Chapter 81

As a former capitalist, Su Yu had done this kind of thing many times before.

In this era of housing shortage, buying a house is incredibly difficult.

So, the Su family's 20-square-meter house was truly a 'rare commodity' at this time. Even if they were to sell it, they would want to get a good price and gain a good favor. Otherwise, it would be a huge loss.

The buyer will naturally take a good look. They must choose one that suits their taste.

The rest of the Su family didn't care who Su Yu planned to sell the house to; for them, the most important thing right now was moving.

The whole family went to look at houses recently. They saw those rows of red-tiled houses. Spacious and bright houses, each with its own room. Two rooms facing the sun, one for the eldest sister and one for Zhi.

Su Dazhi and Liu Mei had nothing to say about this. As the eldest sister, she was the head of the household, so it was only right that she get a good room. As for Zhi… well, he was the one who paid the most when they bought the house.

In my sister's family, fairness is paramount; we must be impartial and ensure no one suffers any setbacks.

After the meeting, everyone packed up their belongings. We're usually too busy with work to organize these things, so we could only do it slowly at home in the evening.

Su Lin peeked over and asked, "Sis, after we move, can I invite my classmates over to play?"

Su Yu was reading a book when she heard this and looked up at her. "What are you reading?"

"Look at our house."

"What does our house have to do with other people's business? Fourth brother, your thinking is wrong. Let me teach you a lesson: keep a low profile and make a fortune quietly. Look at me, I had to wait until I got promoted before I could buy a bicycle. Why? Because when you have a certain level of financial strength, buying these things is normal for others. But it's different for you. You're still a student. Your classmates only see you as a person. Everyone else is struggling to live in a nice house, so why should you be living in one? In the long run, no one will associate with you anymore."

Why?

"Why bother? When people are chatting, they're talking about how cramped their houses are, and then you suddenly reveal that you live in a house of about 100 square meters. Wouldn't they feel awkward?"

Su Lin thought about it and realized it was indeed quite awkward.

"To avoid this awkward situation, will others stop playing with you, or even find fault with you in other situations?"

Su Lin nodded.

"That's right. So Lin, listen to your sister and be a simple student. Don't compare yourself to others; if you want to compare, compare your grades. Oh, and I also want to remind you, if you don't get into high school or vocational school, go weave cloth. You're always thinking about comparing yourself to others; I don't think you're putting any effort into your studies."

Su Lin: "..."

Su Yu continued reading, head down. This girl's competitive spirit needed to be curbed. What was there to compare? In a few years, school would become the most turbulent place; people would be eyeing only the most successful ones.

Su Lin returned to her bed, then took out her diary from under her pillow and wrote down her older sister's words: "Make a fortune in silence."

Dinner was on Sunday. Su Yu got up early to get ready. It was early spring, and the weather was getting warmer. She was wearing a blue cotton sweater knitted by Liu Mei, her hair was loose, and she used two hair clips to hold her bangs back, revealing her smooth forehead.

This is Su Yu's usual style: when dealing with male comrades in normal relationships, she exposes her entire forehead to appear more imposing.

When I went out, I saw it was only ten o'clock. I didn't mind that it was too late, so I just went out.

After all, Secretary Song had changed his ways, and who knew if he would arrive early? She took advantage of the time before everyone else arrived to talk to him about inviting the municipal party committee to the factory relocation meeting.

The driver today is Su Dazhi, as usual.

Su Dazhi is riding his bike quite steadily now. As he rode, he asked, "Sis, am I coming to pick you up the same time as before?"

"Okay, come early."

"Sis, are you still with those same people? I saw that guy last time, and he didn't seem to like me very much."

"Which one?" Su Yu was immediately displeased. Who would dare dislike his family members? Although they were indeed very unlikable, as a leader, he had to protect their dignity.

Su Dazhi said, "It's the one with the pale face."

Upon hearing this, Su Yu knew who it was. "It's nothing, he looks at everyone like that." Is it because he doesn't like your sister? No way.

Su Dazhi was relieved. He decided that when he came to pick up his sister, he would make sure he didn't run into that person.

Su Dazhi had a good plan in mind, but he ran into the person as soon as he arrived at the restaurant entrance.

Secretary Song rode his bicycle toward the restaurant, and the two arrived at the restaurant entrance at almost the same time.

Upon seeing Secretary Song, Su Dazhi was so nervous he almost dropped the hood of the car.

I felt really unlucky; how could I run into someone so soon after arriving at the restaurant?

Fortunately, Secretary Song didn't notice him at the moment, her eyes were fixed on Su Yu. Su Yu smiled at him, "Secretary Song, you're here so early too."

"Well, we can't be late for something as important as dinner." Secretary Song said as she parked the car. Then she looked at Su Dazhi, who had been keeping his head down.

He thought Su Yu's younger brother had grown up better; at least he didn't look as sleazy as before. He asked in a friendly manner, "Is this your brother?"

Su Dazhi shuddered.

Su Yu almost wanted to cover her face. "This is my younger brother. He's a very honest man." Then she said to Su Dazhi, "Dazhi, you should go back first."

Secretary Song said, "Why go back? We can have dinner together now that you're here. It's too much trouble to make him run around for just one meal."
