Chapter 29: Study Conversation

In the study, Mr. Liang changed his kind expression in front of his grandson and sat in front of the desk with a serious face. Liang Jianjun personally brought a glass of water to the old man and then sat down.

"Jianjun, what do you think about what happened today?" the old man asked. "I always feel like Yi Yi was saying this tonight that it was all due to business competition, but her words were actually a bit more subtle. It's like she knew something but couldn't say it, so she was trying to warn her family," Liang Jianjun replied after a moment of reflection.

"Don't you think it's a little strange that Yiyi stayed at the company until the evening today? Yiyi has been to the company to visit her second brother before, but she didn't stay long each time. Today, she was out from noon and didn't come back until her second brother got off work in the evening. It gives me the feeling that she must have discovered something wrong in the company, and her behavior seems to be protecting her second brother from getting into trouble."

"Dad, what do you think she found out?" Liang Jianjun thought for a while and couldn't come up with anything, so he asked. The old man thought for a moment and said, "Go call the second son and ask him what happened after Yi Yi arrived at the company today?"

Liang Jianjun left the study and went straight to Liang Wenyu's room to tell Liang Wenyu that the old man had something to ask him.

Liang Wenyu entered the study room a short while later. "Grandpa, what do you want to know? I will tell you everything I know."

The old man said in a deep voice: "What did your sister do when she went to your company today? Tell us in detail. Don't leave out anything. Tell us everything."

Liang Wenyu thought for a moment and recounted to the old man everything that had happened today, from when Liang Yiyi arrived at the company and was stopped by the front desk, to when she asked about the company's competitors, to when she returned after more than four hours, and finally to when she went home with him that evening. The old man looked thoughtful for a moment, and then asked, "Are you sure there's nothing else?" Suddenly, Liang Wenyu remembered something else: "Oh, right, there's one more thing. I was a little puzzled at the time. After lunch, she pulled me to sit in the chair at the desk, then closed the curtains on the balcony and told me not to open them."

After hearing Liang Wenyu's words, father and son exchanged a glance. Liang Jianjun was about to speak when the old man gave him a look, and Liang Jianjun understood and remained silent. The old man sent Liang Wenyu back to his room to rest, and after closing the study door, he said to Liang Jianjun, "Jianjun, you've given birth to a wonderful daughter!" "Father, you think so too—but how could a seventeen-year-old girl know that someone was planning to take down her second brother?" Liang Jianjun's face still contained a hint of disbelief. He was shocked by his own thoughts and urgently needed his father's confirmation.

"That's pretty close. Yiyi is incredible!" The old man's stern expression faded, his tense body relaxing. "Tomorrow, send a few people to follow the second brother from the shadows and protect him. After all, the second brother isn't as skilled as the eldest brother. Also, don't alert the enemy. Have the eldest brother secretly investigate any suspicious areas near the company. The fewer people who know about this, the better. Try not to use your subordinates. Even if you need to use them, find the most reliable ones." Liang Wenyu wasn't completely incompetent. After all, any child from a military family would practice a few moves, and he spent every winter and summer training in the army. Naturally, his physical fitness was not bad, but compared to Liang Jianjun and Liang Wenlong, it was definitely far inferior. "Yiyi is really amazing. If she really joins the army, she'll be as successful as the eldest brother. Maybe even..." The old man stopped talking at this point, but Liang Jianjun understood what he meant. The old man thought too highly of Liang Yiyi. "Don't stop Yi Yi from doing anything in the future, and support her with all your strength. Didn't she say she was going to the army during the summer vacation? Find the best soldier to lead her and be as strict as possible. Don't feel sorry for the child. The stricter you are with her now, the greater her achievements will be in the future." The old man said with a look of satisfaction and determination.

"Father, how could Yiyi have changed so much? She's like two different people. Sometimes I even doubt if she's still my daughter." A hint of confusion crossed Liang Jianjun's eyes. This feeling wasn't new; it had been there for a long time. He couldn't understand how a single hospital stay could change someone so dramatically.

The old man looked at his son with a look of disappointment. "She's changed for the better, and you're not happy about it? You're so busy all day, you don't know what's been going on in the compound lately. The two Zhang children, Liangzi, and the others have changed so much lately. Do you know who brought them about? It's Yiyi. If they weren't about to take the college entrance exams, they would have brought their children home to thank Yiyi. People say we raised a good child, that I have a wonderful granddaughter. Others are jealous of your good fortune, but you're being pretentious." The old man sighed. "Children raised in a family like ours can be allowed to have moments of confusion, but sooner or later they will have to shoulder their own responsibilities. We should be thankful that Yiyi has come to her senses so early. Are you happy only if she grows up to be like your sister's children?" Liang Jianjun thought for a moment, then shuddered. He immediately came to his senses. If Yiyi grew up like Wang Xiaoping, he would want to die.

The father and son chatted in the study for a while before they went their separate ways. Liang Jianjun returned to the room and saw his wife still waiting for him, so he asked, "Why aren't you asleep yet? It's so late?" "What did the old man say to you in the study? Why did he take so long?" Ming Huixin asked anxiously. Liang Jianjun knew that his wife must be worried about the three children at home, so he didn't hide it from her and told her roughly what the old man said in the study. "What did Yiyi find out in the company that made her so sensitive? I was scared by Yiyi's reaction tonight. Is it really as serious as you said?" Ming Huixin was uneasy. As a mother, what she hoped most was that her children would be safe and happy, but today she felt that this wish was a bit difficult to realize.

"Don't tell Wenlong and Wenyu. We guess Yiyi may have found out that someone wants to deal with Wenyu, but she is afraid that her family will not let her follow Wenyu if she tells them. That's why she didn't mention it downstairs just now." Before Liang Jianjun finished speaking, Ming Huixin sat up from the bed, "Then how can we let Yiyi follow his second brother in and out? Wouldn't Wenyu be in danger too? No, let Yiyi stay at home tomorrow and don't let her go out again. Who knows if someone will deal with Yiyi again? I can't bear to see anything happen to Yiyi again." "This matter "Son, don't worry about it. Grandpa and I can still see if anything happens to Yi Yi. We were not prepared before, but now no one can touch my children. Don't worry, Grandpa has made arrangements and will never let anything happen to the two children." Ming Huixin wanted to say more, but Liang Jianjun interrupted her: "Don't forget, Yi Yi will leave our protection sooner or later and make her own way in the world. You trapped her at home for such a small matter. What can she achieve in the future? Well, it's getting late, go to bed quickly, otherwise you will have dark circles under your eyes again tomorrow."
