Li Ru's face was contorted with rage, his eyes filled with a deep-seated hatred for the Han court and a desperate madness.
The Wuhuan centurion was stunned. He looked at the Han man who seemed to have gone mad with suspicion.
Just then, a deep, resonant voice in Wuhuan language rang out from afar: "Bring him here!"
A group of Wuhuan cavalrymen, whose equipment was clearly much better, escorted a burly man with a rugged face and wearing a thick wolf-skin cloak as they slowly approached.
This man had eyes like a hawk, carrying the majesty and scrutiny of a superior. He was none other than Wugulu, the cousin of Qiuliju, the leader of this Wuhuan raiding party!
Wugu Lu looked with great interest at the Han youth in the snow, whose chest was bare and whose eyes were filled with madness.
He had witnessed the shooting of the Han army officer; this Han man was quite interesting.
Li Ru knew that the most crucial moment had arrived! Meeting Wugu Lu's scrutinizing gaze, he once again shouted in broken Wuhuan language:
"Chief Wugulu, the Han dogs killed my whole family! I will never let the Han dogs live under the same sky! I am willing to serve you, my lord. Go and seize more grain and kill more Han dogs!"
The wind and snow howled, swirling up snowflakes that lashed against Li Ru's bare chest, chilling him to the bone.
Wugu Lu's rugged face showed little expression, except for his hawk-like eyes, which scrutinized Li Wenyou like knives.
After a long pause, he slowly spoke: "Han dogs are always as cunning as foxes. Why should I believe you? Just because you killed two Han officers? Perhaps this is just a ruse set up by you Han people!"
The surrounding Wuhuan cavalrymen burst into laughter, their gazes towards Li Ru filled with mockery and distrust.
Li Wenyou's heart sank, but the crazed expression on her face remained unchanged.
He suddenly pointed to the chaotic and bloody battlefield behind him, to the fleeing daredevils being chased and slaughtered like pigs and sheep by the Wuhuan cavalry, and roared:
"A self-inflicted injury plot? Look at them, look at those people who were thrown out to their deaths by the Han dogs. I am one of them. In the eyes of the Han people, my life is not even worth as much as a dog's!"
That dog emperor, those corrupt officials, they took everything from me. I wish I could eat their flesh and drink their blood…
Li Ru paused, a more frenzied glint flashing in his eyes: "If you don't believe me, sir, please give me a bow and an arrow!"
Wugu Lu's expression shifted, and he then gestured with his chin toward the soldier beside him.
The Wuhuan cavalryman sneered and tossed a spare bow and an arrow to Li Ru's feet.
Li Ru bent down to pick up the bow and arrow, then looked toward the edge of the chaotic battlefield and quickly spotted an officer wearing leather armor who was trying to escape into a pile of rocks.
Without hesitation, Li Ru nocked an arrow, drew his bow, and aimed at the opponent's back.
The bowstring twanged!
The arrow shot out like black lightning.
"puff!"
The arrow pierced the Han army officer's back with perfect accuracy.
Then, the officer's body suddenly stiffened, and he collapsed to the ground.
The entire edge of the battlefield fell silent for a moment!
Both the pursuing Wuhuan cavalry and the scattered Han soldiers who put up a few resistances were stunned for a moment.
A Han Chinese man actually shot and killed another Han Chinese officer in public. This was clearly treason, a crime even more serious than rebellion!
"Hahaha, good, well done!"
Wugu Lu suddenly burst into laughter, his gaze towards Li Wenyou filled with excitement and admiration.
"Good, what a mad dog! Ruthless and vicious, I like it!"
He waved his hand dismissively: "Take him with you! Back to camp! I want to hear what good stuff you, you mad dog, can bring me!"
Two fierce Wuhuan cavalrymen dismounted, roughly grabbed Li Ru, then bound his hands with ropes and tied him to the back of a warhorse.
Li staggered as he was dragged along by his warhorse, leaving deep tracks in the snow. He lowered his head, letting the wind and snow whip his cheeks, and a single, crystal-clear tear slid down his cheek...
