Chapter 386 Su Rong's Visit

Chu Chu spoke slowly in a calm and profound tone, "Actually, that can't be considered true redemption. To be more precise, I simply paved a different path for him. He lost his memory and became an ordinary person from then on. Like countless other creatures in the world, he enjoyed a limited number of years, and decades of time passed in the blink of an eye."

Upon hearing this, Chu Lei finally couldn't suppress the doubts that had accumulated in his heart for over a decade. He asked softly, "Chu Chu, I know my mother and elder sister know something about those incredible abilities you possess, but to me, it's always been a mystery. Can you tell me what the truth is?"

Chuchu smiled faintly, her eyes revealing a detached indifference. "Second brother, this story is really long, and it might take three days and three nights to finish. But since you asked, I'll briefly explain it. In fact, I am not human, but a bird with a different name from the distant Jiayang Mountain. I have endless years, which is completely different from the lifespan of humans. Moreover, I always adhere to a principle, that is, never to harm any kind-hearted human. What's more, I have the mission of protecting the Gu and Song families. I am willing to use my power to make these two families prosperous and glorious forever."

Chu Lei's eyes flashed with surprise upon hearing this, but it was quickly replaced by tenderness and understanding. He sighed softly, as if a heavy stone had been quietly lifted from his heart. "So that's how it is, Chu Chu. You've always been mysterious and special, and now I finally have the answer. No wonder you're always so calm and detached. It turns out you carry such an extraordinary mission."

He reached out and gently patted Chuchu's shoulder, his touch conveying both a brother's protective care and admiration for his sister's inner strength. "Whether you're human or a bird of the same name, you'll always be the most precious sister in my heart. Your presence fills this family with unique color and strength."

Chuchu smiled slightly, a warm light glittering in her eyes. "Second brother, thank you for your understanding and support. In fact, I am also very fortunate to be able to be one of you. Although my status is special, this family relationship is my most precious treasure. I will do my best to protect this family and everyone I love."

The two smiled at each other, their tacit understanding and affection flowing silently. Outside the window, the afterglow of the setting sun filled the courtyard, giving this ordinary moment a golden glow.

Soon, the night deepened, and Chu Lei stood up to say goodbye: "It's getting late, I should go back. You should also make sure to rest and don't get too tired."

"Don't worry, second brother. I will take good care of myself." Chu Chu sent Chu Lei to the door and watched his back as he walked away, her heart filled with gratitude and peace.

The door had just closed, and there seemed to be a trace of wind still lingering, but it was immediately interrupted by a quick and slightly hesitant knock on the door.

Chuchu stood behind the door, her brows slightly furrowed, a trace of doubt in her heart. She quickly glanced at the living room, making sure nothing was left out, and then slowly opened the door.

Outside the door was neighbor Su Rong. The smile on his face seemed a little stiff when he saw Chu Chu, as if he had anticipated the cold reception he was about to face.

"Is there something?" Chuchu's voice was cold and direct, without any hesitation, and her eyes revealed an unspoken alienation.

Su Rong took a deep breath and tried to make his smile look more natural, although he knew it was not easy.

"Well, I bought a small cake here, with blueberry mousse. I saw you mentioned that you liked it before, and I thought it would be boring to eat it alone, so I thought..." As he spoke, he gently lifted the cake in his hand, as if it was a key that could break the awkward atmosphere.

Chuchu's eyes unconsciously fell on the exquisite and tempting blueberry mousse. It was her favorite flavor, sweet with a hint of sourness, just like some complex emotions.

But her reason quickly prevailed, and a hint of sarcasm appeared at the corner of her mouth: "It's too sweet. I'm not interested in sweets now." There was unquestionable determination in her words, and she was obviously deliberately keeping a distance.

Upon hearing this, a hint of embarrassment flashed across Su Rong's face, but he quickly adjusted himself and continued to probe: "But, Zhao Qing and Song Nuan both said that you like blueberry mousse very much. Did I remember it wrong?" There was a hint of helplessness in his words, as if hinting at some deeper intention.

Chuchu secretly criticized the two "little traitors" in her heart, but she still maintained her cold and arrogant appearance. "If you have something to say, just say it directly. There's no need to use these tricks to get close to me." Her tone was unquestionable and firm, as if telling Su Rong that she was not buying it.

Feeling Chuchu's determination, Su Rong finally mustered up the courage and spoke frankly: "Actually, I came here this time to apologize to you. Before, because of the Suning incident, I had a bad attitude and said some impulsive words. My uncle and aunt were very sad about the Suning incident, and I also lost my mind a little. But I have thought it through now, and I also understand your actions at the time. Sometimes, there are some things that the law really can't completely solve."

Chuchu's lips curled up slightly after hearing this, but then she returned to her cold expression. "You think you can get rid of me with just a little cake?" Her words were a bit playful, but they also gave Su Rong a way out.

Seeing this, Su Rong struck while the iron was hot: "Then I'll treat you to a midnight snack. There is a barbecue restaurant near our apartment. The food is delicious and has a great reputation." His words were full of sincerity and his eyes revealed anticipation.

Chuchu nodded slightly, tacitly agreeing to Su Rong's proposal. "That's about right." She said as she turned and went back to the house, leaving Su Rong with a graceful back view.

A few minutes later, Chuchu changed her clothes and appeared at the door. Her simple yet fashionable outfit made her temperament even more outstanding. Su Rong admired her inwardly and then opened the car door for her like a gentleman.

The two of them came to the barbecue restaurant. The environment inside the restaurant was clean and tidy, yet it also had a sense of homeliness, giving people a feeling of comfort and down-to-earthness. The table was filled with a variety of barbecue skewers and beer. The two of them ate and chatted, and the atmosphere gradually became relaxed.

After a few beers, Chuchu finally took the initiative to ask, "Tell me, what is it that you need my help with?" There was a serious look in her eyes, and she was obviously ready to listen.

"Yes, I do have something to talk to you about."
