Chapter 228 The Laboratory of Little Days

Ye Yunxi and Fu Heng and the others walked towards the back mountain that Chief Li had pointed out to them.

The back mountain is the village behind the Li clan chief's house, at the foot of the mountain.

It was simply a fence made of wood that enclosed the back of the village.

They went through the fence and headed up the mountain.

Ye Yunxi looked up at the mountain. Chief Li had said that there were two forks in the road halfway up the mountain. He told them to go to the left and keep going for about forty minutes to reach the mountain.

They went up the mountain, where there were many wild grasses growing lushly, but not many trees.

Fu Heng led the way, followed by Ye Yunxi, then Zhang Jing, Chen Zhe, and Xuan Yu.

They walked for about ten minutes until they reached a fork in the road, where they turned left.

They didn't say a word the whole way, keeping a wary eye on their surroundings, afraid that wild wolves might come.

But it turned out that there were indeed wolves following them, but they were far away and Ye Yunxi and the others didn't notice them.

Ye Yunxi and the others walked for another forty minutes and reached the mountainside of another mountain.

Fu Heng told everyone to rest for a while and then go up the mountain later.

Ye Yunxi found a spot to sit down and rest. She took out a bottle of water from her backpack and slowly began to drink it.

Fu Heng looked around, sat down next to Ye Yunxi, and asked her.

"Xixi, are you tired?"

Ye Yunxi shook her head. "I'm fine. Let's rest for a bit and then we'll set off."

"Okay, whatever you say."

Ye Yunxi handed the water to Fu Heng, then looked around at her surroundings.

Chen Zhe took a sip of water and said.

“We’ve been walking for half a day, how come we haven’t seen any wild game? If we did come across some, we could hunt a few and take them back to roast and have a nice meal.”

Zhang Jing laughed and said, "All you care about is food. We're not here for fun, how could we possibly encounter any wild game?"

Chen Zhe muttered to himself, "I don't know anything about food, and I know I'm here to do something, but all I do is criticize me."

Hearing Chen Zhe's mutterings, Zhang Jing said to him seriously.

"What did you say? Say it again if you dare!"

Chen Zhe immediately begged for mercy. "I won't do it again, I was wrong!"

Ye Yunxi watched them playfully bickering, and the corners of her mouth turned up slightly.

Chen Zhe also has times when he needs to be managed, which isn't so bad. Both of them have lost their families, but now that they have each other, living together is quite nice.

After they rested for a while, Fuheng told everyone to set off.

They walked up the mountain for a while before they saw the entrance to the cave.

The cave entrance was quite large, so Ye Yunxi and the others went over and began to observe it from the entrance.

They saw nothing and were about to walk inside when Fuheng said to them.

"Take out your flashlights and don't forget your weapons. Be careful once you're inside."

Immediately afterwards, Ye Yunxi and the others took out flashlights and weapons from their backpacks.

Several people slowly entered the cave with flashlights in hand.

The first thing I saw was an iron gate, which was rusty and locked when I shone a flashlight on it. It looked like it hadn't been here in a long time.

They walked a little further in and saw several iron gates, none of which were locked. Fu Heng kicked one of the iron gates open and shone his flashlight inside.

Apart from a few tables and chairs, there was nothing else.

Continuing inside, we arrived at what appeared to be a large hall. Inside, there were four interconnected routes, but we didn't know where they all led.

Ye Yunxi looked at Fu Heng and asked him.

"Aheng, which way do we go?"

Fu Heng looked at the four roads and said.

“Splitting up is impossible. We don’t know what dangers are here. Let’s just choose a path for now. Let’s take the first path on the right. If there’s no path, we can come back here.”

"Alright, let's go then!"

They walked slowly and cautiously, seeing rows of iron gates, most of which were open, and inside were bunk beds.

It turned out that this was a resting area, so they returned to the lobby.

Take the second path on the right; this is also a rest area. Then return to the lobby.

They took the left-hand path this time. There were several iron gates here, which were closed but not locked.

Fu Heng, Xuan Yu, and Chen Zhe each took a metal door and kicked it open.

Ye Yunxi looked inside and saw a laboratory. She went in and saw that the tables and shelves were full of medicine bottles.

There was also a machine used for conducting experiments nearby.

Ye Yunxi picked up the medicine bottle on the table and looked at the label.

So this is Xiao Rizi's laboratory. No wonder it looked familiar. I just remembered that there was a similar place when I went to the Fifth Base before.

“Aheng, look, this cave is Xiao Rizi’s laboratory. It looks like it has been abandoned for a while.”

Chen Zhe and Zhang Jing quickly picked up the medicines on the shelf to take a look, and it turned out to be something for everyday use.

"This guy is really inhuman. He has to come all the way to our country Z to do an experiment."

Ye Yunxi didn't say anything, she just watched quietly.

Finding nothing more to see, they returned to the hall they had just been in and headed down another path.

There were several laboratories along this road. They retreated and found that there was another staircase leading down.

The group exchanged glances and decided to take a look.

As they descended, the wolves that had been following them quietly approached the cave entrance. They sniffed around as they went, slowly making their way into the cave.

Ye Yunxi and the others went down the stairs to a large hall, which was also a laboratory, only it was larger.

There were many medicine bottles on the table and shelves, a glass box against the wall containing a green liquid, and three sets of experimental equipment.

Then we went to another place. This place looked like a dungeon.

There were five iron cages inside, containing dead people and animal carcasses; the scene was very bloody.

Zhang Jing couldn't stand it and ran to the side to vomit.

Chen Zhe patted her back and took out some water from his bag for her to drink.

Seeing this scene, Ye Yunxi frowned deeply. She never expected that these despicable people would not only use humans for experiments, but also animals. Moreover, these animals were from their own country. It was utterly hateful.

After Zhang Jing finished vomiting, she walked over and stood next to Ye Yunxi.

Ye Yunxi asked with concern, "Are you alright?"

Zhang Jing shook her head. "It's nothing, I'm just a little uncomfortable with this scene."

Just as Ye Yunxi was about to say something, Fu Heng gestured for them to be quiet and pointed to the stairwell.

Ye Yunxi and the others held their breath and raised their pistols, pointing them at the stairwell.

Several wolves slowly came down the stairs.

When Ye Yunxi and the others got a clear look, they realized these were wild wolves! How did these wolves get here? Weren't they on another mountain? Did they follow us all the way here?

Several wolves came down and stood opposite Ye Yunxi and the others, looking at them fiercely.

One of the wolves gave the order, and the other wolves split into two groups and surged forward, intending to surround Ye Yunxi and the others before launching an attack.
