Zhou Zhiqiang knew Gu Dahua's character. She was a sharp-tongued person who spoke without thinking, and secretly wished her sisters-in-law were inferior to her. Over the years, Zhou Zhiqiang had been the worst off of the three Zhou brothers, and along with Gu Dahua and their two children, they couldn't hold their heads up in front of the eldest wife.
But even if you're dissatisfied, how can you show it? Zhou Zhiqiang thought, my eldest brother and his wife are husband and wife. They fight at the head of the bed and make up at the foot of the bed. If this stubborn woman in my family is now mocking his wife, won't she cause trouble for them when my eldest brother and his wife reconcile?
Don’t say that the most cunning among the three brothers of the Zhou family is Zhou Zhiqiang. He has his own skills to be able to squeeze money out of someone as stingy as Wu Jinfeng.
"Chunjiao, you have grown up, but how can you pick a man's pocket? As a woman, you should accept the money a man gives you, but you should not do such shameless things." When Wu Jinfeng heard Zhou Zhigang talking about Li Chunjiao picking his pockets, she felt a little guilty, but she spoke with great righteousness.
Wu Jinfeng was quite adept at picking through her husband's pockets. Every few days, she would find a way to see if there was any money in Zhou Chunping's pockets, and how much money he had.
If Zhou Chunping had a lot of money in his pocket and kept it in a disorderly manner, it would not be uncommon for Wu Jinfeng to take a dime or two.
Wu Jinfeng didn't take the extra money, not because she didn't want to, but because she didn't dare. Zhou Chunping was a shrewd man, and he might not notice if a dime or two was missing, but if a dollar was missing, Zhou Chunping would definitely notice.
"Mom, I didn't do that. I haven't even seen Zhigang's clothes, how could I have picked his pockets?" Li Chunjiao felt like she was being wronged to death. Zhou Zhigang had lost his temper at her early in the morning, and now even his mother-in-law was scolding her.
"Clothes? What clothes?" Wu Jinfeng was stunned and asked.
"I wore the grey coat yesterday just one day ago, and I don't know where this woman took it." Zhou Zhigang's anger gradually subsided, and he told Wu Jinfeng the cause of the incident.
"I'll wash the clothes," Wu Jinfeng said, stunned, finally realizing what was happening. Late last night, Wu Jinfeng had come up with a good idea for punishing Zhao Yunxiang, so she got up and ran to her two sons' homes to collect their dirty clothes. Seeing her sons, daughters-in-law, and children sound asleep, Wu Jinfeng didn't wake them, but instead left with the pile of clothes beside their beds.
Could it be that Dabao was angry because the dress from yesterday was missing? She had done this before! Wu Jinfeng realized it later.
"Mom, when did you take it?" Zhou Zhigang opened his eyes wide.
"Last night, Mom saw you were sleeping soundly, so she didn't wake you up, hehe... hehe..." Wu Jinfeng laughed awkwardly. She didn't expect that her eldest daughter-in-law would be beaten so early in the morning, and it was all her fault.
Zhou Zhigang was nearly vomiting blood at his mother's rage. This life was unbearable. Why was she running into their room to get clothes in the middle of the night, not even asleep? He woke up early this morning and didn't see the coat, thinking Li Chunjiao had known something.
"Oh my god, you can just let your wives do the heavy work like washing clothes, why do you have to trouble yourself..." Zhou Zhigang complained.
Before Zhou Zhigang finished speaking, Wu Jinfeng was moved by her son's thoughtfulness and burst into tears. Wu Jinfeng raised one hand and wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes with her sleeve, saying, "Dabao, I know you care about me, so I won't tire myself out. That troublemaker is washing your clothes!"
"What?!" Zhou Zhigang was suddenly struck by lightning. He knew that the "troublemaker" Wu Jinfeng was referring to was Zhao Yunxiang, his third brother's wife. Thinking of his coat in Zhao Yunxiang's hands, he wondered if she had discovered the secret in the pocket. Zhou Zhigang really wanted to die.
"Why are you so startled? She is my daughter-in-law. Can't I ask her to do something?" When talking about Zhao Yunxiang, Wu Jinfeng returned to the look of that arrogant and mean old woman.
"Mom, my third brother is not at home. It's not a good idea for you to order her around like this!" Zhou Zhigang persuaded tactfully, trying to make Wu Jinfeng change her mind.
"It's only natural for a mother-in-law to boss her daughter-in-law around." Wu Jinfeng was unhappy and glared at Li Chunjiao and Gu Dahua with a sidelong glance, her eyes showing no disdain for the daughters-in-law. Li Chunjiao and Gu Dahua shrank back under Wu Jinfeng's sharp gaze, and Wu Jinfeng turned her head away with satisfaction.
Seeing that he couldn't convince Wu Jinfeng, Zhou Zhigang stopped talking and rushed to the backyard anxiously.
In the backyard, Zhao Yunxiang was still washing clothes in the basin. The basin was full of dirty clothes, and only a few pieces were left.
Zhou Zhigang rushed to the well and saw his gray coat lying at the bottom of the basin. It seemed that Zhao Yunxiang had not washed it yet.
Zhou Zhigang sighed deeply, rushed forward, and scooped up the soaked jacket. Suddenly, dirty water dripped down, splashing all over Zhao Yunxiang's face.
Zhao Yunxiang was caught off guard and a few drops of soapy water splashed into her eyes. The stinging pain made Zhao Yunxiang close her eyes and then cover them with her sleeve.
Zhou Zhigang was startled, remembering that his previous action was too rough, and was about to help Zhao Yunxiang, who was squatting and a little wobbly.
From the corner of his eye, he saw Li Chunjiao, Gu Dahua and a group of people chasing after him along the corridor.
Zhou Zhigang got anxious and withdrew his hand from supporting Zhao Yunxiang. He quickly took out a small ball of cloth from the bag of dirty clothes and stuffed it into the pocket of his own clothes.
Zhou Zhigang looked down at himself. His winter coat was a bit too big, and even with the ball of cloth stuffed in, it didn't make any difference. Zhou Zhigang smiled with satisfaction, but then he remembered Li Chunjiao who was about to come in, and the smile on his face suddenly turned into a frosty face.
Zhao Yunxiang couldn't keep her balance and fell on her butt.
"Mom, mom, what's wrong with you?" In the small kitchen, Zhou Yuanyuan and Zhou Jiasheng were busy preparing porridge. Seeing Zhao Yunxiang fall, they hurriedly put down the firewood and rice bucket in their hands and rushed out.
The door of the small kitchen faced the backyard. Zhou Yuanyuan and Zhou Jiasheng ran fast. When they stood next to Zhao Yunxiang, Li Chunjiao and Gu Dahua and their group walked into the backyard.
"Uncle, why did you hit my mom?" Zhou Yuanyuan cried, kicking Zhou Zhigang hard. She had a keen eye and saw him taking something out and putting it in. Although she didn't see clearly what it was, she was sure it was something shameful, otherwise Zhou Zhigang wouldn't be so nervous.
"No, I didn't." Zhou Zhigang waved his hand and staggered back a long step. How could he hit Yunxiang? Seeing Yunxiang suffer, his heart ached more than anyone else's.
Hiss~ Yuanyuan is such a strong kid, that kick hurt him right to the bone.
