"Sir, your teacher has quite the influence. May I ask what your purpose is in bringing me here?" Zhao Shu found a chair, sat down, and calmly asked Huo Baichuan.
Huo Baichuan pushed the teacup in front of Zhao Shu, took a sip himself, and said, "Ninth Sister's craftsmanship is unparalleled in the world." He changed the subject.
"Sir, are you really going to sell me off?" Xiao Guozi and Han Ying haven't caught up yet after so long, they probably can't find this place. Even if they do, they'll be stopped by Huo Baichuan's men.
She wasn't afraid that Huo Baichuan would sell her out, but she was worried about being tricked by him. She absolutely did not believe that Huo Baichuan was a kind man.
"Heh." Huo Baichuan chuckled, his smile a little mischievous yet incredibly bright, as if he was trying to hold it in but couldn't quite manage it. "You're so skinny, a pig is worth more than you. Besides, what's wrong with selling you? Don't you know how much silver you've taken from Little Fatty? Want me to show you the ledger?"
When the topic of asking the Huo family for money came up, Zhao Shu's expression of disgust became even more obvious. "This princess is not worth as much as a pig, so what about you, sir? Are you more valuable than a pig?"
"Oh dear, you two are actually competing with pigs for their food. That's not good, that's too cruel to pigs." Jiu Niang entered, followed by two girls who looked to be about fifteen or sixteen years old. The girls seemed to have an eye ailment, their eyes were lifeless, and they followed behind Jiu Niang, staring straight ahead.
Seeing that he only brought two people, Huo Baichuan was furious. "Ninth Sister, you are so heartless. I just didn't call you Master's Wife, is it necessary to be so harsh? You hurt my kind and beautiful heart."
Jiu Niang ignored him, turned around and took the girl's hand, making a few strokes on it. The two girls turned around and came to Zhao Shu. If their movements hadn't been a little stiff, she wouldn't have been able to tell that something was wrong with them.
She has a beautiful and sweet face, but she was born with a disability and seems to be deaf, mute and blind. God is truly blind.
The girl came up to Zhao Shu, and just as she was feeling confused, she suddenly felt herself losing her balance and about to fall. But screaming in fright was not her usual style. However, the next moment she felt something pushing against her.
When her center of gravity stabilized, the chair she had just been sitting on actually fell apart and reassembled into a chaise lounge with thick cushions.
"Look at you, so easily frightened by mechanical arts." Huo Baichuan said coolly, venting his dissatisfaction with Jiu Niang on Zhao Shu in a sarcastic tone.
Zhao Shu wouldn't let him have his way. She stood up, walked up to him, and said, "Mr. Huo, you reap what you sow. One day, when you're scared, please don't thank me."
"Little girl, lie down quickly and don't pay attention to certain people. They are not respectable and don't let them lead you astray."
Zhao Shu looked at Jiu Niang and the two girls suspiciously, then asked Huo Baichuan, "Didn't Uncle take me to vent my anger? You promised to stand up for me, so why did you bring me here?"
"You're so suspicious. You look exhausted, so I brought you here to relax. To take the lead? Take the lead in what way? Can't the Crown Prince handle his own affairs? How old are you? How old is the Crown Prince? Why are you helping him like this? Are you his mother? If you can't even handle your own affairs, how will you support the Great Yong Empire in the future? The royal family members here." He pointed to his head and said disdainfully, "They all have problems."
Zhao Shu lowered her head, because if she didn't, she would be unable to resist going up to fight Huo Baichuan. Although it would be rude and ungentlemanly, only simple and brutal methods could vent her anger.
Letting out a sigh of relief, suppressing his displeasure, or rather, his anger and embarrassment, Huo Baichuan continued to nag, "At such a young age, you're not learning good things, instead resorting to scheming and trickery. Don't you know that one scheme requires a hundred more to cover it up? When will this ever end? Wouldn't it be better to stay home and do your embroidery?"
"Mr. Huo, aren't you being a bit too nosy?" Zhao Shu couldn't take it anymore. She was already annoyed, and now he was nagging in her ear. She really wanted to ask, "Are you my mother?"
Huo Baichuan stopped talking when she suddenly yelled at him. Realizing he had said too much again, he turned his head away awkwardly. "Fine, you're not surnamed Huo either. I don't need to care about you. I'll leave, okay?"
After saying that, he actually walked out. Watching him walk so fast, it gave the impression that he was acting out of spite.
Jiu Niang coughed lightly, "Princess, Bai Chuan isn't one to talk to just anyone, and what he said makes sense. For a woman, the most important thing is a happy and fulfilling life." Jiu Niang was only twenty-five or twenty-six years old, yet she spoke of Bai Chuan so intimately, which suggests that they were very close.
After saying that, she gave a self-deprecating laugh, and without pointing at Zhao Shu to reply, she changed the subject, "Princess, lie down quickly and let them serve you."
Zhao Shu glanced around, wondering how likely she was to escape, but she despairingly discovered that her hope was zero.
Jiu Niang chuckled, "Princess, don't worry, I won't really sell you."
Since things had come to this point, Zhao Shu simply lay down on the chaise lounge, but in her heart she was already planning that when she got back, she would definitely have Xiao Zhu ask Xiao Pang for more money.
Two girls squatted down on either side of her and began to massage her.
It turned out to be a massage, and they even said it was incredibly pleasurable...
The girl was very skilled, and she soon fell asleep comfortably. She had been so tired these past few days, both physically and mentally. If this continued for another half month, she was afraid she would break down.
Outside the window, Huo Baichuan and Xiao Xingyuan stood under a patch of red plum blossoms. Through the half-open window, they saw Zhao Shu sleeping soundly inside the room. At this moment, Jiu Niang walked to the window and closed it completely.
"Are you really planning to get involved in the Zhao family's affairs?" Xiao Xingyuan asked.
Huo Baichuan looked up at the gray sky. Winter days are short and nights are long, and night would soon fall. "My elder sister's illness is getting better. Shouldn't you go see her, teacher?"
"You know, your elder sister doesn't like me visiting her. Since she doesn't like it, why should I bother her?" Snowflakes began to fall again. His gaze pierced through the falling snowflakes, and he felt somewhat dazed, as if he could see a woman with eyes as bright as the stars and the sea standing there, but those eyes had never smiled at him.
