Chapter 220 The Chain Scheme

After Han Mo deliberately left the key and revealed that she wouldn't be home that night, Xiao Lin indeed took the bait. Han Mo left the office early in the morning, but didn't actually go to any so-called reader meet-and-greet. Instead, she found a secluded spot downstairs from her apartment and hid.

During this time, Han Mo had already made arrangements with Lin Su and Xu Xiaolin. However, Han Mo told them that she was attending a reader meet-and-greet and would call them after she finished her business.

Later, the first person Han Mo saw was Xiao Lin. After Xiao Lin went upstairs, Han Mo smiled, then picked up her phone and dialed Xu Xiaolin's number.

"Xiaolin, come over now. Yes, I promise this is the last time. Please help me see if Lin Su is a man your sister can entrust her life to. Okay, you don't want to see your sister being deceived, do you?" From the conversation, it seems that Xu Xiaolin has already resisted contacting Lin Su in this way.

However, in the end, Xu Xiaolin agreed to Han Mo's request. While waiting for Xu Xiaolin, Han Mo called Han Lin from "Spicy Restaurant" again, specifically requesting Han Lin to deliver the food. Moreover, Han Mo accurately estimated the time it would take for Xu Xiaolin to arrive at her house, so she extended the delivery time by half an hour.

As you all remember, Han Lin and Han Mo once had an ambiguous relationship. So, when Han Lin received another call from Han Mo, he naively assumed that Han Mo was "lonely" again. Han Lin happily calculated the delivery time in his mind, but little did he know that this day would be the beginning of his nightmare.

After a while, Xu Xiaolin finally arrived at Han Mo's side. "Sister," Xu Xiaolin called out to Han Mo.

Han Mo smiled at Xu Xiaolin and then handed her her phone. "It's all my fault. I promise you, this will be the last time. Lin Su hasn't arrived yet, so go upstairs and get ready. You can keep the phone, but be careful not to give anything away." After saying that, Han Mo patted Xu Xiaolin's shoulder, smiling at her the whole time.

Xu Xiaolin nodded helplessly, then walked into the dimly lit apartment building in the night.

Suddenly, Han Mo called out to Xu Xiaolin and added, "Today, Lin Su told me he didn't bring his keys. So he told me not to lock the door. He's prepared a surprise for me. So let's leave the door open and let him come over without me noticing. Let's create some mystery." After saying that, Han Mo gave Xu Xiaolin a playful wink.

Actually, Han Mo's reason for telling Xu Xiaolin not to lock the door was simple: to make things easier for Han Lin, who was delivering food later. And Lin Su? He had the key. Standing in the dim moonlight, Han Mo watched Xu Xiaolin's retreating figure, clenched her fist, and then gave a wicked smile.

"My dear sister, everything depends on your own destiny." Han Mo hid behind a big tree and said this softly when she saw the light in her room come on.

Some might ask, if Xiao Lin killed Xu Xiaolin, wouldn't Lin Su be completely uninvolved in the case? Actually, Han Mo has already considered all these possibilities. If Xiao Lin killed Xu Xiaolin, then for Han Mo, her rival in love is dead, and she can identify Xiao Lin as a witness. This outcome would be quite good for Han Mo.

But events were unfolding in the way Han Mo had anticipated, leading to the perfect outcome. Han Mo stared at the light in the room for a short while before Han Lin appeared below the apartment building. Han Mo glanced at her watch; it was time to deliver the food.

After watching Han Lin enter the apartment building, Han Mo picked up her other phone and called Lin Su, asking him to come to her home. Han Mo had two phones: one for work, and the other more private, known to only a few. Lin Su knew both of Han Mo's numbers. Furthermore, the phone Han Mo had given to Xu Xiaolin earlier was only her work phone.

Han Mo watched as Han Lin carried a bag of takeout into the apartment building. Han Mo remained quietly standing by the side of the large tree, intently observing everything happening inside the building. A few minutes later, Han Mo suddenly saw Han Lin rush out of the building. Not long after, Xiao Lin also rushed out of the building.

The night was too dark, and the streetlights in the neighborhood were practically useless, so Han Mo couldn't see the expressions on Han Lin and Xiao Lin's faces. However, Xiao Lin was chasing after Han Lin in the direction he had fled. Furthermore, judging from their running pace and speed, Han Mo guessed that something must have happened upstairs.

Han Mo stood there for a few more minutes, but Xu Xiaolin still didn't come downstairs. Han Mo glanced at her phone again and suddenly received a text message. Han Mo opened the message and saw that it read: "Sister, save me."

Han Mo frowned slightly, gripping her phone tightly, her feet seemingly rooted to the spot yet not quite. For a moment, Han Mo's mind was in turmoil; she didn't know what to do. But just as Han Mo hesitated, Lin Su appeared in her field of vision.

Han Mo glanced at Lin Su's retreating figure, gritted her teeth, and finally loosened her tightly clenched fist. Han Mo remained standing quietly, watching how things unfolded.

Lin Su had been inside for over ten minutes. Han Mo glanced at the upstairs light; nothing seemed amiss. At this moment, Han Mo grew curious about what had happened inside. But before her curiosity could lead her to do anything irrational, suddenly, the lights in the room went out.

Not long after, Lin Su's figure reappeared at the entrance of the apartment building. Han Mo frowned slightly, carefully observing Lin Su's whereabouts. She saw Lin Su glance around at the entrance of the building a couple of times, and then leave carrying two large bags of things.

Han Mo was very curious. What exactly was in those two large bags? Why did Lin Su leave alone? What about Xu Xiaolin? How was she doing? A whole host of questions plagued Han Mo. Finally, Han Mo decided to go upstairs to find out.

But as soon as Han Mo took a step forward, she noticed that the lights in her house had suddenly come back on. Han Mo stepped back, frowned, and stared intently at her balcony. Then, something even more surprising happened: Xu Xiaolin appeared on the balcony.

"What is she trying to do?" Han Mo asked herself. Then, she heard a thud, and a trash bag fell from Xu Xiaolin's hand. Xu Xiaolin seemed to bend down and glance downstairs, then went back inside after confirming that everything was alright.

What exactly did Xu Xiaolin throw down? Thinking this, Han Mo finally took a step and walked towards the bag of trash. Just then, a light suddenly illuminated the narrow street. Han Mo immediately retreated, hiding herself again in the shadows of the trees.

It turned out to be garbage collection time. Then the garbage collector cursed, "Damn it, who littered again!"
