Chapter 167 Luring the Snake Out of its Hole

After listening to Wang Shen's words, Liang Zichen remained silent for a while, pondering the meaning behind them. After a short while, Liang Zichen's pupils suddenly dilated, and he looked at Wang Shen, saying, "Luring the snake out of its hole?"

When Wang Shen heard these four words, he nodded.

“But,” Liang Zichen continued, “if Dean Fu Ju wants to lure Xiao Lin into a trap, what method should she use? In other words, where is the bait?”

"The answer to this question is easy to find." Wang Shen smiled, then looked at Liang Zichen without giving a direct answer.

Liang Zichen also looked at Wang Shen, thought for a while, and then shook his head.

“Okay.” Wang Shen sighed. “I’m asking you, what is the biggest threat to Xiao Lin right now? You need to analyze it from Xiao Lin’s perspective.” Wang Shen reminded Liang Zichen.

"The biggest threat to Xiao Lin?" Liang Zichen thought for a moment, then snapped his fingers and replied, "That's right, it's Dean Fu Ju. Right now, Xiao Lin must be very worried that Dean Fu Ju will expose her crimes. So Xiao Lin must want to get rid of Dean Fu Ju immediately."

"By the way, who is the bait?" Wang Shen smiled at Liang Zichen.

"Dean Fu Ju is trying to use herself as bait to lure Xiao Lin into a trap!" At this moment, Liang Zichen finally understood Dean Fu Ju's plan completely.

Wang Shen listened to Liang Zichen's words while nodding repeatedly. "Yes, so we need to find Dean Fu Ju as soon as possible. I believe that when we find Dean Fu Ju, Xiao Lin will also appear."

“But just knowing about Dean Fu Ju’s plan isn’t enough. She’s using herself as bait, but which pond should we put that bait in? If the bait isn’t placed in the right pond, it’s all for nothing.” Liang Zichen immediately realized that the current situation was still not optimistic, and finding Dean Fu Ju would still be quite difficult.

After hearing Liang Zichen's question, Wang Shen also fell into deep thought. What exactly did Dean Fu Ju intend to do? And how could she possibly get Xiaolin to take the bait?

"Perhaps we can think about it differently." Suddenly, an idea flashed through Wang Shen's mind.

When Liang Zichen heard Wang Shen say that, he felt that Wang Shen must have thought of a good solution, so he looked at Wang Shen with surprise and asked, "What way of thinking?"

“Let’s switch roles between hunter and prey,” Wang Shen explained.

“From the beginning, we’ve been portraying Dean Fu Ju as the hunter, thinking about how a hunter should lure and capture its prey. But what if we consider Dean Fu Ju as the prey?” Wang Shen paused here, then looked at Liang Zichen, seemingly hoping for further analysis from him.

Liang Zichen understood Wang Shen's meaning, and after thinking for a while, he slowly said, "If Dean Fu Ju becomes the prey, then Xiao Lin becomes the hunter. When a hunter goes to capture his prey, he will definitely..." At this point, Liang Zichen paused.

After a while, Liang Zichen suddenly looked up at Wang Shen and said, "When a hunter goes to hunt, he will definitely go to the places where the prey often appears. Dean Fu Ju may not know where Xiao Lin often goes. But Xiao Lin must have secretly obtained a lot of information about Dean Fu Ju. Otherwise, Xiao Lin would not have been able to find that house in the wilderness."

As soon as Liang Zichen finished speaking, Wang Shen clapped his hands and said, "That's right. And I think Dean Fu Ju must have thought of this as well. Furthermore, I think Dean Fu Ju must have discovered that Xiao Lin had confirmed her whereabouts. That's why she took a desperate gamble, sending the child to our police station first, and then going to deal with Xiao Lin alone."

"Based on this analysis, besides that deserted house, are there other places where Dean Fu Ju would frequently appear?" Liang Zichen said, pondering various possibilities.

Liang Zichen paused for a moment, then figured out where Dean Fu Ju was hiding. Looking at Wang Shen, Liang Zichen succinctly stated his guess: "Han Lin's house!"

Wang Shen and Liang Zichen exchanged a glance and then nodded.

"There's no time to lose. Quickly investigate the surveillance footage of Hanlin's residential area. Check the footage at the main entrance and the apartment building where Hanlin lives. Let's start counting from when Dean Fu Ju fled that deserted house. It's only been two days." After saying that, Wang Shen turned to leave.

"Captain Wang." At this moment, Liang Zichen called out to Wang Shen, looked at him with a puzzled expression, and then asked, "Aren't you going to come and check the surveillance footage?"

Wang Shen glanced at his watch and replied, "From the time you contact the property management to the time you get the surveillance footage, it will take at least an hour. During that time, I can't help you at all."

"So?" Liang Zichen continued to ask, puzzled.

Wang Shen smiled and said, "I just promised that child I would take him to get something to eat. So I'm leaving this hour in your care."

"Ah!" Liang Zichen exclaimed in surprise, then muttered to himself, "I've never seen you treat your subordinates so well."

Wang Shen glanced at Liang Zichen and said, "Even if you were twenty years younger, I could still take you to eat cake."

However, before Wang Shen could finish speaking, Liang Zichen disappeared at the end of the corridor in a flash.

Wang Shen returned to his office. The two police officers immediately stood up from their chairs upon seeing him. Wang Shen waved to them.

Wang Shen walked to the little boy's side, half-squatting down, and said, "Uncle has already sent someone to look for your grandma, and we'll find her soon. Now, shall Uncle take you to eat some cake?"

The little boy looked at Wang Shen, a smile returning to his face, and then nodded firmly. Wang Shen picked the little boy up from the chair and left the office.

Coincidentally, there was a shopping mall right next to the police station. And inside that mall was a nice cake shop. Wang Shen carried the little boy all the way into the cake shop and arrived at the counter.

An auntie standing inside the counter looked at the little boy in Wang Shen's hands and said, "Your son is so cute." As she spoke, she touched the little boy's face.

Unexpectedly, the little boy became a bit unhappy and replied in his childish voice, "Auntie, you're wrong. He's not my dad, he's my uncle, my dad's good friend, just like Uncle Tang Feng."

The waiter looked a little embarrassed, but then smiled gently and said, "Oh, I see. The little one is so cute."

"Come on, let's see what we want to eat." Wang Shen smiled at the waiter and then put the little boy on the ground.

The little boy's eyes lit up when he saw the dazzling array of cakes in the glass display case. He pressed his rosy cheeks close to the glass, admiring the colors inside.

“We can eat whatever we want, as much as we want,” Wang Shen said gently, squatting down and patting the little boy’s head.

The little boy glanced at Wang Shen, smiled, and then pointed to the strawberry cake in the shop window.
