Chapter 12 Grand Prize

Wang Hu jogged away, his heart filled with admiration for Chen Linlin. Most people would choose to hide their lovers far away, fearing discovery by their spouse, but Chen Linlin did the opposite, actually intending to keep her right under his nose. This bold behavior made Wang Hu exclaim, "This woman is truly extraordinary!"

Wang Hu was strolling around when he suddenly spotted a lottery shop. He doesn't know what he was thinking, but his feet seemed to move on their own and he stepped inside.

This lottery shop is small, only about ten square meters. A tall table is placed against the wall, with a lottery printer on it.

Next to the table were two glass counters, one horizontal and one vertical, which perfectly surrounded the proprietress, leaving just enough space for one person to pass through. The counters were neatly filled with scratch-off lottery tickets.

Several large screens hung on the wall, displaying lottery winning information.

The shop was quite crowded, and everyone was holding a "Quick Three" lottery ticket. This was a lottery where the draw took place every ten minutes. Wang Hu looked at these people and thought to himself: "Aren't they all gamblers? With draws every ten minutes, some people bet dozens or even hundreds of times the amount. If they didn't win the last round, they double their bet the next. Many people have gone bankrupt because of this." Fortunately, this type of lottery was banned in 2019.

When the proprietress saw Wang Hu walk in, she asked, "Handsome, what would you like to buy?"

"Let's go with scratch cards." Wang Hu didn't really have any ideas; he just looked at the scratch cards in the counter and wanted to try his luck.

"Handsome, which one do you want?" The proprietress stood up and opened the counter.

Wang Hu's eyes lit up when he saw the proprietress stand up. She was less than 1.6 meters tall, wearing a fur-lined coat, a short skirt, and black stockings. Her round face was like an apple, with bright red lipstick, and she wore a knitted hat.

This outfit is both youthful and mature, possessing a unique beauty that is truly eye-catching.

The proprietress felt embarrassed by his stare and her face flushed red. She asked Wang Hu again, "Handsome, what do you want?"

Wang Hu then came to his senses and said somewhat embarrassedly to the proprietress, "Give me ten of these two-yuan ones."

Wang Hu took out 20 yuan and handed it to the shopkeeper, then took the lottery ticket from her. In that instant of exchange, his hand accidentally touched hers, and he jerked away as if he'd been electrocuted.

Wang Hu picked up a small scratcher from the table and started scratching the lottery tickets in his hand. He didn't win on the first few tickets, but he didn't care. When he scratched the eighth ticket, he found that he had won twenty yuan and thought to himself, "Not bad, I've already broken even."

He kept scratching until the tenth ticket. Wang Hu looked closely and his eyes widened in disbelief—he had won the grand prize! And the prize money was a whopping five thousand yuan! He was so excited he almost jumped for joy. This was the first time in his life he had won such a big prize; he was incredibly lucky!

He clutched the lottery ticket tightly, his hand trembling slightly, as if afraid it would fly away. After a long while, he slowly calmed down and handed the ticket to the shopkeeper.

The proprietress took the lottery ticket, examined it carefully, and exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, you actually won five thousand yuan! Your luck is incredible!"

Hearing this, the people buying lottery tickets nearby gathered around, curiously looking at the ticket in Wang Hu's hand. One of the more experienced lottery players asked, "Ma'am, what kind of lottery ticket is he buying? I want to buy one and try it out."

The proprietress pointed to the remaining lottery tickets of the same type on the table and said, "These are the ones, but there aren't many left." Without hesitation, the lottery player bought all the remaining tickets, hoping that he could be as lucky as Wang Hu.

The proprietress took 5,000 yuan from the counter and gave it to Wang Hu, her eyes filled with curiosity. Wang Hu took the money, secretly delighted; this unexpected windfall excited him.

Then she asked him, "Handsome, you're so lucky, aren't you going to buy something else?" Wang Hu thought to himself, since the money was free anyway, he might as well try his luck again. He glanced at the proprietress; she seemed to have a hint of expectation on her face.

He felt as if the proprietress's words possessed a magical power, compelling him to obey. This feeling was like a sudden inspiration, irresistible to him. So, without hesitation, he spent 2000 yuan to bet on a 1000x multiplier for the "Three Fives" lottery.

He found a stool and sat down, watching the proprietress's face as he waited. The proprietress felt a little embarrassed by his gaze, but secretly pleased. She thought to herself, "This young man is quite interesting."

Seeing the proprietress's reaction, Wang Hu became even more interested. He made a face at her, trying to cheer her up. Seeing Wang Hu's face, the proprietress couldn't help but stick her tongue out at him. She thought the young man was quite cute and wasn't so annoying anymore.

During this brief interaction, subtle changes occurred in both of their feelings. Wang Hu hoped to win the lottery, while the proprietress developed a slight liking for him. Their eyes met, as if there was an unspoken understanding between them.

While waiting, Wang Hu's heart was not actually fluctuating, but when the countdown to the lottery draw began, his heart was tugged tightly.

The moment the lottery results were announced, Wang Hu was overwhelmed with immense joy. He could hardly believe his eyes—he had really won! And it was a triple jackpot! One winning ticket was worth 1040, and 1000 winning tickets would be over a million!

The proprietress looked at Wang Hu with immense joy, secretly marveling at his incredible luck. After winning 5,000 yuan, he'd now won a million!
