Chapter Ninety: Xu Youcai Returns, Yang Mei Gets Married

Having found some good stuff today, Song Lili decided to thoroughly plunder Wang Daming, this nouveau riche, and take everything she could.

Seeing Song Lili pouncing on her food like a hungry wolf, Wang Daming cried out anxiously, "Hey, leave some for me! You can't take it all! What am I supposed to eat if you take it all?"

Song Lili glanced at him sideways and said, "Here you go, can you even cook?"

Wang Daming honestly shook his head, "No, so I..." He was just about to find someone to learn from.

"I can cook. I've already taken them all. Come to my house for dinner tomorrow, and I'll cook for you."

Song Lili wasn't going to listen to what Wang Daming was trying to say; this was a good thing, and she had to take it herself.

Fish soup is good for the body, so it's a good opportunity to nourish the family. Wang Daming just did it on a whim.

Wang Daming, interrupted by Song Lili, could only nod and say, "Okay, I'll go out for dinner tomorrow. Please let your uncle know."

"Consider this my way of wishing you a Happy New Year. I have to go home for the New Year today, so I can't visit your house to wish you a Happy New Year."

Wang Daming also thought it would be nice to have dinner at Song Lili's house.

He'll do it himself, and who knows how well it'll turn out? Of course, we should be eager to participate in such a good opportunity to get something for free.

Before leaving, Song Lili told Wang Daming, "You'd better bring a gift when you come, because you can't visit someone for the New Year empty-handed."

Enraged, Wang Daming shouted from behind, "You stingy little devil! You took all the good stuff, and you still want gifts? Have you no shame?"

Song Lili ignored her, took the fish and shrimp, bought some candy and pastries, and thinking of rice to go with the fish, bought some rice as well, before heading home.

The next day, Song Lili started processing the fish and shrimp very early in the morning.

The fish and shrimp I had were long dead; they were just preserved for a longer time because of the cold winter weather. They hadn't been processed, so they're not easy to handle now.

Therefore, she had some difficulty handling it.

The rest of the Song family were seeing this for the first time and were very curious. When Song Lili first brought it back, she was fascinated by it for a long time.

Even today, Song Fang has been following behind her the whole time, watching her handle things, and even her seventeen-year-old older brother, Song Jianshe, keeps wandering around.

Song Lili couldn't help but find it amusing. She gave Song Fang a shrimp and told her to go play by herself, while Song Jianshe didn't bother with her.

In the afternoon, Wang Daming arrived early. When Song Lili heard that Yang Mei and Daqing had gone back to their parents' home, she asked Song Fang to call them over as well.

The two people were incredibly curious about the fish and shrimp, and stayed around Song Lili for a long time before she chased them away.

Yang Mei asked with amusement, "Lili, is there anything I can help you with?" Yang Mei always felt embarrassed not to help.

"No, I'm almost done. I'll just fry a fish in a bit."

The shrimp were already cooked, so it's okay if they get cold. Besides, they're still warm on the stove, so they won't get cold.

Other vegetables can be stir-fried easily, but she's stewing fish soup right now, which takes a bit longer.

Song Lili brought back a total of four fish. She decided to make soup with one, steam one, and fry one, and eat them all in one meal.

The shrimp are fried, and with a few more stir-fried dishes, it'll be a hearty meal.

Yang Mei looked at Song Lili with emotion and said, "Whoever marries you in the future will be happy. Just the skill you have is enough."

Then, somewhat frustrated, she said, "I'm not good at it. I can only cook a few dishes, and the ones we usually eat. I can't cook anything as complicated as this."

Song Lili comforted her, "You'll get it slowly. Do it a few more times, and you'll be just like me."

She developed this skill by living alone all by herself.

Yang Mei wasn't really sad. Hearing Song Lili say that, she nodded in agreement, "That's right. No one else can make so many delicious things at such a young age like you."

Song Lili wiped her hands, pushed Yang Mei out of the kitchen, and went to the main room. "You'll be able to do it too in the future." As long as you learn, you can learn it.

Inside the main room, Wang Daming smelled the delicious aromas wafting from the kitchen, his mouth watering, his eyes fixed on the kitchen, yearning for it.

Seeing Song Lili come in, he couldn't wait to ask, "Is it ready? Is it ready? Can we eat now?"

Song Lili rolled her eyes at him, annoyed. "Not yet. Are you that hungry? You're not going to starve yourself all day just to eat this one meal, are you?"

Wang Daming retorted, "How could that be? It's because your cooking smelled so good that it whetted my appetite and made me feel hungry."

Song Lili found his words amusing: "Almost done, almost done. The soup will be ready soon, and we can eat after frying a fish."

Then, I went to the kitchen to keep an eye on things.
