"Steward, steward, quickly prepare my sedan chair, I need to go to the palace to meet the Emperor!" Soetu pulled at the wound on the corner of his mouth, and he was covering his mouth with one hand in pain!
"Tch, Suo'etu, you're a disgrace to us Manchus! You even have to ride in a sedan chair when you go out! You're a disgrace to the Manchus and to men as well!" Suhetai said sarcastically.
Soetu tried his best to suppress his anger. He wouldn't argue with Suhetai, that brute. He wanted to go to the palace and ask the emperor to make a decision for him.
After leaving Suhetai's residence, he wondered whether he should go to the palace before Suhetai or wait until Suhetai had entered the palace.
He should have gotten there first, otherwise who knows what Suo'etu would have said!
Suhetai turned his head and saw the two stone lions at the entrance of Suo'etu's residence. "Why are there two lions at the entrance just like in my residence?"
He then kicked the lion, but the lion didn't budge. Su and Tai clutched their feet and ran around in pain!
"Song'etu, you're really sick! Why did you make the lion so heavy? It looks like you've plundered a lot of the people's wealth!" Suhetai looked around to make sure no one had seen him make a fool of himself.
Suhetai mounted his horse and looked at the two lions that were as steady as rocks. One day he would knock those two lions to the ground.
Suhetai rode his horse at a leisurely pace toward the palace.
At the General's Mansion, after finishing his tea, Tong Guowei said to Jingshu, "Jingshu, let's go! Let's go with your grandfather to find Father!"
"Where are you going?" Madam Tongjia looked at Tong Guowei. Did he want to lead a group to fight Suo'etu? It was fine for Tong Guowei and Su Hetai to go, but Jing Shu couldn't go. Jing Shu still had to take the imperial examination!
"Of course I went to break up the fight! In case Suhetai didn't know his own strength and hurt Suo'etu!" Tong Guowei said.
Madam Tong Jia glared at Tong Guowei, annoyed. "Where are you going now? The fight's already started! If you really wanted to go, you should have chased after Su Hetai when he left!"
Or you might as well just stop Suhetai from going!
“Madam, you don’t understand. If I go after Suhetai after he leaves, when he attacks Suo’etu, should I just watch or help him attack Suo’etu?”
“I can’t argue with you, you always have a bunch of fallacies!” Mrs. Tongjia said.
Tong Guogang smiled and then took Jing Shu to Suo'etu's residence.
When they arrived at Suo'etu's residence, they saw that the courtyard was in complete disarray and the furniture in the main hall was also overturned.
"Grandfather, didn't Father go a bit too far?" Jing Shu whispered.
"It seems there really is some!" Tong Guowei said, looking at the mess in the yard.
"Grandfather, where is my father?" Jing Shu searched around but couldn't find Su Hetai.
Tong Guowei discovered that not only was Suhetai nowhere to be seen, but he also did not see Suo'etu.
He asked around in Suo'etu's residence and learned that Suo'etu had gone to the palace.
He guessed that Suhetai must have also entered the palace.
“Let’s go, let’s go to the palace too!” Suhetai was in the wrong after all, and Tong Guowei was worried that Suhetai would suffer a loss. He also had to go to the palace to prevent Kangxi from favoring Suo’etu.
Inside the Qianqing Palace, Emperor Kangxi was testing the studies of the Crown Prince and the other princes.
Liang Jiugong walked in and said to Emperor Kangxi, "Your Majesty, General Suhetai requests an audience!"
"Why is he here?" Kangxi was startled. He must have come to the palace because of Xue.
Kangxi looked at the Crown Prince and asked, "Baocheng, do you think it would be alright for me to say that I am not feeling well and it is not appropriate for me to see anyone now?"
Liang Jiugong, who was standing nearby, said directly, "Your Majesty, General Su Hetai is already waiting at the door!"
How did Su Hetai get to his doorstep? Kangxi knew he couldn't avoid it any longer, so he sighed and said, "Let him in!"
"Yes!" Liang Jiugong flicked his whisk and turned to leave.
Suhetai quickly entered, saying, "This servant Suhetai greets His Majesty, His Highness the Crown Prince, and all the princes!"
"Rise! Take a seat!" Kangxi looked at Suhetai, but he couldn't discern anything from Suhetai's face.
"Thank you, Your Majesty, but this servant should kneel down first!" Suhetai said.
"What have you done? Why are you kneeling like this?" Kangxi asked, knowing that Suhetai was definitely not like this normally.
"Your Majesty, I beg your forgiveness for returning to the capital without permission!" Su Hetai's attitude of admitting his guilt was now very good.
"I hadn't even noticed until you mentioned it. How did you get back to the capital?" Kangxi asked.
"This servant missed His Majesty, so I returned to the capital without permission!" Suhetai said with a grin.
“Speak like a human being!” Kangxi didn’t believe Suhetai’s explanation at all!
"Your Majesty, I'm speaking perfectly well! I really missed you, and I came back to see my wife and daughter!"
As expected, Kangxi knew that Suhetai had returned because of Hexue.
"Did you see him?" Kangxi asked.
"I saw her, but He Xue was bullied. He Xue is my precious daughter. Seeing her like that breaks my heart!" Su Hetai said with heartache.
Emperor Kangxi rarely saw Su Hetai like this. When He Xue was mentioned, Su Hetai became gentle. Emperor Kangxi thought about how He Xue was always injured in the palace, and he felt a little guilty towards Su Hetai.
