Yang Yufen nodded. Today she planned to fence off the backyard and then go to the security office to ask about the bricks.
Others thought she was just staying temporarily, but she knew she would be staying here for the next two or three years.
"Qin Nian, you're leaving so early and coming home so late, leaving your mother-in-law all alone at home. How lonely she must be! You should spend more time with her. I heard your mother-in-law is from the countryside, and people from the countryside aren't very clean. You don't mean you don't want to be with her, do you?"
Yi Mengling appeared suddenly like a ghost, muttering in a sarcastic tone.

Besides the three five-story buildings in the tenement building, the family compound consists of four rows of small courtyards like the one Qin Nian was assigned to. Each courtyard has a bedroom, a living room, and a kitchen. It is more spacious than the tenement building and has a yard where vegetables can be grown.
The small courtyard that Qin Nian was assigned to was in the last row, and there was a mountain not far behind it, so she could collect firewood. Although the bamboo forest was a bit further away, it was only a 20-minute walk away, and there was a path that could be crossed by tricycle.
This mountain was allocated to the research institute, so there's no need to worry about any bad people.
Yang Yufen patted the mud off her hands and looked at the fence she had built with satisfaction. Although it was only up to her chest, it was just the right size for planting some climbing vines.
After tidying up the backyard, Yang Yufen prepared a simple lunch, then soaked the dirty clothes in a basin and began to scrub them.
The courtyard gate was open, and Yi Mengling walked straight in.
"Hello, Aunt Shen, I'm Qin Nian's colleague."
Yang Yufen looked up when she heard the sound.
"You've mistaken me for someone else. I'm not Aunt Shen."
Yang Yufen saw that the woman was young. Although she was smiling and said that she was her daughter-in-law's colleague, her eyes looked malicious. Yang Yufen did not give her a friendly look.
"Ah, you're not Qin Nian's mother-in-law? Then what are you doing here? This is indeed the courtyard Qin Nian was allocated. Could it be that you're Qin Nian's hired nanny?"
When Yi Mengling saw Yang Yufen washing clothes, she noticed that the shirt in her hand was the one Qin Nian had worn the day before, and she blurted out.
Yang Yufen didn't reply, poured out the water and turned on the tap to get more water.
"Qin Nian is really enjoying herself, she actually hired a nanny. I wonder if she kicked her mother-in-law out as soon as she arrived. I saw her getting food from the cafeteria the other day, and I really thought she was doing well. Turns out she just got rid of her."
Yi Mengling was surprised that her trip had been in vain, and her expression immediately changed.
His gaze toward Yang Yufen also turned disdainful.
"Hey, how much does Qin Nian pay you a month? I'm talking to you!"
Yi Mengling raised her chin at Yang Yufen and raised her voice.
Yang Yufen wrung out the water from the clothes in her hands, then picked up the basin, turned around, and splashed the water onto the ground, landing on Yi Mengling's little leather shoes.
Sharp curses immediately rang out.
