Chapter 29 Leading People to Search for Supplies

The people around them ignored the girls and began to complain and blame each other.

After more than an hour of escalation, arguments broke out among the people in the shelter. Everyone was fighting for their own survival, their words like sharp blades. Shangguan Mingyue tried to calm the argument, but to no avail.

"Enough!" Shangguan Mingyue shouted angrily, "We can't hurt each other because of fighting! The most important thing now is to unite and find a way to survive!"

Her shouts did not stop the argument, but Shangguan Wan'er, Shangguan Mingyue, and Liang Shuzhen decided to leave the chaotic place; they did not want to see such a horrific scene anymore.

They took a deep breath and, seeing that the acid rain wasn't too severe, quickly headed towards other shelters on the mountaintop.

What the three of them found unacceptable was that after changing more than a dozen shelters, each one was worse than the last, and they could only resign themselves to their fate and find a corner by the window of any shelter.

The three of them watched as the acid rain continued to fall heavier and heavier, and they felt utterly hopeless.

Standing by the window of the mountaintop shelter, they looked down at the entire capital, ravaged by acid rain. Ruins and rotting corpses littered the landscape, a scene of utter desolation.

Despair welled up in their hearts, but they were unwilling to give up.

"We have to survive! We don't know when this acid rain will stop. If this continues, we'll really starve to death here. There's no way we'll get down the mountain." Shangguan Wan'er's voice was filled with determination and despair.

Shangguan Mingyue and Liang Shuzhen nodded in agreement. They decided to find survivors from other shelters and work together to survive. They knew the road ahead was fraught with difficulties and dangers, but they were unwilling to be consumed by terror.

In this terrifying world, Shangguan Wan'er, Shangguan Mingyue, and Liang Shuzhen decide to step forward and seek a glimmer of hope.

Their steps were firm, their goals clear. Though facing endless darkness, they believed that as long as they persevered, there would always be hope.

Three days later, the acid rain stopped as expected, gradually turning into a light, transparent drizzle. At this time, tens of thousands of people in the shelter, who were starving, were pleasantly surprised to see that the corrosive acid rain had stopped.

"Look everyone! The corrosive acid rain has stopped. Can we go down the mountain to find food now?"

"I think it would be better to wait another day. Although the acid rain in the sky has stopped, the acid rain on the ground is still very corrosive."

“I also think that once the corrosive acid rain on the ground is diluted by the rainwater for a day, the corrosion shouldn’t be so severe.” After saying that, the boy threw a branch into the acid rain on the ground outside the door, and the outer skin of the resin was quickly corroded.

"Look at this! The acid rain underground is so corrosive, who would dare to go out right now!"

"But we're starving, we don't have time to wait!"

"Then you can leave! None of us will stop you."

Seeing that everyone chose to go hungry and no one was willing to go out, everyone chose to wait.

A day later, the corrosive acid rain was still very strong. Tens of thousands of people waited another day, but it still didn't work. On the third day, when everyone was in despair, the things they threw out finally stopped being corroded. By then, everyone was so hungry that they collapsed and couldn't walk.

Everyone's lips were cracked and peeling. Luckily, there was water to drink, otherwise they would have been stuffed long ago.

In the eerie atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic fortress atop Glide Ridge, the Lord and his four brothers gathered to discuss their next move.

Ye Yuan looked around the fortress, his gaze falling on the ruins and the traces of corrosive acid rain. He gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, "The acid rain that lasted for seven days and seven nights is truly unprecedented and terrifying. It seems we can no longer stand idly by."

“That’s right.” Dongfang Ao nodded. “This acid rain has already caused enormous damage. We need to assist those people in the shelters and find some supplies as soon as possible to maintain the shelters on the mountaintop.”

Su Ye rubbed his forehead and said with a wry smile, "Those people are running out of food and water. Although we have a lot of supplies, we can't keep feeding them like this forever!"

But if we don't help them find new supplies soon, I'm afraid..."

“They will starve to death here,” Di Zhantian added, his voice tinged with helplessness.

The Duke was silent for a moment, then suddenly pulled out a map and unfolded it on the table. The map marked the surrounding cities and villages, as well as locations where resources might be found.

"What we need to do is help them become self-sufficient, let them search for supplies to survive the three months of torrential rain, and I will go and collect the materials used for construction. If there are any, I'll take them; if not, I'll leave it at that." The Duke's tone was firm. He knew that if he wanted to build a super post-apocalyptic fortress in the future, this was the only option.

"But the situation is not optimistic; the road is fraught with deadly dangers," Ye Yuan warned.

“I understand,” the Duke nodded, “but we have no other choice. The people have been starving on the mountaintop for too long, and we must find them food and water.”

"Let's go then." Dongfang Ao stood up, his expression resolute. "Although there are many difficulties, we will definitely be able to find supplies."

Everyone stood up, ready to leave the post-apocalyptic fortress and lead the others on a journey to find supplies.

After preparing their private planes, Junjue, Di Zhantian, Dongfang Ao, Su Ye, and Ye Yuan flew them to each mountaintop shelter.

When a group of refugees, starving and on the verge of despair, thought they were about to starve to death.

Suddenly seeing a private plane hovering above their shelter, a glimmer of surprise appeared in everyone's eyes, and they said weakly:

"We...we're saved! There are five private jets parked here?"

"I knew that our motherland was prosperous and strong, and would not abandon so many of us."

"Great, at least we won't starve to death."

Looking at all those who were too hungry to get up, the Duke shouted:

"These four days will be a period of light rain. We will take you out in a private plane for four days. You will have four days to search for supplies. After four days, there will be a massive rainstorm that will last for three months. When the massive rainstorm stops, floods and tsunamis will arrive."

So, whether you can safely get through three months or even longer depends on your efforts over these four days.

Upon hearing Junjue's words, those who originally wanted to go home were so frightened that they immediately abandoned the idea.

Are you kidding me?! Three months of torrential rain, the house must have been completely flooded.

But having help is better than having no help at all! Everyone's eyes were filled with tears. It was wonderful. As long as they could go out to find supplies, they would do everything they could to find them.

Jun Yue, Di Zhantian, Dongfang Ao, Su Ye, and Ye Yuan exchanged glances and distributed a day's worth of food to each shelter.

Upon seeing that they had enough food for the day, the ten people who had reached the top of the shelter had tears in their eyes as they excitedly thanked the five handsome and extraordinary young men who had suddenly arrived.

"Great, finally we have something to eat."

"Finally, we won't starve to death."

"Hopefully we can find more supplies today so we can survive the three months of torrential rain."
