Xing Baohua and Liu Quan walked outside the factory and squatted by the roadside.
“My uncle said that the factory is already studying this matter and has sent people to Liu Juanjuan’s home to persuade her.”
"What's the use? It's too late now."
“My uncle said that Liu Juanjuan and Xu Shuai might be transferred, since it would have a significant impact.”
"Damn, a bunch of hindsight experts, talking about impact, where were you before? You all act like you're the boss. Alright, it's been a whole day, you go back to the factory and keep an eye on things. It's a mess over there, I'm worried something might happen." Xing Baohua finished complaining and gave the order.
"Xu Shuai has a quick temper, so keep a close eye on him and make sure nothing else goes wrong," Liu Quan warned him as he left.
“Yes, I’ll take care of his affairs.” Xing Baohua said, then turned and went back.
Just as he reached the department door, he heard footsteps. The younger men on both sides, some of whom were squatting, stood up. Xing Baohua turned around and saw Xu Shuai running past.
His eyes were bloodshot. His face was contorted in a ferocious expression, as if he were about to devour someone.
Xu Fei must have already explained the process to him, otherwise he wouldn't have had that expression.
Just as he was about to rush into the room, Xing Baohua stretched out his arm and stopped him. He pulled him to his side and said in a low voice, "Don't be impulsive."
"Why? Why is this happening?" Xu Shuai was only 19 years old and hadn't experienced much in his life, so he had suffered some setbacks. He asked with a sob in his voice.
"I also want to know what to ask? Anyway, stay calm. We'll remember this grudge." Xing Baohua tried her best to calm Xu Shuai down.
There was nothing fun for them to stay in the factory yard, and they were only inconveniencing the workers, so Xing Baohua told Xu Fei to take his brothers back first. Xing Baohua took out ten yuan and handed it to Xu Fei, saying, "Buy some cigarettes, soda, ice cream, and we'll split it."
"Hua Zi, you're being too polite. We're all brothers, who wouldn't help if I called? I can handle this." Xu Fei said, seeing that even when he offered money, his face remained stern, and reached out to stop him.
“The brothers have been running around for half a day without even having a sip of water. We’re brothers with Xu Shuai, so we don’t stand on ceremony. But they can’t, so we have to be polite. They can come and help us out if we need anything in the future. Listen to me, buy some things to share.” Xing Baohua forced some things onto Xu Fei and said.
"I'll take the money for now. Call me if you need anything." Xu Fei handed over the money and left with his men.
Xing Baohua pushed the cart and accompanied Xu Shuai to his home. The two did not speak to each other along the way.
When they arrived at Xu Shuai's house, Xing Baohua said to him, "You should rest at home for a while. I'll give you a break."
Xu Shuai didn't reply, but went straight back into the house. Xing Baohua shook his head helplessly and left.
The next day, after arranging production, Liu Quan went to Xing Baohua's office to tell him about the things he had inquired about the day before.
Fearing some repercussions, the factory quickly dealt with several people, but no one knows where they've been transferred to yet.
Liu Juanjuan's father and cousin were called in for a talk; whether they can return is still uncertain.
As for why Liu Juanjuan's family did something so extreme, it was still because of that boyfriend she met at the mall.
I don't know what got into someone's head, but they had the matchmaker tell them they wanted the person, not the younger one. The conditions remain the same.
This gave Liu Juanjuan's family a glimmer of hope. Sometimes, traditional thinking holds that reason trumps law. Even though some aspects of the country's legal system are imperfect, the law is there, and you cannot transgress it.
As for Liu Juanjuan's transfer, Liu Quan also mentioned that she would be going to the machinery factory's provincial office. Xu Shuai, on the other hand, was transferred to the Eastern Oilfield Machinery Supply Station, where he would swap some tasks with an employee there.
One in the east, one in the west, the two lovers were completely separated. If they truly loved each other, they wouldn't have cared about living apart. In fact, many people were separated for work during this period.
"Find out the name of the person who works at the mall, and what their main responsibilities are," Xing Baohua instructed.
"Okay, I'll ask about it later." Liu Quan agreed. Actually, it was a bit of a challenge for him, as he wasn't the type to ask around and preferred to work diligently without asking questions.
A short while after Liu Quan left, Hong Mingliang walked in, holding a report, and handed it to Xing Baohua to look at.
Xing Baohua glanced at it and knew it was an employee attendance sheet. Xu Shuai's name was circled in red pen.
It was specifically marked for Xing Baohua to see. It contained Xu Shuai's absence records.
Xing Baohua crossed his arms over his chest, snorted coldly, and asked, "What, you want to kick me when I'm down?"
"No, I just wanted to show you so you could sign something," Hong Mingliang said with a slight smile.
If Xing Baohua signs the document, Xu Shuai will be short half of his paint job this month, and his salary will barely cover his minimum living expenses. Nothing else.
He quickly realized that Hong Mingliang's visit at this time was petty and lowered his standards. Did he want to see Xing Baohua's expression, or his look of unspoken suffering?
They just want to see Xing Baohua make a fool of himself. They're just here to cause trouble.
"I gave Xu Shuai some tasks during the days he was absent. I was so busy lately that I forgot to mention it."
"What mission?"
Xing Baohua smiled slightly and said, "Do you need to know?"
Seeing Hong Mingliang nod, Xing Baohua continued, "My task for him is to find a secluded place and play with the calculator."
“Director, you must distinguish between public and private matters! Is this excuse appropriate? Is this a three-year-old child? Playing with a calculator, did it break? If it broke, you need to pay for it.” Hong Mingliang still smiled as he spoke. Only his small eyes narrowed into slits, concealing the coldness in them.
Xing Baohua waved slightly at Hong Mingliang and said, "Come closer, I'm afraid you can't hear me."
"What?" Hong Mingliang actually leaned closer and peered forward.
