Chapter 89 The Anxious Kangxi

He Xue suddenly remembered something, "Mother, does Father know about this?"

Lady Tongjia smiled and said, "Don't worry, I didn't tell your father! Otherwise, the Emperor would probably be in trouble!"

He Xue thought about it and realized that if her father knew, it would probably be true. Su He Tai really doted on her, and if he knew she was injured, he wouldn't care about Kangxi's status!

He Xue was very fortunate to have met such loving family members here.

"I want to sleep with Mother today!" He Xue said coquettishly, hugging Tongjia Shi.

“Alright, Mother will stay with you today!” Tongjia replied.

"Then let Father stay in his room alone today!" He Xue said with a grin.

"You! You even teased your father!" Tongjia said helplessly.

“No way!” He Xue said.

"Go to sleep, aren't you going horseback riding with your uncle tomorrow?" Tongjia urged.

"Great!" Xue was so excited about riding a horse tomorrow that she couldn't sleep.

Emperor Kangxi was also having trouble sleeping. He specially arranged for Liang Jiugong to escort He Xue out of the palace, just to find out Su Hetai's reaction.

According to Liang Jiugong's description, Su Hetai probably didn't know about He Xue's injury, nor did he know whether Su Hetai would find out after He Xue returned. So he spent the whole day waiting for Su Hetai to enter the palace, but he didn't see Su Hetai after waiting all day.

Was Suhetai planning to confront him again at the morning court session tomorrow? Kangxi felt that he could not rest easy as long as Suhetai did not come.

Although he was the emperor and Suhetai was the subject, it was ultimately his fault, and he couldn't abuse his power to oppress others! Hopefully, Suhetai won't make things too embarrassing for the emperor in front of his officials!

The next day, after having breakfast, Xue and He went straight to Jing Shu and Shu Yi's courtyard.

"Big brother, second brother!" He Xue called out as she entered the courtyard.

"He Xue, why are you here so early?" Shu Yi had just finished practicing her boxing.

"Second Brother, aren't we going horse racing today? When are we leaving?" He Xue asked.

"You can go now. Go check if your older brother is alright?" Shuyi still needed to change her clothes; they were soaked with sweat after she finished practicing.

"Okay, I'll go find my eldest brother. Second brother, you should hurry too!" He Xue said worriedly.

"Don't worry, right away!" Shuyi replied with a smile.

He Xue came to Jing Shu's room and saw that Jing Shu was still reading.

Jing Shu didn't notice Xue until she walked up to him.

Didn't you hear me when I was so loud? Or were you just studying too intently?

He Xue walked behind Jing Shu, then covered Jing Shu's eyes from behind, and said in a low voice, "Guess who I am?"

As soon as He Xue covered Jing Shu's eyes with her hand, Jing Shu knew it was He Xue. In the entire mansion, only He Xue liked to do this.

"Little sister, let go!" Jing Shu said.

"Big brother, how did you know it was me?" He Xue asked disappointedly.

"Because you're my sister!" Jing Shu saw He Xue pouting and gently flicked He Xue's nose.

"Big brother, don't study anymore, let's go find Uncle!" He Xue grabbed Jing Shu's arm and shook it.

"Alright, let's go!" Jing Shu tidied up.

Just then, Shuyi also changed her clothes and came over. The three siblings got into the carriage and headed straight for the horse racing track.

During the morning court session, Emperor Kangxi would occasionally glance at Suhetai, wondering why Suhetai was so quiet today. Had Suhetai changed his ways?

Kangxi thought it was impossible. When it came to He Xue, Su Hetai had completely lost his rationality. What exactly happened today?

Because Kangxi kept glancing at Suhetai, Suhetai felt uneasy under Kangxi's gaze. He recalled all his recent events and realized that he hadn't done anything to offend Kangxi.

Suhetai simply stopped thinking about it and let Kangxi look him over; after all, a glance wouldn't hurt him.

Even after the court session ended, Kangxi had not received any questioning from Suhetai. He had already prepared himself to face Suhetai, so why was Suhetai acting out of the ordinary?

Emperor Kangxi went directly to Chengqian Palace and subtly inquired about Consort Tongjia, only to learn that He Xue had not told Su Hetai about her injury.

Kangxi finally breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that his usual doting on Hexue had not been in vain; she knew how to share his burdens as her uncle.

Consort Tongjia understood why Kangxi was upset just by looking at him, but she simply smiled and didn't say anything.

The three siblings, He Xue and her brother, quickly arrived at the racecourse. As soon as He Xue stepped off the carriage, she felt refreshed and invigorated. The blue sky, white clouds, and green grass were all natural and unpolluted, something that could not be compared to her time.

Xue is curious about everything now, looking here and there.

Jing Shu led He Xue directly to the stands, where Shu Yi couldn't wait to ride a horse.
