Upon hearing the busy tone on the phone, Shen Xiyu relayed her boss's message to Reporter Xiao.
Xiao Yan was delighted to hear this, but she didn't know when would be a good time to conduct the interview.
However, she told the editor-in-chief everything about it, like pouring beans from a bamboo tube.
“I’ll send you the phone number of President Li from Shenzhen University. You can go directly to President Li for help and ask him to arrange a suitable time for you.”
After getting the principal's phone number, Xiao Yan immediately called him and explained why she had come.
Five minutes later, Cai Chunfen, the counselor, came to the gate to meet her.
"Hello, Reporter Xiao, the principal asked me to pick you up and take you to his office for a meeting."
Xiao Yan smiled and said, "Thank you, thank you for your trouble."
Then, Cai Chunfen led Xiao Yan into Shenzhen University, along the campus paths, through several green belts, and finally to the school's administration building.
Upon arriving at the principal's office, Xiao Yan politely greeted the principal and then said, "Principal Li, I apologize for bothering you. I had already found Chen Ze, but we couldn't think of a suitable time for the interview, so we came to you for help."
Principal Li smiled faintly upon hearing this.
"Comrade Xiao, what great good deed has our student done that warrants your Shenzhen Evening News coming all the way here to interview him?"
Xiao Yan smiled slightly and handed him a copy of the Shenzhen Evening News. "Principal Li, you'll understand why I interviewed him once you see the headline in the newspaper."
Principal Li took the newspaper, carefully read the news, pondered for a moment, and then slowly began to speak:
"Xiao Cai, go and find out which department this Chen Ze is in during his freshman year, and then call him over."
“Principal, there’s no need to investigate. This Chen Ze is my student. I remembered him when he asked me for leave last time.”
Principal Li waved his hand, "Call him over quickly, don't keep the comrades from Shenzhen Evening News waiting too long."
"Yes, Principal."
Cai Chunfen arrived at the finance class and stood at the door, calling out loudly, "Chen Ze, come out here for a moment."
All the students in the class turned to look at him, wondering what Chen Ze had done to be dragged out by the counselor for a lecture.
Chen Ze got up and walked outside, wondering why his counselor wanted to see him. He didn't seem to have skipped any classes recently, nor had he been late or left early.
Meanwhile, the students in the class were all whispering and gossiping among themselves.
[I heard that Chen Ze dated the beautiful class monitor for a few days, did some shady things, and then was forced to transfer schools.]
[If they're dating, why did the beautiful class monitor transfer schools instead of Chen Ze being transferred elsewhere?]
[That's because Chen Ze's family is wealthy. They probably bribed school leaders to suppress the matter. You know how people from Guangcheng get rich from land expropriation.]
[So, it's highly likely that he was called out by the counselor this time because someone reported him.]
On the way, the counselor looked at Chen Ze with a serious expression and asked sternly, "Chen Ze, when I saw the principal just now, I noticed that he didn't look too good! Tell me honestly, did you do something bad outside of school?"
Hearing this, Chen Ze's heart skipped a beat, but he still calmly replied, "Counselor, you've really wronged me. I really didn't do anything wrong! I just opened an internet technology company in Shenzhen and tried to start my own business. That can't be considered a bad thing, can it?"
After hearing this, the counselor's tense expression relaxed slightly, and he said, "Oh, I see. As long as it's not a bad thing, that's fine. But then again, starting a business is not an easy thing, you'll have to put in a lot of effort!"
And so, Chen Ze explained his company's situation in detail to the counselor the whole way. Not only that, he also shared without reservation the various difficulties the company was currently facing.
He told his counselor everything. In particular, the recent uproar over the delivery rider incident was giving Chen Ze a real headache.
After listening patiently to everything Chen Ze had to say, Cai Chunfen earnestly advised him, "Chen Ze, when you meet the reporter from Shenzhen Evening News later, you must explain this matter to them in detail and in its entirety."
"You know, this kind of thing can be a big deal or a small deal. If it's not handled properly and those reporters take it out of context and report it, your company will be in big trouble!"
Faced with his counselor's concern and reminder, Chen Ze confidently patted his chest and said with a smile, "Counselor, don't worry! This little thing is nothing to me. I guarantee I can handle it smoothly!"
Soon, the two arrived at the principal's office, and Chen Ze politely stepped forward to greet the principal:
"Hello, Principal, what can I do for you?" he asked, feigning ignorance.
“It wasn’t me who contacted you, it was a reporter from Shenzhen Evening News. They were looking for a suitable time to interview you, so I invited them here.”
Xiao Yan gave a professional smile and joked, "President Chen, it took me a lot of effort to get Principal Li to give me some advice during this interview."
"Um...it's not really appropriate to trouble the principal with such a small matter, is it?"
The principal said, "You can just conduct a simple interview here."
Chen Ze and reporter Xiao nodded simultaneously, indicating that they had no objections.
"Mr. Chen, wouldn't you like to go back and change into something nicer?"
Chen Ze decisively refused: "No need, this is fine."
Next, reporter Xiao turned on the camera and pointed the microphone at Chen Ze.
"Mr. Chen, let's talk about your company's practice of outsourcing 30,000 delivery riders to labor intermediary companies. Do you think this practice is reasonable?"
“Reporter Xiao, you should know that my Panda Delivery platform has only been open for a little over a month, and we already have more than 30,000 riders. So, in a year, our company’s riders may reach 300,000.”
“With so many people, it’s impossible for me to ask each of them for tax invoices. Secondly, being a delivery rider is a high-risk profession. A few days ago, a rider ran a red light while delivering food and an accident occurred. We had to compensate him 350,000 yuan.”
Xiao Yan said matter-of-factly, "They are your employees, isn't it normal to get workers' compensation?"
"Reporter Xiao, if there's one accident for every 30,000 riders, then with 300,000 riders, that's ten accidents a month. Our company will have to pay out 3 million a month, and over 30 million a year. Tell me, how can my company stay in business if this continues?"
Xiao Yan thought for a moment, "Are you sure Panda Delivery can reach 300,000 riders a year, working for your company?"
She believes Chen Ze is just talking big, that he forgets who he is as soon as he achieves a little success, because there is currently no company in Shenzhen with 300,000 employees.
Chen Ze said calmly, "Three hundred thousand people, I'm being conservative. In my judgment, it's more than three hundred thousand."
