Chapter 158 The Storm in Jincheng 2

Soon, about forty people gathered inside and outside the house.

The homeowner also came out of the house and came to the people.

"Captain, we have a clear understanding of the situation. I have arranged for people to meet us at all three of their homes."

The owner of the house, who was also their captain, nodded, looked up at the dark and starless night sky, and a cruel smile appeared on his lips.

He then called over two of his men, looked at them, and said, "You two take your men and act independently. Once you're done, leave directly from here!"

"promise!"

Soon, these Qiang people dressed as slaves split into three groups and quietly headed towards the residences of the powerful families in the city.

Before long, the captain led a dozen men and quietly arrived at the back door of a powerful family's residence. The captain turned his head and waved to a thin subordinate behind him.

The subordinate understood, stepped out of the crowd, and silently approached the courtyard wall. He bent his knees, then jumped, grabbed the edge of the wall tightly with both hands, and then used his arms to push upwards, flipped his body, and successfully landed in the courtyard.

The back door was quickly opened, and the captain and his dozen or so men filed in.

The group stealthily made their way to a rockery in the backyard, where they hid behind it. Under the cover of night, they were virtually undetectable unless one approached closely for a closer look.

"Signal the people who are waiting in line!"

After looking around, the captain turned to one of his subordinates and gave him a low command.

"promise!"

"Coo~ Coo~ Coo~"

The subordinate nodded, then pinched his nose, opened and closed his mouth, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down, and a cry like the hooting of a night owl came from his throat. The shrill cry added a touch of chilling menace to the night.

"Captain, look!"

The shouting had barely stopped when the captain and his men spotted a light in the distance. It turned out to be a slave from the manor carrying an oil lamp, walking towards their hiding place.

"alert!"

The captain gave a low shout, and everyone immediately gripped their longswords tightly, staring intently at the light.

"Coo~ Coo~ Coo~"

When the light reached a short distance from the crowd, the slave holding the oil lamp stood still and made the same call.

"They're on our side!"

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief; it turned out to be the people who had come to meet them.

"Go and bring him here!"

At the captain's signal, one of his men stepped out from his hiding place and walked toward the slave.

"This humble servant greets the captain!"

Soon the slave was brought over, and he spoke to the captain with great respect.

The captain nodded and asked softly, "Hmm! How's the situation inside? Are your men all ready?"

The slave whispered, "Don't worry, Captain. I have a brother who has already spoken with the other slaves. We'll give them half of the spoils and he'll lead them to escape. Everyone is willing to obey your orders, Captain!"

Hearing that everything was arranged, the captain was relieved and then asked, "Have you managed to get a map of the manor's layout?"

"After several days of exploration, the entire drawing has been completed!"

After speaking, the slave took out a piece of white linen from his pocket and handed it to the captain.

The diagram depicts the layout of the manor's houses, with detailed markings of the houses where the manor's family members lived.

Using the faint light, after carefully noting the distribution of the burlap on the cloth, the captain casually tossed the white burlap at his feet.

"You should go back first, and we'll make our move after we give the signal!"

"promise!"

The slave nodded, then turned and left, quickly disappearing into the darkness.

"Begin the operation!"

About fifteen minutes after the slave left, the captain gave a low shout, and the men emerged from their hiding place and stealthily made their way toward the house where the powerful man lived.

Before long, the group arrived safely outside the window of the powerful man's house. Listening to the faint snoring coming from inside, the captain's lips curled up slightly.

The captain then beckoned to someone behind him, and one of his men pulled a dagger from his sleeve, tiptoed to the door, inserted the dagger into the crack, and slowly began to pry open the bolt.

The door was opened quickly, and the whole process was surprisingly silent.

"Let's do it!"

After the door opened, with a low shout from the captain, the man holding the dagger rushed towards Haoqiang's bedroom.

Rushing to the bedside, the man saw Hao Qiang lying between two young women, still fast asleep. He narrowed his eyes, gripped the dagger in his hand, and thrust it vertically towards Hao Qiang's chest.

The rest of the people quickly rushed in as well.

Haoqiang, who was fast asleep and having a sweet dream, suddenly felt a sense of danger approaching and was jolted awake. The moment he opened his eyes, he saw a gleaming dagger falling towards his chest.

Without a second thought, the tyrant rolled to the side and grabbed a woman next to him to shield himself.

Ah~

With a "thud" and a woman's cry of pain, the man's dagger pierced the woman's body.

The tyrant, realizing what was happening, shoved the injured woman toward the man, then rolled off the bed.

The man's eyes were cold. He pushed the woman away, pulled the dagger out of her body without hesitation, and stabbed at the powerful man again.
