Chapter 9 The Ritual of Death

A stench almost made Lin Qian faint, but despite the stench, he was able to defecate quickly.

With incredible speed, its limbs rose up, ready to run away into the distance, before Lin Qian could even get out.

A loud "poof!" sounded beside him.

Seeing the stinking ball of fur beside him, Lin Qian let out a howl and burst into his fastest speed ever.

The cub was so overwhelmed by the stench that it leaped back ten meters.

Then, quite naturally, he followed in Lin Qian's footsteps, clinging to his brother and trying to get away with being cute.

Lin Qian rolled her eyes in disgust, not wanting to pay any attention to this "stinky little brother".

But he didn't push the cub away. At least the little rascal had remembered his teachings and behaved himself this time, not urinating or defecating anywhere, but obediently going to the designated grassy area to poop.

Yes, that's something to be praised for.

Just as the brothers' embarrassing moment had subsided, Tiger Mom darted out in a flash.

Then it made a "poof" sound on the nearby grass.

The two brothers stood there blankly with their fluffy little heads upright, then silently held their breath.

In reality, Tiger Mom's "poof" didn't taste as strong as theirs.

But they held their breath for a moment in tacit agreement, completely unaware that their own poop was the smelliest.

The tiger mother did not bury her feces; tiger feces are always exposed, and the pheromones on them can deter other animals.

When marking their territory, tigers will also spray urine onto tree trunks, the higher the better.

It just goes to show that the big cats' strength simply doesn't allow them to keep a low profile.

Seeing that the cubs were awake, the mother tiger gently growled and called out to them.

Lin Qian quickly grabbed her younger brother and ran over.

Eat your fill and grow tall!

The mother tiger gently lay down to nurse her cubs.

When the tiger mom noticed that one of the furry balls nestled in her arms was missing, she instinctively called out to the surroundings.

A gentle growl sounded, but there was no response.

Tiger Mom paused, then slowly looked down at the bushes not far away.

A wave of sadness rose in her heart, and the tiger mother silently looked down at the two tiger cubs in her arms.

Lin Qian was stunned when he heard Tiger Mom's low growl.

Turning my head, I saw only a fluffy little head lying beside me, and suddenly my heart felt heavy.

Yes, they just lost a "family member," a close relative, who was so young.

Thinking of the dead tiger cub, Lin Qian was suddenly distraught and absent-minded.

He didn't know how the tiger mother disposed of the cubs' bodies, and he didn't dare to think about it.

The cub sensed something and immediately snuggled up to him, lying close together.

The little head leaned in and gently nuzzled Lin Qian.

Those light brown tiger eyes seemed to be saying, "Don't be sad, I'm still here for you."

Lin Qian sensed her younger brother's concern, her little ears twitched, and she stretched her head over to nuzzle the little guy.

This is his only younger brother.

Thinking of this, Lin Qian couldn't help but have an idea: to give the little guy a name.

Why didn't he have this idea before? Because he knew that once the other person had a name, they would be an indelible part of his life.

That's how powerful a name can be.

Lin Qian knew that a tiger's life was a lonely one.

Especially male tigers, after reaching adulthood, leave their mothers and embark on a journey to find their own territory.

From this day forward, my mother, brothers, and sisters will all be just passing through my life.

They may never have the chance to meet again; their existence will only remain in distant memories.

Of course, based on the memory of wild animals, it is highly unlikely that they could remember.

But Lin Qian was different; he remembered it clearly.

So, since it's a relationship destined to end, why leave behind only memories?

But after this brush with death, his feelings for the tiger cub underwent a qualitative change.

He could no longer ignore the importance of the tiger cubs to him, nor could he ignore the maternal love his tiger mother had for him. His tiger mother and her younger brother would undoubtedly leave a deep and lasting impression on his memory.

He could not forget them, even if they would eventually be separated in the future.

Lin Qian could also sense that the young tiger was treating him differently than before.

It's probably because there's no other tiger cub to play with, and Lin Qian saved the little guy's life from the clutches of the red fox, which gave the little guy a sense of security, so the tiger cub is now very close to and dependent on him.

This intimacy was different from before, but Lin Qian couldn't quite put her finger on why.

The thought of the red fox made Lin Qian's heart tighten.

Although he and the cub survived this time, luck played a huge part. If they encountered a similar situation again, they probably wouldn't be so lucky.

The death of the tiger cub and the crisis brought by the red fox taught Lin Qian a profound lesson.
