"Naturally, he'll look like me later. His name is Shi Xiaobao, and he's got a tiger-headed and chubby face."
When talking about his son, Shi Junjie's face lit up with a smile. No matter how hard he works, he doesn't feel tired because he has a wife and child. Seeing them makes all his hardships disappear. He wants to give his family the best life, and that is his motivation.
The niece also put on a smile, looking forward to meeting her grandson. Even if she didn't like Gao Shengnan, she had no problem with her grandson. Besides, she didn't hate Gao Shengnan that much anymore; she just didn't say it out loud.
After Shi Junjie left, Gao Shengnan lost her appetite, worried that her mother-in-law still disliked her as before. In the past, she would have been indifferent; if others didn't like her, she wouldn't like them either, and she wouldn't pay any attention to them.
But now her heart has softened. She wants to get along well with Shi Junjie's parents and doesn't want things to remain at an impasse, which would put Shi Junjie in a very difficult position.
“It’s alright. With such a wonderful grandson, how could your mother-in-law not like him?” Mao Fangfei reassured her.
Fang Yanming agreed, "My cousin keeps talking about wanting to hold her grandson, and the baby is so cute, she'll definitely love him."
Shi Xiaobao, who was focused on eating his vegetables, looked up in confusion when he heard his name called. There was still a grain of rice on the corner of his mouth, and his chubby face was covered in oil. He looked like a miniature version of Shi Junjie. But when he sat next to Gao Shengnan, the mother and son looked quite alike.
Blood ties are truly the most wondrous thing in the world.
"Xiaobao, Grandma's coming soon, so you need to be nice to her, okay?" Gao Shengnan wiped her son's face.
Where is Grandma?
Shi Xiaobao was even more confused. All his classmates had grandmothers, but he didn't. He thought that there was no such thing as a grandmother in his family.
"You're coming soon. Grandma likes you very much, and you should like Grandma too."
Shi Xiaobao blinked and nodded obediently. In fact, he didn't understand what his mother meant. He had no concept of his grandmother at all. However, he was a good child who listened to his mother and would listen to whatever she said.
The doorbell rang, and Gao Shengnan's heart started racing. She felt a little uneasy, even when facing the most difficult clients. However, she quickly calmed down and ran to open the door.
Standing behind Shi Junjie, the cousin saw Gao Shengnan, who was even more beautiful than six years ago. She wanted to smile, but couldn't bring herself to do it, so she awkwardly forced a smile as a greeting.
"Mom, come inside quickly."
Gao Shengnan hesitated for a moment before calling out "Mom," and once she said it, it didn't feel so awkward anymore.
Seeing the luxurious decoration of the house, my cousin's eyes were dazzled. Just like Grandma Liu visiting the Grand View Garden, everything was new and exciting. Shi Xiaobao walked over and looked at my cousin curiously, tilting his head and looking chubby.
"Mom, is she Grandma?"
The baby's sweet, childlike voice immediately touched his niece's heart. She stared at the baby without blinking, too excited to speak. She knew without a doubt that this was her grandson, who looked exactly like her eldest son when he was a child, as if they were made from the same mold.
But Xiao Bao is much more stylish. When his eldest son was little, he was all drab and didn't dress as fashionably. His daughter-in-law is really good at raising children. She raised her eldest grandson so well. He is polite and sensible, and much better looking than the children in the village.
“Call me Grandma, Xiao Bao,” Gao Shengnan said with a smile.
His niece looked at her grandson expectantly. Xiao Bao sized her up for a while. Perhaps it was the strange bond of blood, but Xiao Bao didn't reject his niece. He even felt a sense of affection for her. Without hesitation, he called out, "Grandma!"
