The car drove back into Han Lin's residential area. Wang Shen and Liang Zichen raced to Han Lin's door. Liang Zichen glanced at Wang Shen, who nodded. Then Liang Zichen inserted the key into the lock. He gently turned the lock, and with a click, the door opened a crack.
Just as Liang Zichen was about to push open the door, Wang Shen stopped him.
"Be careful, there might be a trap inside," Wang Shen warned, then pushed the door open with a strong push.
Wang Shen and Liang Zichen glanced around the room; it seemed no different from when they left. Wang Shen stepped inside first, glancing up at the lintel. It was another false alarm; Dean Fu Ju hadn't set up any traps.
Liang Zichen followed behind Wang Shen, inching his way inside, afraid of triggering any mechanisms. After about ten minutes, Wang Shen and Liang Zichen had checked almost the entire house.
Liang Zichen suddenly straightened up, sighed, and said, "Captain Wang, I feel like we're like those two thieves who broke into the house in Home Alone."
Wang Shen glanced at Liang Zichen, seemingly not intending to joke. After a while, Wang Shen spoke up, "From what we can see so far, Dean Fu Ju doesn't appear to have set up any traps or mechanisms in the room."
After saying this, Wang Shen frowned, then sat down on the sofa and fell into deep thought. Liang Zichen glanced at Wang Shen, not daring to disturb his meditation, and wandered around the room alone.
Suddenly, Liang Zichen called out, "Captain Wang, come quick and see what this is!"
As Liang Zichen spoke, he picked up a piece of paper from the dining table and handed it to Wang Shen.
Wang Shen immediately stood up from the sofa, walked to Liang Zichen's side, took the paper from Liang Zichen's hand, and glanced at it. A series of numbers appeared on the paper.
"Is this paper on the dining table?" Wang Shen looked at the paper in his hand, then glanced at Liang Zichen and asked.
Liang Zichen nodded.
"Did we have this piece of paper when we left last time?" Wang Shen pressed on.
Liang Zichen shook his head and replied, "Probably not. This piece of paper is currently on the dining table. If it had been there at the time, we would have definitely noticed it."
"Captain Wang, I think the numbers on this piece of paper are phone numbers."
"A mobile phone number?" Wang Shen glanced at the number in his hand again. It was indeed a mobile phone number, but it was not quite the same as a regular mobile phone number.
Wang Shen thought for a moment, took out his phone, and dialed the number. After he finished entering the number, the phone started beeping. Wang Shen's eyes widened in surprise; the call had actually gone through.
However, the call was quickly disconnected. Wang Shen frowned and then moved the phone away from his ear.
"Captain Wang, how is it?" Liang Zichen asked immediately upon seeing Wang Shen's expression.
Wang Shen glanced at Liang Zichen and then said, "This is indeed a mobile phone number, but I suspect it's still a virtual number left over from before. I just tried dialing this number, but the owner of the number immediately hung up."
"Who exactly owns this number?" Liang Zichen frowned, pondering this question.
“Let’s sort out this line of thought first. This piece of paper appeared on the table after Dean Fu Ju arrived. So the first question we need to answer is, did Dean Fu Ju bring this piece of paper, or did she already have it?” After saying that, Wang Shen paused and looked at Liang Zichen.
Liang Zichen didn't answer Wang Shen immediately, but thought about it for a while. After a while, Liang Zichen looked up at Wang Shen and said, "I think Dean Fu Ju found this paper in this room. First, if Dean Fu Ju already had this paper, why would she bring it into this room? To leave us a clue? I don't think that hypothesis is valid. Captain Wang, you just said that Dean Fu Ju has already made a do-or-die decision. So I don't think she wants us to get involved."
Upon hearing this, Wang Shen looked at the paper in his hand and nodded in agreement.
"Secondly, this raises a new question. If this paper was originally in this room, why didn't we find it back then? Also, if we didn't even look for it, why was Dean Fu Ju able to find it?" Liang Zichen stared at the paper in Wang Shen's hand and continued to raise questions.
“We couldn’t find this paper because Han Lin hid it very well. Dean Fu Ju was able to find it because she knew where it was hidden,” Wang Shen guessed, following Liang Zichen’s line of thought.
Liang Zichen nodded, "And I think that Dean Fu Ju knowing where this paper was hidden is a clue that Han Lin left for her a long time ago. Han Lin may have foreseen his own fate, so he left this as a precaution."
"Wait!" Upon hearing this, Wang Shen immediately interrupted Liang Zichen. "You're saying this is a clue left by Han Lin for Dean Fu Ju? If so, then the owner of this number is...?"
Wang Shen and Liang Zichen exchanged a glance, then announced Xiao Lin's name.
Wang Shen frowned again and said, "Han Lin is really stupid!"
"Huh?" Upon hearing this, Liang Zichen looked at Wang Shen in surprise.
Seeing Liang Zichen's surprised expression, Wang Shen explained, "Han Lin may have originally intended to leave Dean Fu Ju with leverage over Xiao Lin, so that these leverages could become a protective charm for Dean Fu Ju and the child. However, this is clearly Dean Fu Ju's death warrant."
"So what do we do now? Keep waiting?"
Wang Shen nodded and replied, "Right now we have no idea where Dean Fu Ju and Xiao Lin are, so we can only wait. However, in the meantime, we need to confirm whether our earlier guess was accurate."
How do we confirm this?
“It’s simple. We suspect that Han Lin hid this paper somewhere in the house. So, now we need to find that place. Also, notify the bureau to send two people over to the surveillance room to keep watch. If Dean Fu Ju or Xiao Lin enters this community, notify us immediately.”
After listening to Wang Shen's words, Liang Zichen nodded, took out his phone, and dialed the police station. After explaining Wang Shen's requirements, Liang Zichen and Wang Shen began searching the house for the hidden "treasure spot."
The two searched the house thoroughly several times. Finally, Wang Shen waved to Liang Zichen, who was standing outside the bedroom.
“Look at these floorboards.” Wang Shen stared at the floorboards in front of him, pointing to them as he spoke.
Liang Zichen understood what Wang Shen meant, and immediately squatted down and tapped the floorboards, then broke one of them apart.
