"Ah! You old woman! Do you know how hard it is to buy these little leather shoes? You might not be able to buy them even with several months' wages. How dare you throw dirty water at me? No wonder you're Qin Nian's nanny, you're just like Qin Nian!"

Yi Mengling jumped up and down, but the water on the ground splashed even more violently.
Yang Yufen put the basin down and just stared at Yi Mengling. Hearing the commotion, Aunt Liu and Aunt Zhang from next door immediately ran over.

Aunt Liu recognized Yi Mengling immediately.

Yang Yufen gave her a good scolding; if she hadn't wanted to embarrass her daughter-in-law, she could have used even more vulgar language.
Yang Yufen picked up a broom, as if she was about to beat Yi Mengling out if she didn't leave on her own.
Yi Mengling never expected that the person in front of her was Qin Nian's mother-in-law.
"Didn't you say you weren't called Aunt Shen? Qin Nian married a man whose surname is Shen."
Yi Mengling's face turned red with anger.
"Does your father's name mean you're a turtle and your mother's name mean you're a turtle too? I can have whatever surname I want. If you're so good at nagging, why don't you go catch some bugs in the field?"
Yang Yufen rudely raised her broom, startling Yi Mengling, who was wearing a white dress today. She quickly backed away and was thus kicked out of the door.
Aunt Liu and Aunt Zhang exchanged a glance. At their age, they could easily tell that Yi Mengling was at odds with Qin Nian and was deliberately causing trouble.
So they all pretended not to see it and went back to their own businesses. Anyway, Yang Da Meizi didn't suffer any loss.
Yi Mengling stared in disbelief as the door slammed shut in front of her. When she came to her senses, she remembered her leather shoes and wanted to go up and knock on the door. But when she saw that the two neighboring houses still had their doors open, Yi Mengling stomped her feet, held her breath, and went back to the tenement building.
The closer Yi Mengling got to the dormitory building, the angrier she became. When she saw a group of researchers' family members gathered under the tap, busy washing and cleaning, some thoughts flashed through Yi Mengling's mind.
"Sister-in-law Wang and Sister-in-law Li are washing things. They are the two most diligent and capable women in the family compound, and their homes are always spotless."
"Xiao Yi, why are you back so early today? Oh, this dress is so pretty! Oh, how did it get mud spots on it? It hasn't rained these past few days, has it?"
Sister-in-law Wang also smiled and struck up a conversation.
