When Zhao Shu and the other two arrived at the courtyard mentioned by Sun Yun, they only saw Yang Shixuan walking out of the courtyard with a dejected look on his face. When he saw Sun Yun, his face immediately turned red, his eyes darted away, he bowed from a distance, and then left as if fleeing.
"What is he doing here?" Zhao Shu asked, her furtive manner truly displeasing.
Sun Yun blew on his grandmother's aching fingernail and said nonchalantly, "It was just a fly. It was blocking my way, so I just threw it away in a random yard."
Zhao Shu: ...
Putting that question aside, Zhao Shu searched around but couldn't find Lin Xiuxue. "Go ask her," she said to Xiao Zhuzi.
Xiao Zhu hurriedly went to ask the cleaning maid, but the maid knew nothing about it, obviously she had been replaced, or she had been paid hush money.
After asking several people, they still couldn't get any information. Xiao Zhuzi came back with his whisk and said, "Princess, they all say they don't know. They say Miss Lin left a long time ago."
"Never mind, judging from Yang Shixuan's expression, it doesn't seem like nothing happened." These two were husband and wife in their past life, and after going through such a long and winding road, they are still husband and wife, so it doesn't matter.
Zhao Shu was about to express her gratitude when Wei Tingsi said, "Does the princess have anything else to say? I heard that the tenth prince was bitten by a snake, and I happened to have captured a snake catcher."
"Is this true?" Zhao Shuxin's heart skipped a beat, and she grabbed Wei Tingsi's arm to ask, "If they really catch him, things will be much easier."
"Where is that person?" Zhao Shu was eager to see the person who released the snake.
"Princess, please come with me." When Wei Tingsi saw Zhao Shuben's gloomy face brighten up like a firework, he felt much more relaxed, and the inexplicable anger in his heart dissipated.
At this moment, a maid from the Sun family came over to invite Sun Yun, "Sixth Miss, the Old Madam requests your presence."
Sun Yun's eyes flickered, and he looked up with a smile. Some things were finally coming to an end. He patted Zhao Shu's shoulder and said with the boldness of a man, "Go back to the manor and remember to wait for me. I'll probably have to stay at your place tonight."
"Okay." Zhao Shu nodded and watched her leave.
"Princess, this person is no ordinary person. If there are too many people, we might be discovered. Does the princess still wish to go see him?" He meant that he would only take her with him, and Xiao Guozi and the others could not go with him.
"General, can't you tell me who this person is?" Zhao Shu glanced at Xiao Guozi and the others, whose faces were full of worry, and asked tentatively.
Wei Tingsi shook his head. It wasn't that he couldn't tell Zhao Shu the person's name directly, but rather that he wanted to take her to see it for herself and ask her why she had come specifically to stop Lin Xiuxue.
"You all go back first, I'll be there in a bit. Remember to protect Father." Zhao Shu finally gave in. Actually, this person wasn't that important. She never needed evidence to do things, but this time she really wanted to see how this person had brought a cobra to the winding stream.
Xiao Guozi and the others naturally trusted Zhao Shu and believed that Wei Tingsi could protect her. They did not clamor to go with her, but instead said in unison, "Yes."
As before, Wei Tingsi took Zhao Shu off the ground from the first floor. However, Zhao Shu had grown up and was now graceful and elegant. He wanted to make a move several times but didn't. His gaze fell on Zhao Shu's slender waist, and his face immediately turned red.
Xiao Guozi and the others lowered their heads, not daring to look. Zhao Shu happened to see him blush, and she also felt her face burning a little, but she quickly recovered.
"Princess, please follow me." In the end, he decided to take Zhao Shu with him. After passing several artificial hills, Zhao Shu followed at a distance, neither of them speaking, remaining silent.
After a long while, Wei Tingsi suddenly stopped. Zhao Shu almost bumped into his back. She tried to peek out to see what was in front of her, but saw Sun Yun and several members of the Sun family heading towards the bamboo house.
It turns out that after going around in circles, we ended up in the bamboo house again.
Before long, everyone had entered the bamboo house. Many members of the Sun family were hiding in both the open and the shadowy. To avoid stepping on Zhao Shu, Wei Tingsi carefully helped her take two steps back. "Princess, please forgive me."
He spoke quickly, as if extremely shy.
Before Zhao Shu could even nod, he led her past the green bamboo in front of her. He was so fast that Zhao Shu only felt a flash before her eyes and she was in another place.
After moving quickly in two directions, Zhao Shu was put down and found herself in a dead corner at the bottom of the bamboo building's stairs. Not far away was the canna lily. The old woman had just died here, so her body must have been disposed of.
Argumentation could be heard inside the bamboo house. "How dare you!" came the aged voice, belonging to Old Madam Sun.
"Outrageous? You've bullied my mother for over a decade because she had no brothers to help her. Today, I'm here to be outrageous. My mother has never been negligent or unfaithful in serving you. And what about you? How have you treated her? Have you ever treated her like a daughter-in-law? I've never understood what benefits my second uncle gave you that made you treat my mother so harshly. Now I understand. Your heart is made of iron. No matter how hard I try to warm my mother, I can't!"
This was Sun Yun's voice. She never talked about her family, only occasionally mentioning it briefly, but never going into detail.
It turns out that in the society of Dayong, without brothers to support her family, she would be bullied like this. Zhao Shu remained silent for a long time.
Wei Tingsi looked down and saw that her expression had changed again. He wanted to say something to comfort her, but he didn't know what to say. Like Zhao Shu, he was not good with words, especially when it came to comforting people.
However, he finally mustered the courage to say, "Shushu."
"Mmm," Zhao Shu replied softly. Both of their voices were low, and the summer breeze outside and the rustling of the bamboo forest quickly drowned out the sound of the bamboo leaves.
“My master said that you can ask him any questions you have about Empress Yide.”
Upon hearing this, Zhao Shu's gloomy expression vanished, and she grinned, nodding emphatically, "Okay."
