Chapter 129 The Crown Prince's Intentions

While Xue was practicing diligently, she heard a knock on the door. Her hand trembled, and a drop of ink dripped down, ruining the entire sheet of paper.

"Come in!" He Xue changed to a new sheet of paper and continued practicing. She thought it was Nan Xing or Xia Bing, so she didn't look up.

"Why aren't you resting so late?" The prince walked in carrying a sketchbook.

He Xue looked up in surprise when she heard the Crown Prince's voice. Why would the Crown Prince come so late at night?

He Xue then realized that she was only wearing her undergarments. She quickly went to the clothes rack next to her and took out a cloak to put on, but she only had one hand and dared not move the other. The more anxious she became, the worse she did.

Upon seeing this, the Crown Prince quickly put down what he was holding and came to He Xue, draping the cloak over her shoulders.

He Xue felt that the Crown Prince was too close to her. The Crown Prince was already taller than her, and now his breath was hitting her face, making her face feel burning hot.

He Xue didn't even need to look to know that her face must look like it had been boiled.

The Crown Prince also noticed He Xue's change, and deliberately slowed down his movements, then moved closer to He Xue to tie her cloak.

Finally, the cloak was fastened, and He Xue felt it was pure torture.

"Brother Crown Prince, what brings you here?" He Xue asked.

"I've returned your sketchbook!" the prince said.

"Thank you, Your Highness. You could have had someone else make the trip! You didn't have to come here yourself!" He Xue felt that it was completely unnecessary for the Crown Prince to make the trip himself.

"Doesn't He Xue want to see her brother, the Crown Prince?" The Crown Prince looked at He Xue with a hurt expression.

He Xue looked at the Crown Prince, feeling as if she had done something utterly heinous. "No, Crown Prince, I just didn't want you to work too hard!"

"It's no trouble at all. As long as it's about you, I'll do it willingly!" the Crown Prince said, looking at He Xue.

He Xue felt that the Crown Prince had been acting strangely lately, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"He Xue, are you practicing calligraphy?" the Crown Prince asked, noticing the paper on the table.

"Yes, I just couldn't sleep! So I got up to practice my calligraphy!"

"Your handwriting is a bit weak and feeble. Come here, let your Crown Prince teach you!" The Crown Prince beckoned to He Xue.

He Xue knew that the Crown Prince was very skilled in calligraphy in history. The Dusutang Collection of Writings recorded that "the Crown Prince was intelligent and quick-witted, and even in calligraphy, he surpassed all previous emperors and was the best among all princes." This refers to the Crown Prince's outstanding calligraphy.

Now that the Crown Prince wants to teach her calligraphy, He Xue naturally ran over eagerly.

The prince held He Xue in his arms, took her small hand in his own, and began to write, stroke by stroke, while guiding her hand.

Does the Crown Prince think this counts as having a beautiful woman by his side?

"You can practice more on your own!" the Crown Prince said to He Xue.

"I understand, thank you, Crown Prince!" He Xue replied.

"He Xue, shall I take you to practice archery another day?" The Crown Prince now really enjoys the feeling of holding He Xue in his arms.

"Brother Crown Prince, you know my hand is not convenient right now, so why do you still make me practice archery?" He Xue felt that the Crown Prince was deliberately targeting her sore spot.

"Haha!" The Crown Prince chuckled in a low voice, and seeing that He Xue was about to explode, he hurriedly said, "Brother Crown Prince didn't say we should go now! We'll go when your hand is healed!"

“Okay!” He Xue replied happily.

The Crown Prince habitually ruffled He Xue's hair. "Get some rest early, don't stay up too late. Your brother will head back now!"

He Xue is not a child anymore, and it's not appropriate for him to stay in her room all the time. He doesn't want to spread any rumors that are detrimental to her.

He Xue nodded obediently, "I know, Crown Prince, you should rest early too!"

"Alright!" Only then did the Crown Prince leave He Xue's room.

The next day, after Wanliuhashi opened her eyes, she called out "Sang'er? Sang'er?" several times but did not hear a response from Sang'er.

"I wonder where she's been slacking off. I must punish her properly today, otherwise everyone will think she's weak and easy to bully!" Wanliuha muttered to herself.
