Chapter 9 The Ritual of Death (shuhaige.net)

After licking for a long time and seeing that Lin Qian still didn't move, the tiger cub simply lay down beside Lin Qian.

Seemingly thinking of the coldness of the dead tiger cub's body, the cub squeezed its little body even tighter.

Feeling the familiar warmth emanating from Lin Qian, the young tiger wagged its little tail happily, its mood returning to some of its former cheerfulness.

Unaware of this while unconscious, Lin Qian's internal organs, which were already ruptured and injured, were now burning hotter and hotter.

An energy was flowing and spreading through his lungs, gradually healing his wounds.

Of course, the tiger cub that was gradually falling asleep beside him was also undergoing miraculous changes, only the cub's changes were much slower.

The grieving tiger mother remained silent for a while, lost in her sorrow, before gently walking over to Lin Qian and the cubs and carrying them into the cave.

The tiger mother looked tenderly at her sleeping cubs, and her grief was somewhat soothed. Her heavy emotions gradually returned to their firmness.

She still has tiger cubs to raise; she cannot afford to be despondent, much less wallow in sorrow.

The tiger mom, having rallied, carefully licked and cleaned Lin Qian's wounds again. She had to take good care of the injured cub until the wounds scabbed over.

She had already lost one of her cubs and couldn't take any more blows.

Although the tiger mother thought Lin Qian was already 'seriously injured,' she would not abandon her cub at this time. She would continue to raise the cub and do her best to take care of it until it truly reached the end of its life.

After licking, Tiger Mom slowly stood up and hesitantly walked towards the cave entrance.

She needed to deal with the dead tiger cub.

The tigress walked to the dead cub, gently lay down, and tenderly licked her child. Then she picked up the cub and slowly walked into the depths of the nearby grass.

When the cubs were placed on the messy grass, the tigress let out another sad whimper.

Seeing the tiger cub's severed throat and the blood congealed on its fur, the mother tiger felt a surge of anger, then dejectedly lowered her head and rubbed against the cub's cold body.

After lying there silently in sorrow for a long time, the tiger mother stood up and, quite unexpectedly, stretched out her forelimbs and began to dig at the ground.

If a zoologist were to witness this action by the tiger mother, they would be greatly astonished.

Because after a tiger cub dies, the mother tiger should eat it; this is the death ritual for a tiger that has died young.

Because the mother tiger doesn't want her cubs to be eaten by other animals.

But Tiger Mom didn't follow the rules of her race; instead, she forged her own path.

She didn't know why she was doing this, but at that moment she truly didn't want to eat her own cubs.

She wanted to keep her child and wanted to find a way to save him.

Driven by this urgent expectation, and almost by chance, Tiger Mom recalled a scene she had once witnessed a badger burying its food underground.

The deep caves can prevent other animals from stealing food.

So, could she also use this method to hide the tiger cub's body?

That way, it won't get eaten by other animals?

With this idea in mind, Tiger Mom began to take action.

The mother tiger was afraid that her cubs would be dug up and eaten by other animals, so she did not choose a place far away, but rather in the grass next to the tiger's den.

The mother tiger used all her strength to dig into the grass with her claws.

Sweat began to bead on her nose, and her body began to heat up, as if she had boundless energy, but she was completely unaware of it.

The pit was dug quickly. The pit that Tiger Mom dug was very deep, more than a meter deep.

The mother tiger picked up the dead cub and gently placed it in the pit. With a final, tender lick, she licked the cub's head before pushing the soil down with her paw.

The mother tiger, who had buried her cubs, lay quietly on the mound of earth for a long time.

When the sun was at its zenith, Tiger Mom walked into the tiger's den, looking back every few steps.

Seeing the sleeping tiger cubs, the mother tiger softened her gaze. But when she saw the wounds on Lin Qian's body, the sadness in her heart turned into anger once again.

The tiger mother roared as she charged back into the woods and quickly retrieved the headless carcass of the red fox.

The red fox carcass was still located within the tiger's den area, not far away, and it was fortunate that it had not been discovered by other animals for so long.

The tiger mother angrily tore at the red fox, but instead of eating, she bit off the fox's tail and limbs, venting her anger.

In the end, only the torso remained of the fox carcass, which was twice the size of a normal red fox.

The tiger mother then stopped, took the fox meat in her mouth, and went into the cave. This meat was her reserve food.

After all, Tiger Mom had just eaten before returning, so she doesn't need to eat now.

Wild animals don't waste food, so the tiger mother's act of biting off her limbs and tail in a fit of rage was already quite unusual.

Once inside the cave, the tiger mother peeked out and licked the cubs' noses. Finding nothing amiss, she lay down beside them to rest.

She was already exhausted after being out all night, and now, having experienced the pain of losing her child, Tiger Mom was completely worn out, both physically and mentally.

Soon, the colorful tigress, exhausted and saddened, fell into a deep sleep.

Lin Qian vaguely felt her body getting hot.

This heat isn't annoying; on the contrary, it's warm and comfortable, like taking a hot bath.

He couldn't help but stretch his furry limbs, and immediately, a feeling of great relaxation spread through his body.

Lin Qian paused for a moment, then slowly opened his eyes.

The tiger opened its mouth and exhaled a breath of turbid air.

Before Lin Qian could react, the tiger's eyes suddenly froze, and the little tiger cub rushed out.

Lin Qian quickly rushed into the designated "poop-poop" grass.

"puff--"

A deafening roar of venting erupted.
