Chapter Forty-Four: The Awkward Ghost

Yi Chenli's outer robe was taken off, revealing his inner garment.

Her undergarments were soaked in blood, a large, deep red stain. In the worst areas, the dried blood clung to her flesh, making even the slightest touch extremely painful.

Li Gui's hands trembled incessantly: "Master, you'll probably have to bear with it for a while. This wound needs medicine to prevent it from getting infected."

Yi Chenli's forehead was covered in cold sweat, but he didn't utter a sound.

He turned his head with difficulty and looked at An Yuan'er, whose eyes were red and swollen from crying, and said, "Yuan Yuan'er, I really don't feel any pain. Why don't you go home first today? I'll tutor you again tomorrow."

An Yuan'er shook her head desperately, crying, "I won't go, I won't go."

She held her chubby little hand to Yi Chenli's mouth: "Yi Chenli, I know it hurts a lot, don't hold it in, you can bite my hand."

The ointment burned as it was applied to the wound, and Yi Chenli's lips were a little pale, but he forced a smile and comforted the crying girl: "I'm a boy, boys don't feel pain."

He was the one in pain, yet he turned around and comforted the crying girl.

Yi Chenli didn't feel any pain from being injured; what pained him was that the usually cheerful, round-faced girl was crying, and it was he who made her cry.

He didn't want her to cry, no matter who it was for.

He then adopted a fierce tone: "Roundy, you look awful when you cry. If you cry again, I'll kick you out."

"Don't send me away." An Yuan'er immediately stopped crying.

Yi Chenli discovered that this tactic was actually more effective against An Yuan'er.

After being scolded, An Yuan'er pouted, feeling wronged and unhappy.

He couldn't chase her away, nor could he scold her. Yi Chenli felt that An Yuan'er was both spoiled and difficult to coax. Yet, this girl was the only one who fearlessly stood in front of him with her small body, telling others again and again that he was not crazy.

He beckoned to An Yuan'er with his finger, signaling her to come closer and listen to his whispers.

An Yuan'er curiously leaned her little head closer and heard Yi Chenli's pleasant voice clearly say, "Round and chubby, I'm so happy to have you as a friend."

Unlike before when An Yuan'er forced herself to be friends with him, this was the first time An Yuan'er had heard Yi Chenli admit that they were friends.

An Yuan'er's eyes shone with an unusual light as she excitedly shouted, "Yi Chenli, say it again, am I dreaming?"

Yi Chenli thought: Yuan Gun Gun has finally smiled and stopped crying.

Making her happy is really not easy.

"Say it again, Yi Chenli?"

Yi Chenli reached out and flicked An Yuan'er's head.

"It hurts!" An Yuan'er clutched her forehead.

Yi Chenli laughed: "See? You'll feel pain. It's not a dream."

An Yuan'er shouted loudly, "Yi Chenli, the point isn't that it's a dream, the point is that you said we're friends."

Yi Chenli feigned ignorance: "Oh? Did I say that?"

An Yuan'er roared like a lion: "I already said it. Don't even think about going back on your word."

"oh!"

"Oh, what do you mean? Yi Chenli, you're such a weirdo!"

"......"

The girl had a loud voice; her chatter filled the entire Chenyang Palace. Yet, it was she who made the painful process of applying the medicine less unbearable.

As soon as the medicine was applied, Yi Chenli insisted on taking An Yuan'er home. If they went home any later, his doting father would worry.

An Yuan'er waved her chubby little hand reluctantly and said, "Yi Chenli, you have to get better soon! I'll come see you again tomorrow."

"Okay!" Yi Chenli replied, urging An Yuan'er to leave quickly.
