Chapter 406 Airport Project: Customs Clearance in Beijing, Local Areas Await a Breakthrough

The next morning, before the sun had fully risen, the first rays of dawn shone into the room through the gaps in the curtains.

Wang Hu was immersed in a sweet dream when suddenly, he felt a sharp slap on his buttocks, as if something had hit him hard.

"Ouch!" Wang Hu was startled awake by the sudden pain. He rubbed his bottom and muttered reluctantly, "Dad! What's wrong?"

Last night, after Wang Hu took Shi Yanling home, it was already two or three in the morning when he got home.

He had assumed he could, as usual, gently push open the door and tiptoe back to his room.

However, when he got to the door, he found it was locked!

Wang Hu inwardly groaned, knowing this must be his mother Feng Fenfen's doing.

Before leaving last night, Feng Fenfen warned him. Wang Hu sighed helplessly. He dared not knock on the door, otherwise he would be in for a beating.

After some thought, Wang Hu decided to take a risky step—jumping through the window.

Although it sounds absurd, it seems that Wang Hu had no better options.

So he carefully climbed onto the window, then jumped in and successfully entered his room.

Wang Jianguo got up early to open the windows of the new house for ventilation, otherwise it would be full of formaldehyde.

Unexpectedly, when I pushed open the bedroom door, I saw my son lying inside.

"How did you get into the house last night?" Wang Jianguo asked with a suspicious look.

Wang Hu, with his eyes tightly closed, mumbled, "I climbed over the wall to get in!"

"Hey, you're really something!" Wang Jianguo was quite surprised by his son's answer.

After speaking, Wang Jianguo walked to the window and opened it. Instantly, a cool breeze blew in through the window, carrying the unique chill of autumn.

That's how autumn is in the north. It's still a bit hot at midday, but the temperature drops sharply at night, becoming unusually cool.

The cool breeze made the curtains rustle loudly, and Wang Hu was jolted awake by the gust, completely sobering him up.

Unable to fall asleep any longer, he reluctantly got out of bed, washed up, and went downstairs.

Feng Fenfen was standing in the living room when she suddenly heard a slight noise. She looked up and was surprised to see her son coming downstairs, a look of confusion on her face.

Feng Fenfen's gaze then shifted to Wang Jianguo, who was sitting on the sofa, as if asking what had happened. Wang Jianguo's lips curled into a slight smile, and he gave a thumbs-up, saying, "Your son is quite the expert; he climbed in through the window!"

Upon hearing this, Feng Fenfen was immediately anxious. She quickly walked to her son, gripping a feather duster tightly in her hand, and scolded him angrily, "You brat, are you out of your mind? That wall is so high, what if you fall down?" As she spoke, she raised the feather duster, as if to hit Wang Hu.

Seeing this, Wang Hu was so frightened that he quickly begged for mercy: "Mom, I was wrong! I will never dare to do it again!" He knew in his heart that although the feather duster would not hurt much, he did not want to upset his mother.

Seeing that her son was remorseful, Feng Fenfen put down the feather duster, then glared at Wang Jianguo and said, "Isn't my son your son?"

Wang Jianguo wisely kept his mouth shut and didn't say anything.

After breakfast, Wang Hu was sent by Wang Jianguo to go grocery shopping with Zhang Qing.

Because it is Wang Hu's third uncle's wedding, many guests are expected to come, so a large amount of food needs to be prepared.

They drove a green pickup truck to the market so they could buy enough groceries in one trip.

By the time they finished grocery shopping and returned home, it was already noon.

Then he drove hurriedly to his third uncle's house, which was Wang Hu's original home!

Just as Wang Hu finished unloading the vegetables and was about to enjoy the sumptuous meal, his gaze was suddenly drawn to a figure in the distance—Shi Yanling was slowly walking towards him!

Shi Yanling's long hair cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall, swaying gently in the wind. Her attire was very conservative: a white, long-sleeved blouse with lace trim that completely covered her body, the neckline buttoned up tightly, revealing not a sliver of skin. She wore jeans and sneakers.

Wang Hu's aunt happened to be standing at the door and spotted Shi Yanling immediately. She greeted her warmly, "Lingling, have you eaten yet? Come in and have a bowl with us!"

Then, the aunt pointed at Wang Hu and urged, "Go and get Lingling a bowl of food. What are you standing there for?"

Wang Hu seemed to wake from a dream, and quickly responded with "Oh!" Then he turned around and hurriedly ran into the kitchen to serve Shi Yanling a full bowl of food.

Shi Yanling originally wanted to politely decline her aunt's offer, but when she saw Wang Hu already running to serve the dishes, she involuntarily swallowed back the words that were on the tip of her tongue.

A moment later, Wang Hu came out carrying two bowls and four large steamed buns. He found a shady rock by the door and gestured for Shi Yanling to sit down with him.

Today, Wang Hu's third uncle's house was unusually lively, with the house packed with guests, and there was hardly any room to stand.

After finally finding an empty seat, Wang Hu couldn't wait to wink at Shi Yanling, who was sitting not far away, and whispered, "Why are you dressed so warmly today? Isn't it hot in this bright sun?"

Upon hearing this, Shi Yanling's face immediately filled with anger, and she glared fiercely at Wang Hu. There was a reason for her reaction.

When she got up in the morning and went to wash up, she suddenly found that her body was covered with red marks, especially her neck and shoulders, which were covered with a dense array of hickeys.

However, in Wang Hu's eyes, Shi Yanling's glare was not only harmless but also incredibly alluring. So, he continued lecherously, "How about we go again tonight?"

Upon hearing this, Shi Yanling rolled her eyes in anger, muttered "beast" under her breath, and then ignored Wang Hu, continuing to eat the food in her bowl.

Throughout the meal, Shi Yanling didn't respond to Wang Hu at all, which left Wang Hu feeling uneasy. He muttered to himself, "Should I go or not? At least give me a straight answer!"

Just as Wang Hu was wondering whether he should try again, the phone suddenly rang. He took out his phone and saw that it was Zhao Lin!

Upon receiving the notification, Wang Hu immediately asked, "How is it going? Is this easy to handle?"

Zhao Lin's tone on the other end of the phone carried a hint of smugness: "We've got all the connections in Beijing sorted out, and the aviation approval documents and related procedures are all done. However, the local government hasn't finished the process yet. The approvals for the construction land planning and environmental assessment need to be expedited, otherwise the progress will be stalled."
