Chapter 10 Her Man is Ruthless

Bai Jiaojiao, being far away, felt much better watching Yu Wenli's trembling back in anger.

Bai Jiaojiao carried her basket and walked briskly home.

Yu Wenli and Liu Ying, those two scumbags, have already found good partners, so she needs to hurry up and get on with her own things.

Bai Jiaojiao remembers it clearly: just a few days after her wedding, the brigade received a notice that the wheat harvesting time would be halved in order to avoid the heavy rain.

This was an impossible task. That year, one-third of the wheat in Shili Village sprouted in the fields. Although there was nothing that could be done, it was a major accident and someone had to be held responsible.

She, who was spoiled by Shen Heng and didn't go to work, is the one who took the blame.

She was criticized as a parasite of the commune and forced to be paraded through the streets and carry manure; Shen Heng suffered all these hardships on her behalf.

Bai Jiaojiao will not allow this to happen again.

Bai Jiaojiao took out stationery from the small box containing her dowry and started drawing on the table.

In her past life, she was admitted to an agricultural university and majored in agricultural mechanization.

Later, she was prevented from enrolling in school that year because of the interference of Ding Shifang, the biological daughter of her adoptive parents. It was only later that Shen Heng helped her reinstate her student status.

What she learned before is now proving very helpful.

It's obviously unrealistic to expect Bai Jiaojiao to produce a wheat harvester right now, but she's quite confident that she won't be labeled a parasite of the commune for the rest of her life.

Bai Jiaojiao drew the blueprints, tucked them into her bosom, tidied herself up a bit, and then rode her bicycle towards town, heading straight for the place where her third brother was an apprentice.

The blacksmith's shop was filled with the clanging and banging of metal, and the muscular men inside were quite a sight to behold. A little girl peeking out from the doorway inevitably attracted attention.

"Who are you looking for? Don't block the way if you have nothing to do."

There was someone at the door, probably out for some fresh air, who saw that Bai Jiaojiao was pretty and struck up a conversation.

Skilled workers are in high demand these days, and people in blacksmith shops inevitably speak with a touch of arrogance.

"Hello, I'm looking for Bai Shibao. I'm his sister. Could you please call him for me?"

Bai Jiaojiao ignored the blacksmith's tone and instead made a polite request.

The blacksmith at the door glanced at her, and her attitude made it hard to refuse: "Wait here." Then he went inside to find someone.

A short while later, a tall, lean man came out.

Having spent years by the stove, Bai Shibao's skin was tanned dark. As he wiped his sweat, he recognized the person who had come as Bai Jiaojiao.

Slightly surprised: "What's wrong? Did something happen at home?"

He worked as an apprentice in town and rarely went home; he didn't even go back when Bai Jiaojiao got married.

He was really not familiar with Bai Jiaojiao. Since Bai Jiaojiao came here the year before last, he hadn't exchanged more than ten sentences with her.

Bai Jiaojiao came from the city and looked down on the Bai family, so he couldn't be bothered to try and win her over.

So when Bai Jiaojiao came to find him, he was completely confused.

"Everything's fine at home. Third Brother, I've come to ask you for a favor."

Bai Jiaojiao took out her drawings, and Bai Shibao took them in a daze.

Third brother?

My God.

Bai Shibao's gaze towards Bai Jiaojiao was as if he wanted to bore a hole through her.

Did Bai Jiaojiao go crazy after marrying Shen Heng?

In Bai Shibao's memory, Bai Jiaojiao used to call them by their full names, with a tone of disdain.

"Third Brother," Bai Jiaojiao called out again, bringing Bai Shibao back to his senses, "Could you make two of these for me?"

One of these tools is for Shen Heng, and the other is for his elder brother, Bai Shihai.

In her past life, Bai's older siblings said they didn't care about her, but when Ding Shifang in the city made her life unbearable, she had nowhere else to turn but to her older siblings for help. While they scolded her, they gritted their teeth and sent her money.

Without them, Bai Jiaojiao would never have survived until Shen Heng came to help her. It's just that Bai Jiaojiao didn't have a chance to repay them.

Therefore, Bai Jiaojiao plans to repay them properly, including from her previous life.

Bai Shibao unfolded the blueprints and frowned: "What is this? A sickle blade? Isn't this size too big? You must have made a mistake. Who gave you these blueprints?"

Bai Shibao is almost a master craftsman; once he sees the blueprints, the finished product is already in his mind.

"No mistake, can you do it, Third Brother? Sharpen it for me, I'll pay you."

Iron isn't cheap these days. The farm tools and hoes in the village are worn down to a round shape, but they're reluctant to replace them. The raw materials for these two large sickle blades alone cost several yuan.

“You don’t need to pay me,” Bai Shibao said, his brow furrowed as he looked at the blueprints. “When do you need them?”

"The sooner the better!" Bai Jiaojiao took out five yuan from her pocket and stuffed it into Bai Shibao's hand. "Third Brother, the materials belong to the government, I can't let you pay for them."

Bai Shibao is now an apprentice, and five yuan is equivalent to his monthly salary.

"How about the next day? I'll go back to the village and bring it back to you."

Although Bai Shibao's attitude towards Bai Jiaojiao wasn't particularly good, he was still quite accommodating to her every request.

"Thank you, Third Brother!"

Bai Jiaojiao smiled sweetly, while Bai Shibao cursed inwardly.

This rich girl from the city, will she ever thank him?

Everyone says that girls become sensible after they get married, but Bai Jiaojiao has changed too much!

Because Bai Jiaojiao's features resembled his own, Bai Shibao couldn't bring himself to dislike her.

"You'd better go home quickly, don't wander around the streets in broad daylight," Bai Shibao said.

Those loitering on the streets these days are all hooligans; every decent person works.

"Okay, Third Brother, I won't bother you anymore. Goodbye, Third Brother!"

Bai Jiaojiao waved to Bai Shibao, got on her bicycle, and rode away.
