Chapter 13 The Coffin Shop shuhaige.net

Xiaoyue glanced around and saw it was a coffin shop. Several coffins were laid out in the courtyard, some painted red and others unpainted. Xiaoyue thought to herself, "Isn't this the family Ge Erping married into?"

Xiaoyue glanced into the courtyard and saw a man with a limp painting a coffin red. Perhaps noticing Xiaoyue watching him, he looked up and met her gaze. Indeed, although she had never been to his family's coffin shop in her previous life, Xiaoyue had seen a groom who looked exactly like this when he came to fetch his bride.

Ge Erping turned around and called out, "Hurry up," then whispered in Xiaoyue's ear, "Let's go quickly, this place is creepy, it gives me goosebumps." Xiaoyue glanced at the courtyard again and then followed Ge Erping.

After passing the coffin shop, you reach the main road of Hejia Town. To the north, there is a shop selling farm tools.

Xiaoyue patted her pockets, wanting to go into the farm tool shop to buy some household items.

When Xiaoyue reached into her pocket, she was shocked to find that the silver had fallen out without her noticing.

Xiaoyue didn't say anything either, silently following behind Ge Erping. As they walked, Ge Erping acted as Xiaoyue's guide: "This is the market for buying carriages and horses. Today is not the market day, so there is no one in the area."

Further south, there are cosmetics shops, large restaurants, small eateries, and hardware stores. In the most conspicuous place, there is a sign that reads: Xingfei Fabrics. Ge Erping pointed to the signboard and said, "That's the shop of Young Master Yun's maternal grandmother."

"Want to come in and sit down? Didn't he say he was coming to treat you to a big meal?" Ge Erping said sourly.

Xiaoyue walked straight past without stopping. Two shops away was the grain store. She also saw shops selling seasonings and rapeseed when she was about to leave the town to the south.

Xiaoyue didn't see any stalls.

"Why is there nothing for sale in town?" Xiaoyue asked Ge Erping.

"People won't go to the market until the third, sixth, or ninth day of the lunar month. That's when people will bring their goods to town to sell," Ge Erping said arrogantly to Xiaoyue.

Xiaoyue had no interest in Ge Erping's arrogance; she was only focused on going back to find her lost silver.

Once outside town, Xiaoyue asked Xiaoping, "How long will it take us to get home?"

"According to the villagers, it takes an hour to walk there." "Third Brother didn't take you this way, how come you don't know anything?" Xiaoyue ignored Ge Erping. Could she say that Ge Sanlin rode her back from the county?

After leaving the town, you have to climb a small hill. There are no houses for five or six miles up and down the hill. Ge Erping used to take an oxcart to the town, but he never walked back.

They started walking quite fast, but after walking five or six miles, they reached the uphill section. At that point, Ge Erping gave up and refused to walk any further. He was only thinking of waiting for an oxcart to pass by so he could give them a ride.

Xiaoyue, tired from walking, slowly sat down next to Ge Erping, sighed, and said to him, "We're two young women, and we can't see anyone here, going up and down the slope. Aren't you scared?"

Ge Erping stared at Xiaoyue with his small, triangular eyes: "What are you afraid of? What's there to be afraid of?"

Xiaoyue felt she had rested enough, so she tried to help Ge Erping up, but Ge Erping stubbornly refused to move.

Xiaoyue stood up and looked at the woods on both sides, with only this one road in the middle. The more she looked, the more frightened she became. Suddenly, she saw a figure coming towards them from behind. She didn't know if it was coming towards them on purpose or if it was coming home after finishing some business in town.

Xiaoyue hurriedly urged Ge Erping, "Get up and take a look, someone's coming over there. See if you recognize them?"

Ge Erping lazily stood up, looked back, but couldn't see anything clearly from that distance. He sat down again, which made Xiaoyue anxious; she really wanted to beat him up. She said in an unfriendly tone, "Are you leaving or not? If not, I'm leaving. Those two don't look like good people at all!"

Ge Erping said, "Go, go, I'm not leaving."

Xiaoyue suppressed her anger and said to Ge Erping, "We still haven't met anyone by nightfall. There are trees on both sides of the road. Who knows what might have run out?"

Startled by Xiao's words, Ge Erping was also a little frightened. He got up slowly, dusting himself off. Xiaoyue saw that the people behind him were getting closer; they were two men. Xiaoyue wanted to find a stone, but the dirt road was all dirt, so she didn't care and grabbed two handfuls of dirt.

Seeing Xiaoyue's behavior, Ge Erping couldn't help but sneer, "Xiaoyue, what are you up to now?"

"Just in case." Xiaoyue walked quickly, but Ge Erping kept dragging her along, so slowly that it was driving her crazy, but she couldn't leave Ge Erping behind.

The two people behind her had already arrived. Xiaoyue leaned to one side, but Ge Erping was completely oblivious and continued walking slowly.

The two people behind them bypassed Xiaoyue and her companion and walked straight past. Xiaoyue breathed a sigh of relief, but before she could fully relax, the two people walked a short distance forward and then returned.

"Girls, you two are walking by yourselves, aren't you lonely? How about we accompany you for a while?" Xiaoyue hid and didn't say a word.

Ge Erping started shouting, "Catch the bad guys! Catch the bad guys!" and then he started crying.

The tall man glared angrily at Ge Erping: "What are you calling a ghost for?"

Ge Erping screamed again in fright. The tall man grabbed Ge Erping's neck tightly with a fierce aura and said coldly, "Behave yourself. Otherwise, I'll kill you first."

Ge Erping trembled like a leaf, and Xiaoyue saw a liquid flowing out from Ge Erping's lower body.

Xiaoyue glanced sideways at Ge Erping, while also being wary of the short man in front of her. His face was covered in pustules, and he had a lewd look in his eyes. He reached out with both hands to touch Xiaoyue's face. Xiaoyue took a few steps back, and the short man followed closely behind.

At this moment, Ge Erping screamed again. She scratched the tall man with her claws, leaving four bloody marks. The man slapped her across the face, and her face immediately swelled up. Ge Erping was spun around by the slap and fell on the road.

Just then, Xiaoyue saw the short man looking in Ge Erping's direction. Seizing the opportunity, she threw a handful of dirt at the man's face and kicked him hard in the groin. The short man immediately bent over in pain, and Xiaoyue took the opportunity to run towards Ge Erping.

Bending down quickly, Xiaoyue picked up a tree branch from the roadside. Just as the tall man was about to bend down and tear Ge Erping's clothes, Xiaoyue grabbed the branch and swung it at the tall man's head.

The man who was slapped covered his head. The tall man immediately turned around and snarled at Xiaoyue. Ge Erping watched as the tall man chased after Xiaoyue and hurriedly ran towards the village as fast as he could.

Xiaoyue was quickly caught up by the man. He grabbed the stick in Xiaoyue's hand and pulled, causing her to let go of the stick. Xiaoyue was so anxious that she ran desperately into the mountains.

As she ran, she tried to find a dense thicket to hide in, or even a cave, but Xiaoyue grew increasingly desperate. The grass on the ground was sparse, and the trees were thin, so there was nowhere to hide.

Xiaoyue was running when she suddenly heard voices "Ah, ah" ahead. She didn't have time to think about how strange the voices were; she was only focused on escaping. As she ran over the hillside, she saw a man, his upper body bare, struggling vigorously. His wheat-colored back was covered in sweat, revealing his muscular physique. A woman was beneath him, moaning "Ah, ah..." with gusto. Both of them were lost in their own world.
