Chapter 220 Notification

“Hazelnut mushrooms,” Bai Jiaojiao said.

"We don't have any there."

After finishing his meal, Bai Shibao regained his strength, though his complexion was a little pale, but he stubbornly continued to jump around.

"Go back and ask your sister-in-law to stew chicken for the New Year."

When the topic of the Chinese New Year came up, Bai Shihai finally smiled with relief: "If Dad knew you could come home for the New Year this year, he would be overjoyed."

"Don't get too excited."

As soon as Bai Shibao finished speaking, Bai Shihai glanced at him again.

Bai Jiaojiao wanted to sleep a long time ago. Her bunk was in another place, and she left with Shen Heng after only hearing a few words from Bai Shibao.

They bought a lower bunk and an upper bunk. Shen Heng helped Bai Jiaojiao to the upper bunk: "You go to sleep, I'll watch over you from downstairs."

That way, if Bai Jiaojiao needs anything and calls him, he can help her in time.

Bai Jiaojiao fell asleep immediately after lying down. The temperature in the cabin was also comfortable. Shen Heng pulled the blanket up for Bai Jiaojiao and sat back down on the lower bunk.

There was an older man next to him who saw that Shen Heng had some free time, so he wanted to strike up a conversation with him. He was sitting on the boat alone and was incredibly bored.

"Hey, young man, you really dote on your wife."

He had barely finished speaking when Shen Heng shot him a glare: "Stop gossiping and disturb her."

There was not a trace of the patience and gentleness he had shown just moments before in his eyes.

The older brother immediately shut up.

Seeing how well Shen Heng treated his wife, he still thought she was an easy target.

Shen Heng saw that this person didn't seem to have anything else going on. When you're out and about, don't talk to people unless you have something to say, or you might get sold out without even knowing it.

Shen Heng leaned against the lower bunk with his arms crossed, resting with his eyes closed but not daring to fall into a deep sleep.

The boat was traveling in the opposite direction, and it was all night. The boat docked at dawn.

Bai Shihai and Shen Heng found the place where they had mailed their bicycles and rode home.

"Big brother, Heng and I are going to the supply and marketing cooperative to see if there's anything good. Third brother is back, so I'll ask my sister-in-law to cook us a nice meal tonight."

Bai Jiaojiao told Bai Shihai to go back first, and she took the opportunity of coming to the county to buy things that the brigade's supply and marketing cooperative did not have.

"Okay, you two don't buy too much, and come back early. I think it's going to snow heavily again."

Bai Shihai gave a few instructions and then quickly took Bai Shibo home.

Bai Jiaojiao and Shen Heng went to the supply and marketing cooperative and bought a lot of new cloth, intending to make a new cotton-padded jacket.

When Shen Heng saw this, he thought to himself that this standard of living was truly the highest; who else would make a cotton-padded coat only once a year?

"We're going to study in a big city soon, so we need to get ready properly."

With the current economic development not being good, most people in big cities and small towns, apart from whether their clothes are new or old, don't actually have many styles. If someone wears brightly colored clothes, they will be labeled as a capitalist roader.

Only those with exceptionally wealthy families could afford to buy those imported ready-made clothes, but Bai Jiaojiao didn't intend to be so ostentatious; she just wanted to finish her studies peacefully with Shen Heng.

Shen Heng didn't say anything, but just worked as a porter carrying the goods.

If it weren't for the fear that the bicycle couldn't carry the load, Bai Jiaojiao would have wanted to empty the entire supply and marketing cooperative.

Bai Jiaojiao brought the pig's head meat, pig's trotters and garlic sprouts she bought to the Bai family, saying she would come back for dinner that night. She then went home with Shen Heng and let him take a nap.

The Bai family is in an uproar right now. When Bai Zhiman saw Bai Shibao, he almost fainted from joy.

The old man's mood was like a rollercoaster, going up and down, still circling in the air: "You're such a capable kid, you even know to come home."

"Dad, the main problem is that our commander insisted on giving me leave; otherwise, would I have been able to come back?"

Bai Shibao clearly didn't mean that, but he couldn't express it, which almost made Bai Zhiman furious.

"Alright, alright, it's good that Bozi is back. You should go and rest now."

Deng Min was also happy. Her efforts to contact her aunt had paid off; she would definitely find Bai Shibao a wife this year!

Bai Shibao returned to his room, looking at his familiar home, feeling relaxed and at ease.

He stretched and saw Bai Shihai come in, looking serious and hesitant.

"Big brother, what's wrong?"

Bai Shibao looked at Bai Shihai, puzzled.

"that......"

Bai Shihai didn't know how to bring himself to say those words.

"Just tell me what's wrong, brother. What's the difference between us brothers?"

Bai Shihai rubbed his thigh: "Jiaojiao was with me at the hospital, so I was too embarrassed to ask. We didn't get checked either. Is your thing still working? Is it okay?"

Bai Shihai only remembered when Deng Min brought up the matter of finding a wife.

Bai Shibao, don't let the thing that carries on the family line freeze!

Upon hearing this, Bai Shibao nearly choked on his own saliva: "Cough cough cough... Big brother, you... don't worry, it's alright, I'm fine, and it's fine too!"

Bai Shihai thought that since he had already brought it up, he should confirm it: "You're family, so don't be shy. If anything happens, you must tell me. We can always get treatment."

"It's okay! It's really okay! Absolutely nothing's wrong!"

Bai Shibao desperately wanted to call for help, and he instinctively took a step back.

"Are you really alright?"

"I'm really okay!"

"Please, please don't..."

"Brother, why are you still hoping something happens to me?"

"Of course not, it's good that you're alright," Bai Shihai said, relieved to see Bai Shibo's insistence. "I'll go out now, you should rest well. The doctor said you need to stay in bed for a couple more days."

"Okay, big brother, I'll sleep a little longer."

Bai Shibo awkwardly saw Bai Shihai off, then sat on the kang (a heated brick bed) looking down at his crotch, questioning himself.

Is he really alright?

.

When Bai Jiaojiao and Shen Heng returned home, Shen Heng lay on the bed and realized, "I'm getting lazier and lazier because of you. I'm lying on the kang (heated brick bed) during the day."
