Chapter 148 Heading to the Youth Apartment

"Wan'er is going out today, and there may be many potential dangers. She should eat more meat to have the strength!" Junjue suggested.

"Mmm! I want braised pork, steamed spare ribs, stir-fried vegetables, a big chicken leg, and a bowl of rice."

"good!"

Three dishes appeared on the table shortly afterward. Junjue asked Wan'er to sit on the sofa and said gently:

"Wan'er, eat more so you'll have the energy to fight when we go out." Junjue knew that many people were completely letting themselves go in the current smoggy weather, so he needed to focus even more on protecting his girlfriend.

"Hmm! We have to finish all the food, not leave a single bit." Wan'er said with a frustrated look, because she couldn't see the dishes in front of her and could only pick at them randomly by feel.

"Here, your chicken leg!" Knowing that Wan'er couldn't see what was happening around her, Junjue put a lot of food into her bowl before taking care of his own stomach.

"This chicken leg is so delicious. Do you think I saved the galaxy in my past life? Otherwise, how could I have such a great boyfriend like you?"

"I think so!" Junjue paused for a moment before swallowing what was in his mouth and replying.

The two ate for more than ten minutes, finishing all the food and throwing away all the disposable bowls and chopsticks. Junjue knew he would never come here again, so he put everything into his spatial storage.

"Wan'er, everything is ready. We can set off now."

"Alright! We're off with the five black daylily buds! Stay close, or we'll lose them again," Wan'er instructed.

"Awooo~ Roar!"

"Woof woof woof..." Upon hearing its master's words, Wuhei's eyes flashed with a human-like expression.

The woman underestimated them. Even if they couldn't see their surroundings, they could still follow their owner's footsteps by smell.

Hearing the dog's response, she went over, opened the door, and stepped out of the dark room. A biting wind swept across her face, stinging her.

She and her two dogs, Junjue and Junjue, bravely took their first steps, ready to face the outside world.

"This is the sixtieth floor. I'll teleport you down." After saying that, Junjue picked up his girlfriend and the two dogs and teleported downstairs in the blink of an eye.

The sight outside left her speechless. The city, once a ruin, was now filled with wrecked vehicles, and the thick black smoke in the air made visibility even worse, almost impossible to see.

Screams echoed from afar, filling the entire city.

Shangguan Wan'er held tightly to Junjue's arm as they walked down the street, trying her best not to hear about the horrific scenes.

Suddenly, a sharp howl came from afar, and Shangguan Wan'er's heart tightened. She quickened her pace, holding Junjue tightly, hoping to leave this terrible place as soon as possible.

"What's wrong with this world? Has it become a living hell just because of one natural disaster after another?" Wan'er sighed as she heard the incessant screams in the distance.

"The world today lacks national laws and regulations, which plays right into the hands of those with wolfish ambitions and evil intentions."

Junjue paid no attention to the incessant screams in the distance; all he cared about was his girlfriend and his four good brothers.

They arrived at a once-bustling shopping mall, hoping to find some usable items.

However, the entrance to the mall had become a gaping maw, with bloodstains and severed limbs flying everywhere, causing Junjue to frown deeply.

Shangguan Wan'er stepped on something, and before Junjue could stop her, she picked it up and almost vomited.

"Ah...! How come it's a severed hand!" She quickly threw away the bloody thing, goosebumps rising all over her body.

"I was about to stop you, but you were too fast, I didn't even have time to say anything," Junjue said, rubbing his nose somewhat awkwardly.

"I won't be curious again next time, or I'll scare myself to death sooner or later. Let's keep watching!"

Junjue continued to carefully lead Wan'er through the ruins of the mall, hoping to find more items needed for survival for the people in the youth apartment.

He opened a damaged shelf and found some canned goods and bottled water inside. It wasn't much, but it was enough for them.

He tossed the items into his spatial storage and continued on his way with his girlfriend and two dogs.

Thick smog filled the outside, obscuring visibility to the point where it was almost impossible to see anything around us. Fortunately, the Duke possessed night vision.

He looked at Wan'er with heartache. Without this ability, they would have to proceed in the dark.

The closer you get to the once bustling area, the more screams you hear, and strange howls echo from afar that send chills down your spine.

Junjue gripped Wan'er's hand tightly, trying to suppress the fear and unease in his heart. He wasn't afraid of the chaos outside, but he was afraid of the scenes from his previous life.

The world has descended into complete chaos and panic, with people becoming prey for mutated animals and playthings for some villains.

They could only rely on each other's strength to find hope for survival.

Junjue held Wan'er's hand tightly as they walked with difficulty along the dilapidated road amidst various ruins.

They decided to collect supplies ahead and then head to room 1456 on the 14th floor of the Youth Apartment in Lane 14, Ping'an District, Zhouzhou City, as they had promised the middle-aged man.

The road ahead was fraught with danger, and in the distance came screams of humans and roars of mutated animals. They knew their journey would not be easy.

"Wan'er, here's a knife for self-defense, take it."

Wan'er took the sharp longsword, gripped it tightly, and said with some fear:

"Yeah! It's not safe out here at all; we can't do without weapons!"

Soon after, Junjue led Wan'er out of another large supermarket. The dilapidated city was shrouded in various dangers, and pedestrians on the road were fleeing. Only the two of them were still relentlessly searching for hope of survival.

"Roar roar roar..."

"Woof woof woof..."

Upon hearing the warning cries of the two dogs, Junjue suddenly felt a chill rise from the bottom of his heart.

He instinctively looked up and saw a giant mutated spider descending from the sky, baring its fangs and claws as it pounced on them.

Wan'er's heart was pounding, but she knew there was no turning back now.

"Wan'er, you can't see what's going on around you, and your wounds haven't healed yet. Stand aside and wait. Leave all the danger to me."

She held the Doomsday King's hand tightly, not wanting to burden him too much, because she had no special abilities.

If I get injured, I'll need him to take care of me and silently encourage me.

"Okay! Be careful." After saying that, Wan'er carefully walked to the side, holding her weapon tightly and staying with the two dogs.

"You two little guys are no match for that big guy, so you'd better stay here and not cause any more trouble."

"Awoo~." The two dogs obediently stayed by their female owner's side, not causing any trouble for their male owner.
