely, he simply gave them a smile, a smile that only Zhang Qinghua understood.

Yang Mei reacted much more strongly: "Lili, why did you take so long? I was so worried about you, I was afraid something had happened to you."

Touched, Song Lili smiled and said, "That rabbit was so fast! We chased it for a long way, and I was so tired that I rested for a while."

"On the way back, we encountered pheasants, but we didn't catch them. We only brought back a few eggs." As he spoke, he unfolded Zhang Qinghua's clothes, which he was holding, and you could see about a dozen eggs inside.

They left so suddenly that they left their basket behind, so Zhang Qinghua had no choice but to take off his clothes to use as a bundle.

Yang Mei was delighted, saying, "This is already very good. Eggs are a rare treat; we might not even get to eat them once a year at home." But her family was an exception; they could eat them several times a year.

But I still crave it! These days, everyone's starving!

Finally, after some arguing, the two Qinghuas took the rabbit, since they lived together and it would be easier to divide it among themselves. Song Lili and Yang Mei took the dozen or so eggs.

The basket for holding the eggs was lent to Song Lili by Zhang Qinghua, who told her to return it when she had time.

The wild eggs were divided equally between Song Lili and Yang Mei, eight eggs each. They both happily took them home.

The Song family members were overjoyed to see the wild eggs that Song Lili brought back, especially the youngest, Song Fang, who, being young and not yet able to hide her excitement, had eyes that practically lit up with delight.

Song Yongren, however, was more worried about Song Lili and asked her, "Lili, where did you get these eggs?"
