Chapter 56 The Scented Stone

Lacking interest in the fish in the sea, Chen Hong now only wants to find a suitable place to dive before returning to port, so she can swim freely in the seabed for a while, regardless of whether she can have a good catch. Even picking up trash is something Chen Hong enjoys.

Now, Chen Hong is increasingly enjoying diving. Swimming with fish and shrimp on the seabed is incredibly interesting to her. The closer she gets to the ocean, the more she realizes how much she doesn't know. Whenever she discovers something unfamiliar on the seabed, Chen Hong takes the time to search for information online.

This has made her, like a primary school student, wildly passionate about learning about the ocean. Every creature in the sea has its own characteristics and properties; it is an infinitely vast and unknown world.

Chen Hong steered the boat along the path of one ocean current for an hour until he spotted a small island. The current there merged with another, but was blocked by the island. The two currents merged to form a new current that flowed along the left-hand bend of the island.

Upon approaching, Chen Hong noticed no signs that the island had ever been there. After securing the boat's mooring lines, Chen Hong boarded the island. This island was quite interesting; the rocks on its right side were littered with trash, brought by two ocean currents that had stopped at the island.

The left side is very clean, it seems that a lot of trash has been carried away by the ocean currents to wander to even more distant places.

Chen Hong looked around; there were no boats or people. She took out her small iron rake and started working, picking through the garbage along the garbage belt. It was filthy and smelly, so Chen Hong quickly put on a mask to mask some of the odor.

Chen Hong had been collecting for over an hour. Seeing that it was getting late, she prepared to go back and come back to collect more later when she had time. She put the iron rake into her spatial storage, took off her mask, and was about to return to the ship when she suddenly smelled a peculiar odor.

It was an indescribable smell, both fragrant and slightly fishy. Chen Hong paused, thinking of two possibilities: one, she'd struck it rich! Two, what bad luck!

She prayed silently in her heart, wondering if a single woman like herself would be particularly unlucky. After all, she was a reborn person favored by fate!

She then took out an iron rake and carefully walked to a pile of tattered clothes. Little by little, she carefully used the rake to peel back the tattered cloth. When all the cloth was peeled back, revealing what was inside, Chen Hong smiled.

Heaven has been kind to me; thankfully, it's not some nameless corpse. Chen Hong squatted down and picked up the stone, which looked like a piece of quicklime, with her gloved hand.

I held it in my hand and weighed it. Apart from having a strange fragrance, it really did look a bit like quicklime used in construction. It was white with a hint of light gray in color, weighed about six or seven pounds, and was quite large.

I took out a sealed bag from my spatial storage, put the five or six-pound stone into the bag, sealed it, and stored it in my spatial storage. It's getting late; I'll study it when I get home.

Chen Hong happily returned to the boat and sailed home. When she arrived at the dock, Uncle Erhu and his family of three were waiting for her. She dropped the anchor, tied the ropes, set up the footboard, and helped the three of them onto the boat. Then, they began to sort and prepare their catch.

Chen Hong called Zhang Baiqiang and Liu Quantian respectively, and said that they would arrive at the dock in an hour.

Chen Hong and Uncle Erhu, along with their family, sorted and arranged the fish. After they had finished sorting all the fish, Zhang Baiqiang and Liu Quantian arrived with their men.

After they had packed their catch, weighed it, and settled the bill, they immediately left with their entourage. Chen Hong had another successful day.

Chen Hong transferred 150 yuan to Uncle Erhu for the wages of the three men and the money for cleaning the fishing nets. Chen Hong also gave Aunt Erhu two mackerel. After cleaning the fishing boat, the three men pushed the fishing nets they had used that day and went home.

After they left, Chen Hong packed up her things, loaded a large box of trash onto the tricycle, and drove it to the trash cans. She cleaned up the marine debris before going home. Upon entering the house, she saw Yu Yang doing his craft homework.

Chen Hong asked her son, "Xiao Bao, where's your grandpa? Why are you home alone?" Yu Yang replied to his mother, "My grandpa went back to the old house, and my dad came back today."

Chen Hong nodded: "Oh, I see. What do you want to eat tonight? Mom will make it for you."

"Mom, you can make whatever you want. Everything you make is delicious, and I like it all."

Chen Hong smiled, "My son is so good, he always knows how to make his mother happy. Tonight, let's cook some millet porridge, steam a big lobster, stir-fry some dried shrimp with bok choy, and our pickled green beans are ready. We'll also stir-fry some pickled green beans with minced meat. Do you like these dishes?"

Yu Yang smiled, "I really like pickled green beans, Mom, you go make them!"

Chen Hong went into the kitchen, first started cooking millet porridge, then took out a three-pound lobster, placed it in a large iron basin, and scrubbed it clean with a brush. She added water to a large pot, placed a steamer basket on it, and steamed the lobster.

I took a handful of pickled green beans from the pickling jar, washed them, and cut them into sections. I also took a piece of lean meat and diced it. I went to the backyard vegetable garden and picked a handful of chili peppers and a few bok choy plants. I went back to the kitchen, washed them, and chopped the garlic, ginger, and chili peppers into minced pieces. I then prepared a dipping sauce for the lobster.

The lobster was ready, so Chen Hong served it and the sauce first. Next, she made braised bok choy with dried shrimp and stir-fried minced meat and pickled green beans. She took out two steamed buns, and once the millet porridge was cooked, Chen Hong called Yu Yang to wash his hands and eat.

After dinner, Chen Hong cleaned up the kitchen. Yu Yang finished his craft project and started feeding and training the dogs. Now the two dogs have grown up and are almost as tall as Yu Yang when they stand up straight.

Now the two dogs are well-fed and healthy, with shiny coats. When the fan blows on them, they look like they could be in a Head & Shoulders commercial!

The mother and son sat on the sofa watching TV. The series "Soldiers' Assault" had long since ended, and Yu Yang had finished the homework Chen Hong had given him. Regardless of the depth of his answers, Yu Yang's serious attitude towards problem-solving earned his mother's praise. This also fostered in Yu Yang the good habit of summarizing and researching whenever he watches TV or reads.
