Chapter 44 Life is full of bragging

Fan Xiaofan looked up and replied, "Ah, yes, I just arrived."

Looking at her frail and weak appearance, the head chef muttered, "I haven't heard any news about hiring. My son is still waiting for news; could it be that he's missed out..."

Fan Xiaofan blinked. She was actually considered to have participated in the assessment, but nominally, she was indeed a person with connections.

"Probably not."

She wasn't quite sure when the factory held its recruitment exams.

As soon as Fan Xiaofan found a seat with her food, the canteen suddenly became lively. Workers who had finished their shifts came to eat, and the previously empty place was instantly filled with people.

She and Fu Weidong ate their cornbread slowly, and she would occasionally remind Fu Weidong, "Eat slowly, don't choke."

Fu Weidong nodded obediently.

To be honest, the food didn't taste very good. It was just boiled potatoes and cabbage in water. The so-called meat oil had long been assimilated into the large amount of potatoes and cabbage.

However, aside from finding the cornbread too hard to swallow, Fan Xiaofan wasn't too picky; it was better than eating the chemical poison he made himself.

A group of people sat around the table, dressed in the factory's distinctive blue work clothes, wolfing down their food to replenish their energy. They could have finished eating in the blink of an eye like a whirlwind, but halfway through, most of them swallowed their saliva and stopped, intending to take the food home for their families.

To avoid losing control, we started chatting instead.

"Haha, you don't know, when those D country folk saw us start work, they were yelling and their faces turned black..."

"Old Du, can you understand me?"

"I can't understand what they're saying, and I can't read people's expressions either. That group of people from Country D left early this morning, but when they heard that we had started work, they came back to see us and wanted to see our machines, but the factory manager stopped them."

The man called Lao Du had an arrogant, boastful look on his face.

"Hey, Lao Du, I'm so envious of you. You're using a new machine now. We'd love to try it out, but we haven't had a chance yet..."

Old Du coughed and said, "Strive to be an advanced worker, and you'll have a chance to earn it."

Old Du has always been an advanced worker in the factory, and only now is he fortunate enough to operate the new machine.

Fan Xiaofan noticed that Fu Weidong, who was originally eating his meal obediently, was now eavesdropping on people's conversations with his ears perked up, and his food was almost poking into his nostrils.

"Eat properly..."

She tapped his little head.

Fu Weidong chuckled. He knew that those machines were all thanks to Fairy Sister. Now, weren't these people praising Fan Xiaofan?

He really wanted the whole world to know how amazing his fairy sister was.

Fan Xiaofan only ate a small portion of the coarse grain cornbread before feeling full, while Fu Weidong, being a child, didn't have a big appetite and left the whole cornbread uneaten.

The two then packed up and left.

Old Du watched them leave with a hint of envy. Someone asked, "What happened to the siblings?"

He glanced around and, making sure no one was paying attention, lowered his voice: "You guys don't know, but I've heard that he's a relative of President Xu. He's been assigned to the technical office and even got an apartment... Be smart, don't offend the wrong people."

Old Du is a sensible man, and he doesn't mind giving these brothers a word of advice.

Someone couldn't help but say sourly, "He just arrived and was assigned to the technical office, and even got a house. It's really good to have connections..."

Old Du glared at him: "What's it to you? Why are you being so sour? If I don't share with others, why would I share with you?"
