Chapter Forty-Five: How Heartbreaking

On the way back, a light drizzle began to fall, and the weather was gloomy and somewhat stuffy.

As An Yuan'er walked home, her heart was pounding wildly for no reason, and she had a bad feeling.

Is today's matter really over?

Chenyang Palace

The Empress, accompanied by several eunuchs and maids, arrived in secret.

Yi Chenli sat in his wheelchair, looking at the menacing group, seemingly having anticipated it.

Over the years, this seemingly magnanimous empress has done many shady things behind the scenes.

Yi Chenli's mother was a princess of the Southern Kingdom. She was beautiful and talented. She was loved and pampered throughout her life. The current empress was just an unfavored concubine back then.

On the surface, it was Yi Chenqi who was spoiled and bullied Yi Chenli, but behind the scenes, it was the Empress who secretly instructed her to bring those fine and dense needles, insert them into Yi Chenli's body, and then pull them out, torturing him repeatedly.

The silver needles were fine and delicate, leaving no trace. Therefore, no one discovered this clandestine secret.

“Sister Hua, let me teach him a lesson today. This kid has suffered so much from us all these years and still hasn’t learned his lesson. I will avenge my cousin’s injuries a thousandfold.”

The Empress's younger brother, Murong Huan, took two silver needles and inserted them straight into Yi Chenli's already injured body.

The wound was bandaged in vain, but it started bleeding again and even showed signs of festering.

The black clothes were soaked in blood, which flowed down the wheelchair.

For Yi Chenli, the physical pain seemed to have become so intense that he had long since become numb.

Neither the Empress nor Murong Huan could detect a trace of pleading or fear in Yi Chenli. On the contrary, his eyes were sinister and terrifying, his pupils pitch black, enough to send chills down one's spine if one looked at them for too long.

Even though it's just a child in front of you, it inexplicably evokes fear.

To bolster his courage, Murong Huan added several more silver needles.

Yi Chenli instead sneered: "When Heaven is about to place a great responsibility on a person, it will first test their will, strain their muscles and bones, starve their body, leave them destitute, and disrupt their actions, so as to strengthen their resolve and increase their abilities. Even if I am subjected to more pain, what do I have to fear?"

A person with a strong will cannot be defeated by physical pain.

Despite the Empress's repeated suppression, Yi Chenli still ranked first in the academy, far ahead of the second place. Some ministers in the court began to advise that although the sixth prince was physically disabled and not destined to be an emperor, he was talented at a young age and was a man of great ability to govern the world. If he was properly trained, he would surely be able to assist a wise ruler.

The emperor also paid more attention to this unfavored prince, after all, he was the only child of the woman he once loved most.

The Empress had been suppressed by Yi Chenli's mother her whole life, so how could she allow the son of that lowly woman to be above her son?

She walked up to Yi Chenli and said through gritted teeth, "You are incompatible with my son. I have already informed the Emperor that starting tomorrow, you will no longer need to go to school. Just stay in Chenyang Palace. I will find another tutor for you."

How could the Empress possibly hire a good tutor for Yi Chenli? Wherever Yi Chenli shines, she will strip him of everything.

The Empress wanted to inflict all the sense of victory she hadn’t gotten from Yi Chenli’s mother on her son.

Yi Chenli lowered his eyes. He privately believed that learning could take place anywhere, not necessarily confined to the small space of a school. It was just a pity that he would no longer be able to study with Yuan Gun Gun.

I wonder how sad the little girl will be when she finds out.
