Chapter 398: Rival

"Well, Ren Zhongyuan, hello!" Zhou Yuanyuan nodded and smiled broadly when she saw that it was the son of her old acquaintance Ren Dahai.

Ren Zhongyuan is the son of Ren Dahai, the head of the Guards Regiment, and a good friend of Zhou Jiasheng. Ren Dahai is still the head of the Guards Regiment, but his rank has been raised to senior colonel.

When Ren Zhongyuan arrived at Kyoto City for school, the first person he met was Zhou Jiasheng. Although he and his sister Zhou Yuanyuan didn't spend much time living in the Guards Regiment's family housing complex, they developed a close relationship with their peers. Zhou Jiasheng's fighting prowess was unstoppable, and even those four or five years his senior couldn't stand up to him in a fight. Military children valued strength, and Zhou Jiasheng's martial prowess earned him a prominent position among the children in the complex.

As for Zhou Yuanyuan, her popularity stemmed from her beauty. Though the children in the residential building were young, they all shared a common appreciation for beauty. Sometimes, the little brats would fight over who Zhou Yuanyuan had spoken to more than once. Zhou Jiasheng, on the other hand, would be the one to beat up any brat who even glanced at his sister.

Ren Zhongyuan was an exception. Zhou Jiasheng and his sister had a close relationship with him. When he first arrived in Kyoto, he was somewhat timid and easily frightened. He was significantly shorter than his peers and had a poor appetite, only able to eat half a bowl of rice at a meal. Any more would cause him to have indigestion.

Ren Dahai and Chen Qiuyu were both very worried. Ren Dahai was a burly man, about 5 feet 4 inches tall, and Chen Qiuyu was about 5 feet 4 inches tall, which was considered tall for a woman. Their child should have grown up stronger than his peers.

Chen Qiuyu heard that Zhao Qingshan was a doctor at Renhe Hospital and took her child to see him. After a careful examination, Zhao Qingshan found that Ren Zhongyuan's digestive disorder was caused by a shock he had suffered as a child.

Chen Qiuyu's face was grim at the time, but he didn't say why. Zhao Qingshan wasn't one to get involved, and remembering that Ren Zhongyuan had grown up in the countryside with his grandparents, he tactfully didn't ask any further questions.

After Zhao Qingshan's meticulous treatment, Ren Zhongyuan's digestive function improved two years ago. After regaining his ability to eat and drink, Ren Zhongyuan's height grew significantly, now standing at around 1.6 meters, making him a bit taller than his peers. Over the past few years, his medical treatment has allowed him to visit Zhao Qingshan's home more frequently, and he's become close friends with Zhou Yuanyuan and her siblings.

When Ren Zhongyuan first started elementary school, he was in the same class as Zhou Jiasheng. Because of his timid nature and short stature, Ren Zhongyuan was a target of bullying. Zhou Jiasheng, on the other hand, was a troublemaker at school, and because he was a good student, many people didn't dare mess with him. Ren Zhongyuan was Zhou Jiasheng's best friend, and Zhou Jiasheng couldn't stand to see him being bullied. Whenever someone picked on Ren Zhongyuan, Zhou Jiasheng would beat them to a pulp. Over time, Ren Zhongyuan became someone others didn't dare mess with.

Zhou Jiasheng skipped a grade and went to university, while Ren Zhongyuan studied step by step and is still a junior high school student this year.

During the summer vacation, Zhou Yuanyuan stayed with Zhao Qingshan all the time and rarely went back to the family building. In fact, Zhou Yuanyuan and Ren Zhongyuan hadn't seen each other for two months.

Ren Zhongyuan was always amazed every time he saw Zhou Yuanyuan. As she grew older, Zhou Yuanyuan's appearance became more and more refined, and her smooth skin with no visible pores made her stunning no matter how you looked at her.

"Hmph! Vixen! You seduce every man you see." Ren Zhongyuan was chatting with Zhou Yuanyuan when a sarcastic voice rang out beside them.

Zhou Yuanyuan looked closely and found that it was her old rival He Jingjing.

He Jingjing's height has barely changed in recent years. She's three years older than Zhou Yuanyuan, yet still half a head shorter. Furthermore, He Jingjing's complexion seems unwell, pale with a hint of gray.

Zhou Yuanyuan took one look and then looked away. She was really impatient with He Jingjing. She didn't understand when she had offended He Jingjing, so every time He Jingjing saw her, she would either glare at her or say something sour. It was so boring!

"I was right, wasn't I? You don't dare to refute me? Vixen!" He Jingjing gritted her teeth as she uttered the last three words. After being in the same class with Zhou Yuanyuan for a year, He Jingjing had only just discovered how popular she was among her classmates. Humph! Those little brats were blind bastards. Instead of pursuing a beauty like her, they were flattering Zhou Yuanyuan!

"Tsk~!" Zhou Yuanyuan sneered and cursed, "You're crazy!"

A vixen? Zhou Yuanyuan's family did have one. However, that vixen wasn't entirely devoted to her duties. Not only did she not seduce anyone, but she also worked tirelessly at the beck and call of Zhou Yuanyuan's mother, Zhao Yunxiang. The chief designer of the "Yunyun" brand was none other than the authentic vixen, Hu Sanniang.

"What? Zhou Yuanyuan, you dare to scold me? Let's go see the teacher and let the teacher judge whether a student like you should stay in Chaoyang Middle School to continue studying?" He Jingjing was excited now and reached out to pull Zhou Yuanyuan to the teacher's office.

He Jingjing has disliked Zhou Yuanyuan for a long time. She has always wanted to deal with Zhou Yuanyuan, but unfortunately she has never been able to find any evidence against her.

Six years ago, He Jingjing awoke after a year and a half in a coma. Upon waking, she was completely weakened. The He family took her to see renowned doctors across China, but none could find the cause of her illness. Finally, He Shumin, the head of the He family, decided to send He Jingjing to the United States for recuperation.

After He Jingjing returned to Country M, her health gradually improved. In the eyes of her family, she was still a child, and no one would tell her about the changes happening back home. Therefore, even after more than a year since she returned to China, no one ever mentioned to her that Zhou Yuanyuan was General Zhou's great-granddaughter. In He Jingjing's mind, Zhou Yuanyuan was just a country girl who had just arrived in Kyoto a few years ago.

He Jingjing and Zhou Yuanyuan were in the same class for the same year, and she had been targeting Zhou Yuanyuan all day. Zhou Yuanyuan had seen He Jingjing's bizarre thoughts many times, so when she saw He Jingjing reaching out to pull her, she took a step back, avoiding He Jingjing's hand.

If they hadn't happened right at the school gate, Zhou Yuanyuan would have wanted to teach this weirdo He Jingjing a lesson.

"He Jingjing, don't bully others. You come here and insult people. Yuanyuan ignored you." Seeing He Jingjing's attitude, Ren Zhongyuan subconsciously stepped forward and stood in front of Zhou Yuanyuan.

"Hehehe, Zhou Yuanyuan, I didn't expect you to have so many flower protectors? I wonder if Brother Ziqing knows about your fickle character?" Seeing Ren Zhongyuan's posture of protecting Zhou Yuanyuan, He Jingjing felt sour and hateful!
