Zhao Shu's "Good!" struck Wei Tingsi's heart. He remembered how that woman, upon hearing that the Zhong family wanted to arrange a marriage for him with someone he didn't like, immediately went to the palace to beg Qin Ji.
Qin Ji is now over sixty years old and doesn't always stay by Emperor Mingde's side. Except for important occasions, he lives a pastoral life in the palace. When he found Qin Ji, Qin Ji was planting vegetables.
Qin Ji, with his muscular physique and menacing appearance, was actually growing vegetables. However, after seeing this kind of life so many times, he had gotten used to it.
"What brings you to the palace?" Qin Ji asked listlessly, throwing a green caterpillar into the ground.
"Master, I have a request to make of you."
Qin Ji put down the small hoe in his hand and stood up. "You have never asked me for anything before. Do you still remember the rules for asking me for something?"
"I remember, I'll be carrying manure for you for six months."
I shook my head, trying to ignore the fact that I hadn't even finished the six-month selection process yet. It seems I'll have to wait another six months.
If Zhao Shu knew about Qin Ji's quirk, she would definitely be overjoyed. Coincidentally, she also likes to punish people by making them plant vegetables...
After Sun Yun finished speaking, Old Madam Sun stomped her dragon-headed cane on the floor with a loud "thump, thump," and cried out, "You wretched girl, you wretched girl, tell me, where did you hide your mother?"
“Yun’er, quickly tell your grandmother not to make her angry. How could you be so unfilial? Who taught you to do that? I always said I shouldn’t have sent you to Guanzhou. After going to Guanzhou, you picked up some vulgar habits and became so unfilial.”
“Father, you agreed to let us go to Guanzhou! You call others vulgar, but I think you are the vulgarest and dirtiest!” Sun Yun’s heartbroken voice came, trembling slightly. “You want to find Mother, is it because you can’t bear to part with her, or do you want her dead? She just miscarried, Father, don’t think I don’t know anything. You just don’t want Mother to give birth to the child in her womb. That’s your own flesh and blood, how can you bear it!”
She became more and more agitated as she spoke, and eventually burst into tears. The most heartbreaking thing was that her parents did not love each other. Both of them were her flesh and blood, and she did not want to give up either of them.
Sun Binhuai slapped Sun Yun across the face. She didn't dodge, and with a loud slap, five fingers were instantly imprinted on her pale face. The force was so great that she fell to the ground.
He slowly got up and chuckled softly, "Go ahead and kill me, I'll give you back my life!"
"You unfilial daughter!" Sun Binhuai's hands were trembling. He didn't dare to look at the handprint on Sun Yun's face. He turned to Old Madam Sun and said, "Mother, she wants a divorce certificate. Just give it to her. Why make a fuss?"
"What do you know? Madam Ma is Ma Caishi's precious daughter. She has what our beloved son wants. It was all because of this wretched girl who secretly let Madam Ma go. If she doesn't tell us where Madam Ma is today, I'll beat her to death!" Old Madam Sun didn't treat Sun Yun as her granddaughter at all. She didn't even flinch when she uttered the words "beat her to death."
Sun Binhuai knelt down with a thud. "Mother, no matter what, Yun'er is still your granddaughter. How can you say such a thing?"
"I don't have such a treacherous granddaughter. She's not my granddaughter, just a bastard. Men, beat her!" Old Madam Sun didn't even respect her son anymore. Her eyes were full of hostility as she ordered her burly old women to beat Sun Yun.
Sun Yun stood up, wiping the blood from the corner of her mouth. The old women surrounded her, trying to pin her down. "Let's see who dares!" she shouted fiercely, glaring at the old women like a demon. "Anyone who dares to touch me, I'll make sure they taste a hundred ways to die!"
Her eyes were terrifying, and the old women hesitated to strike. Madam Sun pounded the ground with her dragon-headed cane, yelling, "Hurry up and hit her!"
"Who dares!" Sun Yun laughed as she walked towards Old Madam Sun. "If you dare to hit me, I will ruin your reputation and let my grandfather and the whole world see just how many people Old Madam Sun has killed in her life, all of them her own illegitimate sons and daughters, and how many of my grandfather's concubines she has killed! You can try if you don't believe me. As long as I leave here injured today, tomorrow, the streets and alleys will be filled with talk of how vicious and ruthless you are! You say I'm not your granddaughter? Well, I don't want a grandmother as stupid and dull as you. It would be a disgrace if word got out!"
"You dare threaten me!" Madam Sun was furious. She raised her cane to hit Sun Yun, but Sun Yun dodged with a mocking smile.
At this moment, a palace maid walked in, glanced at Sun Yun, and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that she was alright. She then curtsied from a distance and said, "Madam, the Fourth Prince's Consort said that she would like to invite the Sixth Miss to come over. She also said that you should not make things difficult for the Sixth Miss, as it was not her fault."
Hearing the palace maid's words, Sun Yun became even more sarcastic, glancing triumphantly at Old Madam Sun, "The divorce papers, please write them within three days."
After saying that, he strode out of the bamboo building. Zhao Shu sensed that Sun Yun's steps were unsteady, but she pretended to be calm and composed.
The sound of footsteps echoed down the stairs. Soon, through the crack, one could see her being escorted by Banshu and Ma'an, following behind a palace maid, as she left the bamboo grove.
Zhao Shu chose to continue listening, only to hear Old Madam Sun say, "What's wrong with Jiao'er? Could it be that this brat is threatening Jiao'er?"
“Grandmother, I don’t think Sun Yun is capable of threatening Fourth Sister,” Sun Ying said.
"The most important thing now is to find Ma," said the other members of the Sun family.
“Madam Ma has long since lost all support in Taizhou. She can’t possibly go back to Taizhou. If she does, Ma Zhonghe won’t tolerate her.” Old Madam Sun began to reason.
"Could it be at Prince Yong's residence?" Suddenly, someone suggested a bold idea.
Immediately, everyone fell silent. Clearly, they all felt that Madam Ma was very likely hiding in Prince Yong's residence.
"Where is the Fourth Prince?" Old Madam Sun suddenly asked.
"The Fourth Prince is guarding Fourth Sister in the back room," Sun Ying replied again.
"Go see Fourth Sister." When Madam Sun mentioned Sun Jiao, she was filled with heartache, but she spoke sternly to Sun Yun alone, never showing any kindness.
